Of course SS is in trouble, what else could you expect when BO cut a significant
portion of its funding (the payroll tax) in order to buy votes?
The author makes the case for social security to be in trouble, but he just ties
local pensions to it with no justification. The legislature has the
responsibility and power to adjust it as necessary. Utah's legislature has
done so and continues to do so. Utah's pension system is completely
healthy - unless legislators use articles like this to justify undermining it to
further hurt public employees.I understand about social security,
but it bothers me that the author appears to be bashing our state pension system
without justification, by attempting to tie it to social security.
