Mike: Saw you at the game. It was a great effort by the ladies. My daughter and
I loved cheering them on and had a great time!
I hope Steed comes back. She's a tremendous floor general. I've enjoyed watching
the women play on BYUtv this year but have seen it many time where some of the
guards who aren't that great shooting outside (Kim Parker) tend to shoot way too
The Lady Cougars had a very nice season and it was great to see them back in the
NCAA tournament after a 10 year lay-off. As Coach Judkins admitted the team shot
too many 3 pointers and when you don't play the percentages in tournnment play
you usually lose. With Jennifer Hamson you have a dominant player that produces
high percentage shots. You give her half of the BYU 3 point attemps to shoot
inside, she either hits them or gets fouled and BYU would have won this game.
BYU made this same mistake in the sweet sixteen 10 years ago with their start
player shooting 1-18 from the 3 point mark. When you have a game plan based on
sound percentages you have a chance to win. The success of this team this year
was based on the consistent performance of Hamson and her skills at rebounding,
blocking shots and hitting high percentage shots around the basket....in that
regard things looks very good for the future success of this team with her at
The girls had a great season. I'm sure they feel it ended to soon.
Congratulations to them on having so much success this year. I'm looking forward
to their season next year.
Doomed by a horrific start? What--have they been watching the men's team?Congrats on a great season.
While I am very proud of this team's efforts all year long, this loss is very
typical of most, not all, BYU teams in championship competition. Most teams just
can't quite pull off the upset. Just can't quite get to the next round. Just not
yet ready to succeed on the national stage.
werMore jealous whining from the hill trolls. At least
BYU teams give themselves a chance to be showcased on the national stage by
being in the dance. Unlike Utah teams that consistently lose to conference
bottom dwellers, eliminating any chance of even going to the dance.
PS to everybody. Don't forget this game was played on DePaul's home
floor. It was not a neutral site. That the team nearly pulled off the upset is
