Great to see O'Neal Chambers back in the fold. The kid shows a lot of heart.
It could have been easy for him to just walk away. I hope the injury does not
keep him down for long. I also hope Riley Nelson doesn't turn out to be a more
compact version of Tim Tebow. Right now I hold my breath every time he puts the
ball in the air.
Glad Spring ball is here. Basketball has been a welcome reprieve and now spring
practice is here. Football is back!. Go Cougars.
Nelson and pristine execution, a true oxymoron. Sad to think that we will have
another season of Independent scheduling with Nelson at the helm.
Well Riley, for many of us you are still the second choice!
Just curious...why does Nelson only have two throws in practice?
Did you notice what's missing from Nelson?...an entitlement mentality. How
refreshing to see the de facto leader of the team speak as if he could be yanked
tomorrow for "stinking it up." The free market works just as beautifully
in sports as it does in the economy.
I'm very excited about this team. Riley will bring passion and leadership to
the entire team, and this will be a team that never gives up. Our pass ypg will
increase by 100 per game with Hoffman, Apo and Falslev having breakout years.
Alisa and Quezada will keep defenses on their heels. Riley will run less, but
enough to keep defenses wondering. We have some very good games on
the schedule. It's better than last year and much better than a MWC schedule.
Unlike, I Bleed Blue, I have mixed feelings about Chambers. I hope
Bronco keeps him on the defensive side of the ball, and I hope he's gotten rid
of his sour attitude. Every time he had the ball, I cringed at the fear of him
The Cougars should practice real hard. They have big games against New Mexico
St. and Idaho St. next year. Go get 'em boys!
Should be a hugh year!
I Still Can't Say It,Ywp, and good luck with Colorado and Washington
State.Utes--no conference championship or BCS game. Then
comes the whining of playing in a tough conference, and how easy BYU has it.
Hmm! It's already starting.
"I could stink it up, you know," said Nelson. "I didn't complete a
ball in team today and if that continues then I'll be on the bench as quick as
anyone else".Only if BYU is lucky.
I have to give credit to die hard Y fans who are willing to sign up for another
year of Nelson at QB and crappy home schedule. Yes another year of Nelson shot
putting the ball down the field and running around in circles. YUK! BYU used to
be alot of fun to watch - no more. This program continues to skid down hill...
I still Can't Say It wow what a mighty schedule Utah has, Northern Colorado
Bears and the worst of the PAC12 Colorado. I guess they will have to practice
real hard this year to beat Colorado and try to beat the mighty Bears. What a
joke your comments are. Each team has softies on their schedule and Utah does
it year-in-and year out also.
@ worf"Ywp, and good luck with Colorado and Washington
State".I'll take playing Colorado and Washington State any day
over Idaho, Idaho State, San Jose State, New Mexico State (Cougs new rival).
Talking about a boring November schedule the cougies have!"Utes--no conference championship or BCS game".Cougies--
No conference games to play, no conference titles to play for, no BCS bowl games
to play for, and no national championships to plays for. What do you guys have
to look forward to anyway? It's almost that time of year again when
BYU crowns themselves pre-season National Champions and Riley is the pre-season
Heisman Trophy Winner. lol
Altercations?Seems a little out of character for a spiritual band of
Welcome back trolls.Thought you might have hid under the bridge and
stayed there, what with all the success your b-ball team is having. But, I was wrong. The football articles come out and the Y haters
start frothing at the mouth. Let's put all the myths to bed shall we?"We play in the conference of champions!" Big deal. How many
championships you got in there? there is a big difference between playing in a
conference and being a champion."We won two BCS bowls."
Yeah! Call Guinness quick, before the BCS folds and you have nothing to brag
about anymore. they were just bowl games several years ago, what did you do in
the bowl games last year"Oh yeah, your NC was almost 30 years
ago." I'm so glad you can count. The difference is there is only one team
award that transcends the years, it is a NC, not bowl wins, no matter where they
were"but you didn't deserve a NC!" We earned it the same
way every team in the history of college football did. Don't like it? Take it
up with management.
So according to Starfarer, BCS games don't mean anything. So if BYU ever gets to
a BCS game it won't be that big of a deal. You downplay it only because BYU has
never made it to a BCS bowl game. If they ever do, it will then become the
crowning achievement. What do you have to play for now. According to you, Utah
has already watered down the BCS. It no longer means anything.
@StarfarerDoes scoreboard count in your calculus of program
superiority? Because if it does you seem to have forgotten that
Utah is two of the last two and seven of the last ten.But let's not
let little things like facts get in the way of your delusion.
Ah Spring. The flowers begin to bloom, the birds return from the South and the
trolls reemerge from under their bridges.
"To answer your question, Utah has 20 NCAA National Championships to
contribute to the Pac-12's 441 NCAA National Championships. Utah has won more
National Titles than half the conference, just an FYI!"First of
all, you didn't answer his question. The question was: "How many
championships you got in there?" In there = in the PAC. Anyway, your 20
championships sounds impressive on the surface. But let's dig a little deeper.
In how many different sports were those championships? What sports were they,
and how many did they get?Go ahead, since you're obviously proud of
all your national championships, you should be more than happy to say what
sports they were in and how many of each. Go on.
@StarfarerThe 2008 Ute didn't just win just another bowl game, they
were the ONLY undefeated team in the nation and had four top 25 wins. For
comparisons, BYU has only beat 2 final ranked teams since Edwards retired.Even if the BCS folds into Plus-One with BYU still out looking in... We
still have scoreboard 14 of the last 20 years.BYU will struggle,
opposing defenses will just need to put 8-9 in the box and force Nelson to
throw. BYU will be lucky to go 8-4.
UteologyYou still miss the point...Why are you trying to
convince BYU fans that they are not worthy of whatever you think is worthy? So what if u won a BCS bowl and were undefeated. You weren't the first
and you won't be the last. What did you do last year? Nothing. What did you do the year before? Nothing."But your NC
was 30 years ago." Yep it was, and for 30 years we have been in the
discussion of the top programs in the west, if not the country. It is called a
legacy. Take a look around articles and proof is everywhereWhat u
got? 2 BCS wins. Which by the standards of the last two years is starting to
look more and more like an anomaly. We have down years, then we get
right back up into the top 25.For every argument you make BYU can
make a better argument, (go see how many conference and NCs BYU has for ALL
their sports)But the real question remains, why do you come to BYU
boards and try to convince BYU fans that u are better? what drives that?
@Starfarer"For every argument you make BYU can make a better
argument..."**************What about head to head football
competition?Does it matter at all that Utah has won two of the last
two games?Does it matter that Utah has won seven of the last ten
games?Does it matter that Utah has won 12 of the last twenty
games?What is BYU's "better" argument for scoreboard?Hmmmmmm?
