Sounds like Kyle knows what he getting even if it is down the road in a few
years. Out standing young fellow I'd say. Great loving family that gives
support helps a bunch as well. This message coming from a BYU fan to boot.
AS usual, super story by Doug.
Really interesting story and interesting family. Seems like there is a line
between developing the kids like this family and the way robo QB Todd Marinovice
was raised. Hopefully the kids will enjoy their athletic success and would be
great to see more than one become a Ute.
I find it interesting how Whit's not just focusing on the next year, but he's
focusing on the far future and the "pipeline" families. By this, I
don't mean to say that he's using or manipulating them at all. On the contrary,
he's seeing the potential in not just the oldest kid, but in the kids to come.
The reason I say this is because he's also been talking to former Jazz player
Karl Malone and his son Karl Jr. a big, talented OG from Louisiana who also has
a quite a few athletic younger siblings. So, if by nabbing Barton and Malone, we
not only get their incredible skills, but those of their younger siblings in the
future, that's a definite win in my book and a tip of the hat to Whit.
bonemovies, classy comment, I totally agree.
CO Ute, you should look up "The Real Youth Sports Lessons of Jeremy
Lin" on the Forbes magazine site, good article on a similar situation to
this one. It mentions Marv Marinovich as the extreme example of being obsessive,
but suggests for parents to "Have that golden combination of pushy parent
and motivated child." With the kind of talent Jackson Barton has and the
motivation to put in the work, every accolade he receives is well-deserved.
Michigan never used to recruit the state of Utah. This year Michigan signed
the Highland fullback and offered a LB that signed with Utah.It looks like
Hoke watched how good Utah players are when he played against Utah and byu while
he was at SDSU and decided that Utah is an under-rated market for high school
football.I remember this kid's mom at the U. She was the best
athlete on campus.
He and Cody are great kids from a great family. They also are good basketball
players. Jackson has to eat between the Sophomore and Junior Varsity games or
he nearly starves to death. They have a great future a head of them.
Ernest, Mich also offered a sophomore lineman from Highland this year. The
number of quality football players Utah has been producing certainly has
improved a lot in the past few years.
If he is as good as he sounds why waite graduate early. Like next year. Get on
with your career.
Great article. One problem. The kid is going to the U.
We are looking forward to having you on the hill, Jackson! Go
