Here's a thought...Build a secure container for the stuff, strap it
to the top of a rocket and shoot it into the sun. Once you break orbit gravity
will take care of the rest and then nobody here on earth has to deal with it
ever again. The sun will break down whatever we ship up there into its component
atoms. What is really so hard about that?
Why do we continue to make... radioactive waste that only gets more
radioactive over time?
The community that steps up and accepts this project is not only smart, they'll
be wealthy. We need to address the spent fuel issue now so nuclear
power can grow in the future -- it's the best, cleanest option.
It is too bad that some politicians from Utah have come out against the PFS
project because from the way this article makes it sound if Utah wants this
great middle-class job opportunity it could easily be ours. The PFS project
has nothing to due with a nuclear reactor or the used fuel rods that are placed
in cooling pools. The PFS project deals only with used fuel rods that have
cooled to a point where they can be safely stored in Dry-Casks. It can easy be
argued that the storage of used fuel rod in Dry-Casks is the safest part of the
nuclear fuel cycle.Utah has the opportunity to get behind this great
safe middle-class job opportunity but regardless the decision to go ahead with
the PFS project should reside solely with the Goshutes. It is their land and
they should be able to do what they want with it.Jfarmer9

do with smarts, how do you know what this mess is until it gets to hot to
handle, but that's for future folks to deal with. Kickin it down the road again
