Orrin Hatch isn't interested in representing Utahns anymore- he just wants to
stay in Washington. 36 years is far to long for such power. A vote for the
NDAA is certainly not in the interest of the people- but of power
FUND SMALLER CLASS SIZES!!!
Yes Johnson, prayers, that thing that's been done since this country was
born.Try it, you might learn something, like respect.
Heaven help us.
The legislators are elected to represent all of the citizens of the state. However there are times when I wonder if the legislators really believe
that. Some laws are written and passed that benefit the sponsor. He
is a lawyer and works in the Divorce field and writes the law for his benefit by
making it a necessity of an attorney to be involved in the divorce. The husband then spends more than $100,000 to get away from an abusive wife
who ruined his life during marriage and wants to destroy it after the
divorce. And on and on it goes.
âI believe in you. The public believes in you. We should believe in each
other.âSenate President Michael Waddoups, R-Taylorsville===The public believes? Can Sen. Waddoups cite his source?
Cut off ALL State freebies, benefits and any other support given to Illegals!
I had this horrible nightmare last night. I dreamed the Utah legislature was
back in session and Becky Lockhart was speaker of the house. Also in my
nightmare, the Osmonds were singing songs written by Orrin Hatch. I woke up in
a cold sweat with my heart pounding...it was awful.I wonder what
insane laws they'll pass this year in the name of keeping government small?
Probably more useless laws. I think they could meet every 4 years and the state
would continue on functioning quite well. It seems their idea if being a good
representative is to introduce lots of bills and go back to their district and
say, "what a good boy/girl I am. See what I have done for you."
Prayers by one religion? Or all religions? That's what I'd like to know. Stupid
question, since each religion claims it's the true religion. Were American
Indian's allowed to pray to their gods before the Congress?
Actually, if the state legislature passed laws effectively rolling up "the
welcome mat" we have out for illegal aliens they could save up to 400
million per year to use on things for ACTUAL LEGAL CITIZENS.Repealing HB116, revoking the "drivers privilage cards", and NEVER
using state money to print ANYTHING in any language other than English would be
a good starting point.
The public does NOT believe in you, Mr. Waddoups. **'Utahns with
HIV, AIDS upset with Legislative committee's indecision on federal grant
program' - By James Thalman - Deseret News - 04/14/10 'Utah Senate
President Michael Waddoups, R-Taylorsville, along with Republican members of the
state Executive Appropriations Committee, voted to approve state participation
in dozens of other grants at an April 6 meeting. But they unexpectedly held up
the AIDS grant application...' Because you delay funding for
life-saving medications to Utahns... for no, good, reason.
Lets see what damage these right wing zealots can do this year!Or
better put, lets see how far back into the stoneage they can send us this time
around. Two steps forward (Leavitt/Huntsman), 8 steps back (Herbert,
Each governing body, the House and the Senate opened with prayers from LDS
Seventy. Wow, is this General Conference Winter Edition or is the Utah State
Legislature back in session?
I think that it is interesting that it was prayed for that our legislature
realize that getting the credit is not important. I say that when a bill is
presented no name should be attached. Everyone should read the bill and decide
if it is something in the best interest of the State or not and then decide to
support it or not. I think most of them look at the name and say yes or no
based on that alone.
Citizens watch your backs. That should be the title of the article. Closed doors
and secrecy laws I hope don't rule the session.
Could not all our lawmakers just stay home this year and the money saved up in
the Education Fund? Between them and and Washington we are
"legislated" to death. Those things that need to be worked on are
passed over/tabled/left to another time or debated to death. Give the citizens a
break and give the Utah legislature and Congress a year off a year off!!
Um, what happened to seperation of church and state?Oh, that's right
I forgot. If its, "our" religion imposing on everyone else it doesn't
I've always wondered about the "Rainy Day Fund". With Utah always
ranked in the very low end of spending on our youth's education, what exacty
does "Rainy Day" mean if it doesn't apply to Utah's education for it's
So much cynicism. No one is represented 100% of the time. We have
a lot of one-issue folks to whom their issue trumps all else. Problem is there
are nearly three million of us. No-one will be happy 100% of the time. I for one have been generally pleased with our legislature. There have
there been exceptions...of course. My appreciation for those who
truly try to serve the interests of Utah!
I for one will be praying for the Utah State Legislature!FYI - Bees
are Communist / Extreme SocialistJust thought you'd like to know the
facts. What do you say the legislature actually Walks the Talk?!
Take advice from the voters. Repeal HB 116 We dont need guest workers.
I can't believe no one mentioned this great line:"No mans life,
liberty, or property are safe while the Legislature is in session"May the session pass quickly!
All working together for the success of all ---bees are socialist? Oh, yeah,
not in the republic of Utah.
Jim I. Since we don't need guest workers I take it you are volunteering
yourself and your family to help our farmers harvest crops next summer. You
should hear Doug Wright's story about the farmer in Colorado who decided to go
with local help instead of bringing in migrant workers. Big mistake, crops
rotted in the field. Don't work to hard.
Another fiasco fueled by the radical right is coming! If you look sideways at
them they will pass a law. Control freaks attempting to control everyone!
Downsize government and shelve legislation for special interest. Get some sense
of reality, plan for unsustatinable government jobs. Redefine
illegal immigrant as foreign occupation and make illegal aliens and families
POW's and turn them over to the National guard to deport them. Make it a crime
for illegal aliens to abandon their children, force accountability of families
on foreign nationals.Punish and fine business that employ illegal
aliens with or without knowing.Make it illegal for police to harass
people carrying guns openly, a legal right of citizens.Replace
Waddups as speaker, he is endangering the rights of Americans.
My 2 Cents If you were any more to the right you would be in danger of falling
off the edge of the earth. Comments like yours are reason I and many other
Utahns despise right wing conservatism. you are so out of touch with reality it
is unbelievable. Thanks for listening. I just pray others don't embrace your
radicalism. It is views like yours not Obama that concern me.
As H.B.116 was so flawed, I'm looking to forward to seeing if we get real
immigration legislation this year, something that doesn't cost Utah so dearly
and doesn't violate the U.S. Constitution.
