BYU: Zylstra sets 3-point record 8:56 p.m. is the title of the story to get
people to read the article. However, the article title changes when you click
on this statement, and the facts do not support this statement. He tied the
record, he did not set the record. I wonder also who he was shooing. Was he
trying to shoo people away from the basket, or away from the school. Or maybe
he was "shooing/shoeing" a horse.
I confess to being one of the Zylstra critics. I'm glad he had a break out
game, but it was against lesser competition. We need more consistency from the
shooting guard position. It would be nice if Zylstra consistently had 10
points, and 4 rebounds and assists to go along with an occassional break out
game like this. He's had 2 outstanding games this year. We know he has the
potential. Now we just need to see the consistency. I'm anxious to turn from
critic to fan. If he can average over 10 points against St Marys, Zags and Va
Tech; I'll head up his fan club. Go Brock.
CougarBlueFor some people the glass is always half empty. The point
of the article was Brock had a fantastic game, which he did. Who cares whether
some copy writer at the DN posted a title that doesn't meet your
It's all about consistency. Any of the SGs off the bench are capable of a great
night like this. Remember back a few games ago when Winder was being called
"MVP" and all that crazy talk? Yes, Zylstra can get it done sometimes
and he's got seniority, but he's not consistent. What about that top 100 recruit
that can shoot threes too, but also has a 40 inch vert and is always on the
attack? Naturally, we want to see more of that guy.
He won't quiet critics until he reverses the performances that stimulate the
criticism. Namely, stop disappearing in key games. Stop being erratic. Be
someone the team can count upon, not someone who surprises everyone.
Brock doesn't have star potential but he plays smart and plays a team game, to
me that is why he gets so many minutes. Hopefully he can show more consistency
and give us more scoring from the wing. I would like to see Harrison get more
minutes but he is way more inconsistent than Brock and that is holding him back
from getting minutes.
Count me as one of Zylstra's critics who would like to see more of his minutes
go to Winder and Harrison. Its great that he had such a great game at home
against a weak opponent but its all about consistency and Zylstra has been
battling Abuou all season for the award of Most Inconsistent Player.
