I wonder if chow agreed to take less so he could pay more to get a better staff?
I'm not being sarcastic about this but I am really wondering why he would take
so much less than what his predecessor was paid? I wonder if they simply have a
budget and he feels he needs that money to pay better assistant coaches? That just seems like a very low salary for the head coach of a D1
football program. Maybe he simply doesn't care about the $ as he has already
made a bundle so as long as they didn't insult him he was willing to work for
@duckhunterFor once you are probably right.
That's possible, but I also wouldn't be surprised if UH drove a hard bargain for
someone with no head coaching experience. Plus, I believe he is still being paid
UCLA buyout money, but don't quote me on that.
If I were paid $550,000 annually and lived in Hawaii I would consider my life
very successful in monetary terms. Every coach in DI football is vastly
overpaid in reality. But that's the nature of college football and big
business. If you can't figure out a way to live off of half a million dollars a
year than there is something wrong with you. Congrats to Chow and I hope he
thoroughly enjoys Hawaii and the remainder of his life.
