What? How can this be? According to all the u fans who message on these
boards, BYU doesn't have now, or had anytime recently, any coaches wanted by any
other programs. I guess the Wall Street Journal is just another
case of flawed journalism that isn't as accurate as the Y-haters opinions are.
What about Sarkisian at Washington? Look for him to be a top coach for years to
come. I only hope that the Y has a chance to get him some time down the road.
Utah is...and always will be........second best
Oh...I forgot.54-10 and your team quit!!!!
PugmanWhich team quit?Since September 17thBYU 8-1, ranked #26 Coaches, #29 AP, with a road loss to #18 TCU(11-2)Utah 5-4, unranked, with a home loss to #98 Colorado(3-10)
@UoU 1991My second post was a bit of sarcasm, coupled with the reminder
that troller 54-10 always reminds cougar fans of.
wyoming cougar:"According to all the u fans who message on
these boards, BYU doesn't have now, or had anytime recently, any coaches wanted
by any other programs."That's a strawman argument. The fact
that Kyle Whittingham was wanted by BOTH universities disproves your assertion
that we ever said the Y has never had any coaches wanted by anyone. What Ute
fans have been saying is that there aren't any COACHES on the cougars COACHING
STAFF that are wanted by other programs, and, in some cases, not even their
OWN.Take former O.C. Robert Anae for example. Mendenhall made him
either apply for his OWN job, or find work elsewhere. He eventually wound up at
Arizona, but Arizona didn't try to pluck him off of Mendenhall's staff in the
same fashion as other programs come prowling around Whit's staff. Since 2004,
Notre Dame and Florida came to SLC looking for their respective Head Coaches.
Meyer then took several Utah coaches with him to Gainesville...one of whom is
now the Head Coach at Mississippi St. UNLV found a Head Coach within Utah's
coaching mill too. So did Utah State. K-State took an O.C. from Whittingham
back in 2008. Washington initially plucked Roderick off of Whittingham's staff,
only to see him desire to return shortly thereafter. Washington and Tennessee
coveted Whittingham. Hawai'i picked up Chow. That's a lot of movement; none of
which was forced. On the other hand, nobody outside of Provo wants
Bronco. Or Doman. Anae was forced out. So was Crowton. Jaime Hill didn't
leave on his own accord. When schools come to Utah to find their
next guy, that shows a lot of confidence in the abilities of the coaching
pipeline established by Meyer and Whittingham. Even Utah's Athletic Director
and last 2 University Presidents have been courted by larger, better endowed
schools. Cougar coaches have not been similarly desired. Cougar coaches go to
THEM; not the other way around. Utah coaches have the option to stay, or accept
another offer. When cougar coaches talk to other universities, it's because
they no longer have a job in Provo.Mike Riley's seat in Corvalis is
getting a little hot right now. If he has another sub-.500 season next year, he
may get canned. If he does, betcha OSU alum Mendenhall's name....is NOT
mentioned as a potential candidate. And NOT because Mendenhall is happy in
Provo. He, like Doman, will not be wanted.
@naval vetfinally somebody with real wisdom. amen to what you said. i
would love to hear what these ignorant y fans have to try to spin and come up
with now. ok and get ready to take shots from y fans in 3...2...1... GO! LOL
