Time for Alpine district to split in two.
This isn't good news to be the largest but a split would only increase
headaches. Cities like Orem, with little to no growth foreseeable, should
continue as part of Alpine to help fund new schools and growth, just at the
North end of the valley had to do for Orem for years and years. A split will
just result in the problems Jordan/Canyons districts are having currently. The
irony there is that the Canyons seems to be the district with all the problems
even though Jordan has all the growth. Orem would be wise to stick around and
avoid those same problems.
The north end of the valley never had any tax base to fund the growth that
happened in Orem years ago. The money they were paying in taxes went to fund
their own schools if even that. Sure there will be problems for a
year or two but it will be well worth it in the long run.
Alpine ought to be divided into several districts. If Orem did go, both sides
would be benefited, by being able to concentrate on the problems more unique to
