Because of the last few years of deception by local governments that growth and
the economy are improving I find that we are reading different economic
indicators. Profit and servitude are being used to deceive themselves and the
public that we are no longer in a recession. The fact is the recession has never
ended, they just use different data to fool themselves. To the
workers and servants of government (all Citizens) there has not been any
changes, and growth is fictitious. We spend more on welfare than all business in
Utah pays its employees and the longer this cycle continues the more dangerous
and vulnerable we become to dictators and supremest government leadership. We
think of supremest living in hidden camps in the woods but they are actually
sitting in the offices of our government buildings including the White House.
Um. The next major holiday (skipping Veteran's Day) is Thanksgiving. Sigh. Poor
Thanksgiving... never gets a shot.
Glad I live in West Valley City where ALL Trick or Treaters were very polite,
said a cheerful "Happy Halloween" and then "Thank You" and
there were NO candy wrappers littering our lawn, driveway, or sidewalks.I am glad the government has compassion for the less fortunate and
wonder what some people clasify as "welfare". Is welfare
the assistance provided to the homeless and less fortunate or does it also
include the huge salaries of professional athletes and CEO's of large
Hopefully most of us have already done our Christmas shopping online with sales
during the summer. This way the stores do not need to go to the trouble of
hiring extra people during the holidays.
What nonsense. Christmas items have been in most of the local stores since
September. Nipping at Halloween's heels, my foot!
To you know who: Paranoid!
I just want the Christmas music to start!
I hate the holidays. They've become so commercialized that society has lost
focus of the real reasons they exist... for spending time with loved ones and
celebrating all the good things in life. Retailers have given us the joy of
Hallothanksmasnewtines, the holiday that stretches from October to February.
That's practically half the year where we have to put up with retailers forcing
themselves on us. Throw in St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Cinco De Mayo and the 4th
of July and they can almost string us along for the whole year.Do
other people not get sick of it all?
What's with using "Winter Holiday" in the headline. The
season is called "Christmas" except by the loony far left who seek to
wipe out any vestiges of religion anywhere.I could understand this
in the City Weekly or the Tribune, but I hope the political correctness disease
has not infected the staff of the Deseret News. Pity the poor PC people who
wrote this if they find out they work for a paper that is actually connected to,
gasp!, a CHURCH!
I figure that after July 4th mext year the Christmas stuff will be on the shelf
again. . .
Please: Do NOT shop online. Support our local brick and mortar stores that pay
wages and taxes locally. It is bad enough to have most things
"Made in China" but we can choose to buy from local retailers.Merry Christmas. When will Christmas music start being played on the
radio now that advertising Holiday Season gifts has begun?I suspect
that KUFR 91.7 FM will be the only radio station to play sacred Christmas
carols. Local school children can't sing Christmas songs and I get tired of
Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, White Christmas, etc. but no songs
or hymns that mention Christ.
