Animation history is something of a hobby of mine, and I found it interesting
when this article said: "by the same company that worked with
Disney."I feel that is a bit mis-leading. The company itself
has never worked with Disney, individuals from the company have. Big
difference.None the less, it's fun to hear that they are restoring
these films. The animation is decent for being from the 1980's.One
day I'd love to see "Prince of Egypt" quality animated Book of Mormon
films with someone from the First Pres. over looking it. Now THAT would be
I think VeggieTales do a much better job of telling the story as it really is
without any exaggerations, additions, (mis?)interpretations, and such. Living Scriptures is very disappointing to me and I regret the price we paid
for these. They're good to have, but could've been better.
@azgal - VeggieTales does embellish. After all, since when does a chocolate
bunny factory have anything to do with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Rack,
Shack and Benny)? The Living Scriptures has done an amazing job of
bring scriptures to life as well.
From the audio versions to the animated ones, Living Scriptures has done a
wonderful job. Are they as complete as the scriptures themselves? No, but they
bring the scriptures to life and help one learn how to picture in one's mind
other stories one reads in the scriptures.I've been spiritually
blessed by the products -- just pulled out my old cassette New Testament tapes
the other day -- and personally benefitted by the time I spent working for the
company 25 years ago. I learned things about faith and love and overcoming fear
that continue to bless my life.Jared Brown is an American success
story and a Mormon success story, and someone I greatly admire.
It's sad they make these dvds so expensive that they aren't affordable
for so many people. I guess money is more important than sharing gospel
stories. More people would buy these if they were reasonable prices. Typical
dvds run as low as $5 and up to $15 if it is a new released popular movie. Yet
a 30 min animated scripture dvd is over $30. It's just disappointing.
