However, the DOJ is run by Gadiantons, and they will throw their muscle around, just because they can.

The bill is a mirror of the Federal secure communities program. The other three bills passed are very likely unconstitutional and in direct violation of Federal law. Americans have lost representation. People here illegal have the ACLU fighting for them. Our own government could care less about citizens rights.

With Shurtleff and Obama's DOJ did we expect anything else?

I think all illegals currently here in America should have to join some type of on the ground national defense unit overseas for 3 - 5 years before being allowed to work in America. Maybe then they will respect our laws and constitution much more. Our soldiers fight for their freedom in our country. It's time they too pitch in if they want a better life. I am not in support of illegals but if they fight for my country I will then open my hearts to them and welcome them to America!

The one enforcement law was to appease the voters. The three guest worker laws were to entice people here illegally, and help retain those already here.

I don't think the people behind this want change. They want the illegal situation to continue as is. The four laws were never meant to go into effect.

I think both sides are being lied to.

They'll completely take over this country if we don't do something to stop them.

America has had its heart squashed by big business and is having its soul stolen by illegal immigrants.

The tricentenial is in just over 50 years, will America even be recognizable by then?

No surprises from the feds. They WON'T DO THEIR JOB but refuse to allow the states to either.

I am surprised though by the attitudes from our esteemed Utah Senate and House leadership that they DON'T PLAN ON REPEALING our amnesty.......er "guest worker" bill.

I would have thought that Utahs legislative leaders would have gotten the message loud and clear at last GOP convention - those who put the rights of illegal alien trespassers BEFORE the rights of law abiding Utah citizens WILL be voted out of office, ASAP!

How about Stephen Sandstrom for Governor??

Evidence as to what has/is happening to the United States, is appalling:

40% of new jobs created in Texas have gone to --- illegal immigrants

Federal funds for Oregon to attempt to offset losses in the timber industry, went to ---- immgrants.

Now, how many millions of US citizens remain out of work?

If the powerful bureaucracy and legal arm of the federal government were actually doing their job of securing the border and prosecuting people here illegally, the state law would not be necessary.

However, the federal Goliath is about to smite the state David for daring to do the right thing.

Fight this federal abdication of responsibility and usurpation of power by every legal means possible!

The very existence of our country is at stake if the Obama administration is allowed to continue their systematic dismantlement of the rule of law and lack of enforcement of our laws. They must be voted out in 2012!

maybe if the States tell the Feds they will leave the Union unless the Feds start providing for the national defense, Our country is being invaded for Mexico! the Mexican Government aides the people and helps them with books etc on how to get into the US. Personaly I think the US should tell Mexico call of the invasion of your citizens or we will go to war.

Opposition by the ACLU has usually been a pretty good benchmark that a law or policy is a good one.

It would sure be nice to know how Utahns can intervene in the trial, so the rights of US citizens can be upheld. No illegal has the right to steal the identity of a US citizen, yet the Feds protect them (and other ID thieves).

The mission statement of the ACLU "to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States."

The three guest worker laws all tread on constitutional separation of power. It hurts the individual rights of Utah's citizens. Yet they never touched them.

    Agenda? you bet.

I will be doing everything in my power to make sure Shurtleff doesn't get another term in office. The issues in this article will not matter until we can put into place an Attorney General who is more concerned about defending the will of the Utah citizen over personal political ambition and succumbing to the self serving desires of special interest groups.

I don't think they will take the chance of another loss if a Federal court. The district Utah is in is very conservative. The three guest worker bills would be struck down if the Federal government challenged them.

The federal government has failed to handle immigration issues, but it won't let the states handle immigration either. One more example of why we need to throw our "leaders" out in the next election.

    Of course they'll intervene.
    There's an election coming up.
Utah is a plum victory for the left, here in the red state of Utah with Romney on the ballot.

Shurtleff promoted this lame duck bill and he mneeds to be promoted somewhere in Mexico.

I worked on a construction site and one of the many illegals got pulled over because his license plate was 2 years out of date, had no drivers license or insurance, had nonfunctioning tail lights and numerous other issues with his truck. He had worked for that particular contractor for 2 years and he did not speak English very well.

When he was pulled over the policeman issued him a citation to appear in court and I thought too bad for him as he will get the boot out of the country.

He returned from his court date where his contractor went and spoke for him and he had received $150 ticket. Still no current plate or insurance or license. It was not the first time he had been to court.

Had I been in court my fine would have been much higher and all those things would have had to be remedied prior to my driving again.

I wish the system was more black and white.

The obama administration is doing everything in its power to divide us and destroy our sense of nationalism.Christianity, pride of country,man-woman marriage, these are being battered every day by the liberal, socialist czars of the obama administration. He views illegal aliens(not undocumented immigrants, they are no more undocumented immigrants then a drug dealer is an undocumented pharmacist)as merely a political pawn to re-election.Nothing more.Legal latinos need to get used to the idea that the majority of illegal immigrants are coming here from mexico and we NEED to control this situation.I have to show my ID ,ALL the time.Whenever I get stopped for a traffic infraction etc.I have no problem with that.IF you are legal and have nothing to hide you should have no problem with that either,in the name of national security if nothing else.

    Unconstutional, how?
Article I, Section 8; "Congress shall have the power....
"To establish a uniform rule of naturalization,"

Naturalization is decidedly different from Immigration. By an Act of Congress they gave the federal government the right to limit and enforce immigration.

These type laws, somehow, may violate federal law, but not unconstutional. Unless federal law prohibits states to require their agents to comply with, and take action under federal laws then state laws should apply. (Amendment 10, US Constitution)

Arizona SB 1070 law prevents counties and cities having a policy or practice that allows persons to violate federal immigration laws or prevent their police to notify ICE, should it become known they'd encountered an illegal immigrant; and allows, federal certified, local officers to detain and transfer them to ICE agents. This bars sanctuary areas from becoming havens.

It also made Illegal Immigration a Criminal Trespass crime; and, created Traffic Code rules preventing traffic conjestion, related to hiring day workers from crowds congregated on the streets of the state.

Nothing in violation of federal laws.

Federal policy encourages illegal immigration. They're getting free help in enforcing the federal law and they fight against it? How crazy is that?

The true colors of our elected leaders are coming out crystal clear. AG Shurtleff key notes amnesty gathering at the Marriott in downtown SLC. I don't see any concern on his part or Waddoups or Lockharts to the many legal citizens in Utah who are unemployed. It is give instate tuition, ebt cards, section 8 housing even driving privilege cards to those who illegally enter our country and take jobs from those who also have families and need jobs but do it legally. HB116 should be repealed both Waddoups and Lockhart know that their persuasion and other power skills will not be enough to stop a
    motivated citizenry.
