this is going to make an interesting movie but I'll wait till it gets to red box
that way I can see it for only $1.00
The kids are the ones I feel sorry about. Too bad we do not have a
truth meter and could figure out who is telling us stories and who is not. Almost like a game of Clue or a Soap Opera. God Bless those
children. And may the truth come out and those responsible get justice. (They
will eventually but would like to see it here too)
Mr Cox, I totally agree with you about Steven Powell bringing this on himself. I
for one, knew that there had to be something more to this whole story when he
came forward saying that he was going to publish Susan's diaries. Innocent people do not have to make a victim look bad. I am
praying that you and your wife are awarded custody very soon and that you will
have the answers that you so desperately seek.
Editing my previous comment...Innocent people do not have to 'try' to make
a victim look bad. If they do, they usually have something to hide.
The children should stay in neutral custody (and that means nobody in either the
Powell or Cox family should tend them). Under no circumstaces
should they be turned over to Cox -- I can see him emplanting
"memories" to fit his desired view of what happened in the case. The
children have communicated their memories of what happened AT THE TIME their
mother disappeared -- memories which should be preserved -- and they should not
have anyone attempt to over-write those memories to fit his perceptions (as Cox
has shown through is vindictive actions that he would most likely do).
Mrsb1971: couldn't have said it better. And to chuck cox: I hope vidication will
continue with you and judy getting custody, and the discovery of your daughter,
who we all know was a loyal, strong, wonderful mother. And a friend to all.
Chuck, I truly hope you are right and that a conclusion is close. I honestly
hope you gain custody of your two grandchildren, they need stability and decent
role models in their lives.
"Chuck Cox believes a conclusion to the mystery surrounding his daughter's
disappearance is coming, including an arrest and the discovery of his
daughter".---I don't see what he sees, but I hope I
am wrong. I want the same thing he does.
The children should be with those who love them the most. "Neutral
custody" is like warehousing them. They are not robots or even animals,
they are two little children with fears, needs, and their own personal memories.
They have not been questioned by the police and have spent almost two
years with those who could have tried to twist their memories. Chuck Cox
did not have anything to do with his daughters disappearance, nore has he lied
to the police or covered anything up. He has been an open book. Sr and Jr
Powell have done everything in their power to prevent the truth from coming out,
including trying to release her childhood journals and infering that Susan may
have committed suicide. They have a lot to hide?
furry- so what you are saying is the powells have no issues it's the Coxes that
have issues.....I find that hard to understand based on such a huge huge
difference. Powells seem to think it's ok to have relations or I mean imagined
relations with your son's wife. For a husband to hear this and not be upset is
amazing...not saying Coxes are perfect but Powells seem to top the dysfunctional
With Steven in jail and soon prison their environment will likely to be found to
be safe as far as the court of law is concerned. Unless they pin something on
Josh as well the children will go back to him. In other child custody cases
children always go to the nearest relative in a safe environment. If a father is a druggie or abusive, the mother keeps the kids if she moves to
a safe environment. Similar here where the grandfather has been caught, but the
father has no evidence on him. I as a parent I don't want CPS to have smaller
burden proof than they already have just because a lynch mob is out to get
somebody without proof.Btw the most frequent convictions are perjury
and obstruction of justice, so if you think the police want to pin a conviction
on you don't cooperate. On the other hand Steve and Josh could have
planned this so that that Steve takes the fall while Josh keeps the kids.
To mcdeere72 | 12:36 p.m. Sept. 25, 2011 I've said nothing to
indicate that I want the Powells to have custody of the children at the present
time. What I want, and what I have said I want, is for the children to be
placed with a neutral caretaker, unconected with either family, to get them away
from from the "drama" (for lack of a beter word) that surrounds this
case. If nothing else, having the children placed with a neutral caregiver
keeps both sides from manipulating their memories and planting false memories.
I would hope a judge will allow a child interview expert to question the
children while they are in state protection. Maybe they will tell what they have
seen in a protected enviroment. It takes a long time for children to gain trust,
even longer if they have been abused or threatened by their closest adult
relatives. The burden of proof is different in family court.
Flurry1993 - what are you talking about? Vindictive? His daughter is missing
and presumed dead and the people closest to her at the time she went missing are
difficult at best. You must be one of them to write such a post. I
think Mr Cox has been a remarkably good advocate for his daughter. He's
tenacious, not vindictive. I may have done bodily harm had it been my daughter,
which I suppose you would have been correct to label vindictive.
Mike: The household of the Powells is not the right environment. You now have 3
non-working adults: The sister, a brother with Bi-polar, and Josh. Although
Josh may be nurturing to the boys, he is in an unstable situation. You can see
the strain on his face, he's losing weight, and looking rattled. Loosing his
boys would be part of his stress, to be sure I'd come unglued if faced with
that, but you have to admit he's been uncooperative. Professionals should have
interviewed his children. The children should be in therapy for the absence of
their mother, and what parent takes little kids camping in freezing weather at
that hour of the morning when you haven't scheduled the days off with the
babysitters, preschools and your own employer?
to JustThinkingOutloud | 5:19 p.m. First and foremost, I am not
related to, nor am I acquainted with, anyone in either the Powell or Cox family
or any of their friends. Because I am an outsider, I have no vested interest in
either side of the controversy. I look at it with an impartial eye, and don't
jump to conclusions favoring or condemning either side. There is no
proof whether Susan Powell is alive or dead. There is no evidence showing that
she met with bodily harm. In fact, there is no proof whether she met with foul
play or went missing of her own volition. Let me repeat that -- there is no
proof what happened to Susan Powell. No "presumption" is valid. For those who are so willing to jump to conclusions -- remember Richard
Ricci from the Elizabeth Smart case who died in jail from a brain hemorrhage a
few weeks after he refused to provide a confession to Utah corrections officers
for a crime he did not commit. He was innocent yet everyone jumped to the
conclusion that he was guilty. When you convict Powell in the media without
proof, you may be doing the same thing.
There is no good reason that I can think of, (and I am a creative goy) for Josh
to keep these two precious children from being with their functional
grandparents, other than to not allow them to tell anything about their mother.
I mean he won't even let them see each other. If that is not suspicious then
Go Cox family. Please keep the pressure on Josh to tell the truth. Interesting
that, with time (I know that Mr. Cox probably went through heck waiting for his
name to be cleared) Mr. Cox has been proven to be the guy that can be trusted
and Mr. Powell has finally proven that he is at the bottom of the pond. He is a
