So who are you going to believe now....Susan's supposed claim that this guy is a "creep" or his version of her that she was a "flirt?"

His behavior didn't pass the smell test; not even close.

    Sick, sick, sick.

Time to get those boys out of that house.

From a Deseret News article published Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 in regards to the search warrant that took place at his home:

"In addition to his daughter-in-law's journals, Steven Powell said potentially "embarrassing" pictures, videos and journals belonging to him were also seized by police."

    Embarrassing indeed, Mr. Powell.

Shudder. Those poor children and their mother. And now Susan's parents have to witness not only their daughter's name dragged through the mud, but know just what type of man has unfettered access to their grandchildren. I very much hope that creep is kept far away from those two boys.

Why do I feel like I am watching reality TV? Anyone around (without a restraining order) who can help the little ones that have been living amidst this dangerous drama for the last two years? At least there is one less shady character for them to deal with, how many more to go? Keep up the good work, police force!

I wonder why Steven Powell would stick around when he knew these videos were taken from his home. Many people would disappear.

Those poor children, I hope they get the proper care their gonna need. I think this just sheds more light onto the type of family josh was raised by, and what he is capable of.... The apple usually doesnt fall far from the tree. I agree with the above post about this being leverage, if josh's dad knows anything they'll be able to interogate it out of him.

This is good news, not surprising though. A note to the Washington State authorities, it's time to get Susan's sons out of that house. Now that you know what kind of a warped environment they have been living in, you should have no problem taking them away from their Father and putting them in a safe place. Step up and do the right thing for these boys.

So Steven Powell was having some sort of relationship with his daughter in law. Josh Powell lives with his father despite this knowledge. I guess Josh is ok with his father having a thing for his wife? Now that is creepy. If my father had done that I wouldn't have anything to do with him. The Powell family just keeps getting more bizarre if that is possible.

The professionalism of all the inner workings and coordination of the West Valley City police, the Juab Sheriff Department, the Puyallup Police Department, the Pierce County Sheriff Department, Medical and Forensic personnel, so far is working great. Thanks to the judges and warrant process as those professionals do a good job to ensure this case keeps moving forward. We have rights as citizens but it appears those two boys need to have protection from their environment and the Washington DCFS equivalent will hopefully do the right thing for those boys as they have suffered a lot over the past at least 2 years.

Thanks to all who are praying for this case to resolve.

I am amazed at the arrogance (stupidity?) of going to the national news media and calling into question Susans' character while having such a dirty little secret stored on your own computer. Guess he wanted 15 more minutes of fame.

The first rather plausible (but still very unbelievable)reason that Susan may have "run away with that other guy that went missing about the same time." Like we all believed in that story! If I had a husband and father-in-law such as Susan's, I would have run away, too, but never without taking my children with me. Something stinketh in Denmark, so to speak.

I would like to suggest to Deseret News add the strong denials by Susan's family and sister-in-law about the supposed flirting whenever they report on the father-in-law's claims so that new readers have both sides of the story.

Well, I will try to get by the DS monitors again. Here is my modified response:
It is nice that the posters here recognize the flaw in the character of the father-in-law, but apparently you all seem to also recognize, without having viewed the videos, the completely unflawed character of the daughter-in-law. What happens, however, if the videos show the daughter-in-law being an agreeable accomplice, possibly even flirting? It might just cast a different light on the situation.

The more evidence they locate the more it looks like Steven Powell done it and his son is just trying to create a diversion to cover for the father.
I agree the feeling of compassion should be for the boys and Susan's family.
We now know what a bunch of sick individuals the father and son are.
Probability Susan was going to expose the scenario so she had to be done away with.

TandJ, good job trying to "modify" response carefully. Reasonable question to ask if you believe what Josh and Steven have been saying.

In a related DN article, it says a couple of times that Susan Cox Powell was filmed by Steven, but she was obviously unaware of being filmed.

No more questions, please, about Susan's character. She is/was a normal, healthy, good person. No one is perfect, but she was obviously a good person.

Those who are interested in this case (I am on the edge of my seat because Josh has been to my house 3 times and talked to me. I thought he was a bit odd...), ought to question the characters of Josh and Steven.

It goes to show what horrible things porn can do to people. And what other obsessions can do. Good job police department, et al. They are doing everything in an orderly, professional manner. Who knows what else will be discovered.

And Good job Cox family for filing for custody of the boys.

Heidi, please dont blame any vice, he is a bad person. Images or any other addiction didnt force him to behave this way, it was a continued calculated choice to behave this way, dont take that responsibility off josh's father. I have multiple friends who are current pierce county deputies, they are committed to ending this, and I thought local news org's reported that the children were already removed and in protective custody, but I would like to see that quickly chamge and go to susan's parents.

Susan can not defend herself against these alegations. The only reason the father in law said they had a relationship was to protect himself when they found the pictures. There is no way it was a consentual relationship. The pictures were taken without her knowledge.
