So finding one Regent from a real rural portion of the state is that difficult.
Nephi, Midway are really part of the expanding urban sprawl of urban utah. Not
exactly downtown Salt Lake, but certainly not Price or Manti or Richfeild or
Kanab or Randolph either. As for Mr. Clyde it sounds like his suggestions would
be better received as a member of the state board of education. Afterall unless
it is a University, it can't be Utah Higher Education. Just ask Utah Community
College, oh that is correct it is not UVU.
What a silly law. Nothing against the folks from Panguitch and Kanab, but how
about a law requiring the gov to appoint people who are actually qualified to
serve? That would be revolutionary indeed. . .
Good law and good policy. Keep it.And, add a requirement that one
or two members be from a profitable private sector business that is not involved
in the education business, or a lawyer. The "customers" for
the output of our colleges need to be represented as well as the inner circles
Ahhh jerrymandering at it's finest! How about a law saying the member
need to be qualified educators and not buddies of the governor?
