Heaps over-throws far too often. Yes, I know he's only a sophomore but he
overthrows his receiver too often. Receivers can't catch it if they can't touch
it.Why do we insist on setting up the pass with the run? I'd do the
opposite. LaVell made BYU THE premier passing team in the nation for decades.
EVERYBODY knew BYU threw the ball, and we won doing it. Why do we not do that
now? I don't believe for a second our receivers don't have the talent required
to do this. So what if Jake Heaps is still green at times. Throw the ball
40-45 times a game and let him find enough rythm and confidence it will carry
over from week to week.We lack the swagger on offense our greatest
teams had. Didn't matter if we were down by 10 in the middle of the 4th
quarter. Everyone in the stands KNEW that if we had the ball it was going to
end up a TD. Period. We were going to beat you. It wasn't a matter of
"if", it was only a question of "how".We
(largely) self-destructed and the Utes capitalized.Keep swinging,
BTW, very, very nice drive by the Utes late in the second quarter to score that
TD right before the half. 60+ yards in 6 plays? That's an average of OVER 10
yards for every play. That's how BYU has done it in years past and how we need
to do it now.Utah's TE Murhpy is only a freshman? I predict he's
going to the NFL after a solid and highly productive college career like Utah's
TE in the 80s (can't remember his name). That guy was money tonight.I also thought the pass interference call against BYU's #44 in the 2nd quarter
was TOTALLY bogus. Horrible, horrible call. I'd gladly forego any bad calls
that go for us if we could get rid of all the bad calls that go against us.GO COUGARS!
Five keys to victory, for real you want to stick to that title. It
simply boils down to one key, that is BYU swallowed hock line and sinker the
hype around Heaps, blinded by there own arrogance, BYU is now nothing more then
a pathetic figure in a Shakespearean tragic comedy of errors. Please,
Bronco you have valiantly fallen on the sword for the terrible BYU performance
of D1 football, so please stop with excuses and put the right players in that
will play with courage, leadership and maturity that this team needs.I am sad that Heaps will forever be the QB1 linked to this historic loss to
the nemesis, rival, PAC 12 University of Utah running Utes.No one
will talk about Doman, they will only remember Jake Heaps was that guy.
I have to say, I don't think that turnovers are the majority of why Utah won.
Teams have turned the ball over in games and still won. It's how BYU RESPONDED
to those turnovers. Also, if Utah doesn't score on ANY of those fumbles, they
still win 23-10. I keep saying that turnovers are 100% responsible for the
blowout, not as much for BYU's loss. I really think that if you broke this down,
50% or more has to go to BYU not playing with heart when things got ugly. Also,
Wynn played fantastic. If the game is closer because BYU doesn't turn over the
ball, Wynn would likely finish with around the same amount of yards as Heaps
with 2 or more TDs. You can't say that Wynn wasn't a factor in this game. He was
clutch at the end of the 1st half. You want to win? Shut those passing drives
down. Heck, we were very one dimensional until the end of the 3rd quarter.
Thank you media for making all of us Cougar fans believe the offense was great.
