Let's talk about a nice, warm welcome to the Utes' new status of middle-tier BCS
fodder. They'll be stuck there indefinitely now, why will top-tier recruits
choose Utah when they can choose somewhere flashier in the same conference?
That high? Really?
I have to agree with Duckhunter on this one. They are very lucky to be in the
Southern Division. Of course, last year 7 of the worst AQ teams were in the PAC
10...now they have 9 of the worst AQ teams in the PAC 10.2.
The middle of the PAC major Utes are going to dominate another mediocre
independent this week, just like we did last year.BYU 28Utah
3It's a great time to be a Ute.
I think that is where they deserve to be until they earn more. The game against
ASU will probably be their biggest benchmark game of the season.
Very soon that ranking will be in the double digits.
Y trolls, weren't ya'll the ones predicting the Utes would be cellar
dwellers?Your delusions, it appears, don't seem to be relegated only
to BYU's juggernaut offense.
Wow, the BYU folks just can't stay away. I would think having your offense
humbled in two consecutive weeks would have backed you off a bit. How's that
national title quest coming? What about Jake Heaps' Heisman? This
ranking is about where we should be and where I expected us to be. With only
USC and AZ St. from our division ahead of us. Especially after a respectable
showing against the team ranked 3rd. An upset win over AZ St. and we could play
for the conference title as long as we take care of business against the teams
we are supposed to beat.
@ Duckhunter | 10:46 a.m. Sept. 15, 2011 Highland, UT Thank
you for continuing to make my point. The Utes have Howie and the Cougars have
Duckhunter. Neither side is the better off.
7th may be a little high considering Utah's QB problems; Arizona State is a must
win if the Utes are going to have any chance of winning the weak PAC 12 south.
MiP:I find your post very curious. After one PAC 12 game Utah is 0-1
and according to these particular rankings ranked 7th. The Utes first game also
figures into the power rankings. There are teams in the PAC who did not beat or
barely beat FCS opponents their first week. So Utah is ranked ahead of them. You are CORRECT in your insinutaion that after 1 week it it too early to
proclaim the Utes cellar dwellers. But it is also too early to say that they
won't be. It is also interesting that you choose to call BYU fans delusional for
proclaiming to have a juggernaut offense, when Utah has only put up 27 pts
(against an FCS opponent), and 14 pts respectively in their two games thus
far.How are BYU fans who think the Y has a terrific offense any more
delusional than you proclaiming Utah won't end up in the bottom of the PAC 12
(only because they aren't ranked there after only 1 game) due to their lack of
offense? It seems the only delusion on this comment board is your
That's right about where we finished vs. our conference brethren in our 1st year
in the recruiting wars too. So much for that "bottom feeder" cougar
fantasy. Haha! Now, if I'm not mistaken, you're all still a
mid-majored Indy-WACer, arent' you?[*snicker*]The
problem for you is "mid-majored Indy-WACer" is the best you can hope
for. We can always improve.Edge: Utah.
Well said Naval Vet!!I like that mid majored "Indy-WACer"
comment. So very very true!!! You can tell from this article that little
brother syndrome is alive and well.
@carnakConsidering 90% of your posts are simply in reply to mine it
would seem the most obsessed poster on these boards is none other than:
Naval VetSo how is it that BYU cannot improve being a
"mid-majored Indy-WACer" as you say. Didn't the Utesies open up their
schedule against the Big Sky? Meanwhile BYU is playing in the SEC and Big 12 and
is improving their schedule year after year with the likes of Texas, Notre Dame,
Georgia Tech, Boise State, etc etc etc. BYU appears to be doing just fine.
@ Carnak | 12:59 p.m. Sept. 15, 2011 Salt Lake City, UT Good
jarka:Utah will have played a minimum of 10 BCS-level opponents in
2011, and only because Iowa State backed out of their return game and left us
with a Big Sky opponent instead. And speaking of Big Sky opponent....Idaho
State? Weren't they the worst team in the Big Sky last year, having won only
ONE game? And THAT game was vs. an NAIA opponent. At least MSU was the
conference co-champion. That is SO typical of your fanbase to hypocritically
call out Utah for playing a Big Sky opponent, when not only do you play one too,
but yours is substantially worse.I haven't seen much improvement
with your future schedules either. The Utes will have played 10 BCS-level
schools in 2011. Do you have a year you can point to where you will play even
HALF that many? And if you think your schedules are pathetic now, wait'll you
see what they look like if college football migrates to the 4 super conferences!
You'll be left out. Unwanted. Mid-majored. WAC-ish.
Mormon UteBYU lost by one point on the road to a team ranked #23.
Appears that is a respectable loss as well. More so than to a USC team who isn't
ranked and by 9 points. And are you saying that Ute fans haven't mentioned
anything about playing year after year in the Rose Bowl and National
championship the second you joined the PAC?
@ Duckhunter | 3:54 p.m. Sept. 15, 2011 Highland, UT "Thank you for continuing to make my point. The Utes have Howie and the
Cougars have Duckhunter. Neither side is the better off."Again.Can't talk now, off to my quarterback lessons.
Naval Vet C'mon really? 10 BCS level teams, who? where? So typical
of your fan base. You really think Wazzzooooo, Colorado, UCLA, Pitt and even
Washington are ALL BCS level teams? Not a chance. Just because a team is in a
"BCS" conf. doesn't mean they are somehow superior to other fodder
that BYU may play. Then explain how Texas, Notre Dame, Boise State, Georgia
Tech, are not BCS level teams. They are all on BYU's schedule next year. There
are four chump teams as well but that easily matches Utah's fodder as well as I
jarka:Texas is not on your schedule next year. At present, the only
BCS teams on your schedule for 2012 is Utah, Oregon St, and Ga. Tech. Notre
Dame is not a BCS team. They are an Independent with "special" BCS
accomodations not afforded any other Independent team. So you have 3 plus Notre
Dame. In other words, not quite half the 10 teams Utah will be playing this
season. Case closed.By the way, in addition to Utah, I see you also
have games scheduled vs. Utah St. AND Weber St. What? No SUU? Wow. Bronco
wasn't kidding when he said he wanted a state championship. Too bad he won't
Naval VetThe Utes don't have a team capable of even sniffing a BCS
championship game, so what does it matter who you play. This year's Utah team
will be lucky to win 7 games, IF Wynn stays healthy, and next year's team will
be breaking in a new QB.btw, last season's combined of this season's
opponentsBYU - 72-79Utah - 73-76 except for
USC, not one of Utah's PAC 12 opponents had a better record than BYU last
season; the mighty PAC 12 indeed
@naval vetYou say "bcs" as if that also means good. LOL!
You people are all petty. No wonder Utah and BYU hate each other so bad. The
fans from both sides have brought it to a new low. It's just a football game.
The best team on the field on Saturday will win, it is still just a game between
two great schools. Learn to grow up, get a life, and quit arguing semantics.
Some of you people must spend hours digging up this information. Enough said, I
am still a big Ute, probably more so than most of you Utes on this sight. I
have had season tickets for over 40 years, I sit on the West side on the 49 yard
line, I will not tell you the row, and I cheer my guts out. But at the end of
the day, it is a game.Anyway, GO UTES
Big Daddy Utahspeaking of semantics"probably more so than most
of you Utes on this sight"
Duckhunter will always find a way to put down the Utes. Even after we win
tomorrow he will find a way to avoid the healthy helping of humble pie he
deserves. Just like he did when the Pac 12 media deal was anounced.
navel vet.You have "missed the boat." Of course the PAC-10
wanted Utah & Colorado, instead of BYU. Why would you invite
"Top-Tier" teams to your conference to make it more difficult for the
teams that are already there.Stop the talk about conferences and
schedules and take a look at the "head-to-head" game scheduled for
this weekend. Let's talk after this weekend about who is the better team!
gb13:"Why would you invite 'Top-Tier' teams to your conference
to make it more difficult for the teams that are already there."Right now, the Pac-12 is looking at inviting Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and
Oklahoma St. Are those the bottom teams of the Big XII in YOUR world?Right now, the SEC is looking for a 14th team to offset the addition of Texas
A&M. The top 2 teams widely projected to receive that invitation are Va.
Tech or Missouri. Are they the bottom of the ACC and/or Big XII?The
BigTen added Nebraska. If they were seeking bottom-level teams, why didn't they
add Iowa State? Or Buffalo? And you're suggesting that it was I who
had "missed the boat"? Typical coug.
