If that is true what he did, he is not a prophet, he is disgusting. That is
terrible and a crime against humanity. If convicted, throw the key away.
Some people for some reason do not care enough to think about what they are
doing. Jeffs is caught up in this practice his father instilled in his head of
being able to do anything he wanted. I wished that those followers could
understand better by understanding their scriptures better. Right now they are
willing to be led to do any thing right or wrong and accept that it is alright.
I am just glad that I was not raised that way and was encouraged to read and
understand the scriptures and know right from wrong and do my best to think for
myself and do the best thing foremost. I don't want to be in the same universe
when those church leaders are judged for their action and wrong teachings.
As reported by the SLT"Jeffs entered into evidence three books
that are the foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the
Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great
Price."Why did the DN leave out this detail?
Listening to his statements it is clear that he will be right back at it if he
BebyebeDid the SLT mention that one of Jeff's witnesses read from
the Book of Mormon? Some people really have to grasp at straws to
find something to whine about.
To Bebyebe----OK, read the article in the DN again. It does mention what you
say it doesn't.
Jeffs is of the mistaken idea that "Religious Freedom" will get him
off the hook.He hasnt even denied these crimes once. As Brian says,
he would be right back at it.There has to be a line drawn in the
sand. Unfortunately, many fundamental sects are so used to crossing the legal
line, (and enabled to do so) they just dont know where to stop.
Move over Tony Alamo is there room for another?
I don't think that Jeffs has seen enough of the real world to understand that
the folks observing the proceedings are blown away by his naive approach to the
Too bad the bumbling Utah Attorney General's office wouldn't/didn't prosecute
Warren Jeffs when it had multiple chances. This abuse these girls had inflicted
upon them could have been avoided altogether.
These poor girls forced into marriage when they should be giggling with their
girlfriends and dreaming about getting married when they are adults. Instead
they are forced into slavery and being raped. It makes me sick to my stomach to
see just this one picture.
Wonder what the comments would be from Mormons if we went back about 120
years? Also, before there were laws delineating 18 as a
"proper" age to marry and conceive, again, when Mormons first began
polygamy, I wonder at what age some of these young women had to marry and have
children? With that said, we do now have laws about this issue which
I believe supercede any religious right Mr. Jeffs may claim! Lock him up!
So sad to think that what Jeffs did to these 2 young girls has been done
repeatedly to who knows how many young people, by who knows how many old men???
I appreciate DR Hall's comments above about Jeffs being caught up in this from
his childhood and taught by his father. Even he, in some sense, is a victim of
this twisted religion. I think he's going to get convicted, as he should, and
I'll be grateful that he's going to be in jail for life. At the same time, I'm
saddened that it's gone on for so many years with so many victims, and no real
prospects for ending this organized ring of child abuse and brain-washery.Its also sickening that they try to say it's a religious freedom issue.
OK, maybe when it's consenting adults involved, I could listen to that argument.
But institutionalized pedophilia is clearly OUTSIDE your rights. What is the next step in stopping this stuff? The victims think they're
following a prophet. How do you stop a crime ring when its victims are, in
large part, not speaking out? You gotta' wait until the perp records himself on
an audio tape?
This is sick and disgusting. These poor children are taught they are the
chosen. How can a mother turn her baby over to such a monster.
So he sexually assaulted a 12 year old girl on audio tape, in front of his other
wives? It says there were other female voices in the room. What makes him any
different from the two men arrested for child internet pron? Oh yah, he used God
as his excuss to molest children. This in my eyes is the same evil and he should
recieve the same punishment. 119 years in the prison general population.
There were many commentators to the paper that criticized the Texas authorities.
Where are they now? When this is all over there will be local law enforcement
officers in Southern Utah and Arizona that follow him as there leader when he is
in prison. Those same "law enforcement" agencies protected the
organization that allowed forced marriage of twelve year olds, will be at work
in Hilldale, Utah.
Misguided people exist in every city, state, and frame of thought. Misguided
people make poor decisions. We've got to stay educated and keep our wits in
order to avoid similar mistakes. No one is immune to temptations, how we deal
with those temptations is another issue...
As a Mormon friend in good standing once told me:"We Mormons have
difficulty discerning Revelation."True story.
Jeffs is Not A Mormon!!!Mormons do not Rape kids, as part of their
belief system.Jeffs is a Rapeist.Child Rapeist please
Note Jeffs is in Jail. Jeffs is not going to Rape anyone else. Jeffs is Not
going to be getting any any more.Jeffs except for his victims suing
to get the assets of his so called church,is a non Issue.
