Sometimes the demons are just too strong. I hope Jeret is now at peace.
I'm sorry to hear about Speedy's death. I've had depression all my life. You
have to live with it. I'm sorry Speedy. I hope you are in a better place.
It's a tragedy that someone who is so successful for our country, is also failed
by our country, by the inability to recognize and help him rid his demonds. RIP
Can we get a more compassionate picture of Jeret for this story?
These bold and daring kids spend their lives taking risks -- and there's no
recognition of the linkage between what makes them winners and other risk-taking
behavior. How many times have we heard of an athlete going to rehab?
This country did not fail Speedy. Give me a break. If anything we
gave him more than most.It seems like very few people want to be
held accountable for their own actions these days.Stop doing drugs
and drinking. It doesn't seem to be helping anyone's life.If you
continue to make those choices and it doesn't make you happy. Then please don't
blame our Country.Thanks.
Seriously Des News?!? A mug shot is all you could find for an olympic silver
medalist? Thumbs down.
Although I feel for Speedy and all he went through, did he ever get the
psychological help he so desperately needed? It almost sounds like he had manic
depression, not just the "normal" depression. His actions were
screaming for help. People with mania tendencies need psychological counseling
and medication to correct the imbalances of their lives.
Sad.The greatest public successes and accolades cannot fill the void
of a troubled, abusused, and lonely childhood.May God bring peace to
Riles: What else do you expect? This is what the d-news has become....a
churchier version of Faux News.
Sad, sad story. Condolences to his family.
I honestly didn't expect anyone to listen...so hats off to whoever changed the
mugshot to a picture of Speedy in victory. Much better.
