"Children of Debt, Inheritors of War"Sounds like a pretty
accurate description of Generation Y to me.
What a nice campaign year gift for Hatch - now he can start his anti-flag
burning amendment speeches again.....The First Amendment Freedom of
Speech guarantee is first and foremost meant to protect political speech. These
protestors were well within their rights.
It is not important as to if I agree or disagree with these people expressing
their feelings.I have to ask what other country would allow such free and
open acts with causing civil unrest. In one respect I do agree with the
protestors, MY country has its faults and problems, but until someone can show
me a better place to live. I will stay and stand beside those who defend her
Although there is nothing illegal about what they did, Jerez and pals are either
misinformed or naive. This generation is not the first, nor will it
be the last, that has been "children of debt; inheritors of war."There is nothing unique about this generation when it comes to
inheriting debt and war. From 1930 to 1940, the national debt (as a
percent of GDP) ranged from 20% to just above 50%.World War II and
the decades following, saw the national debt jump to over 120% of GDP before
being whittled away and returning to around 50% by the mid-1960s under Kennedy
and LBJ.From 1970 through the early 1980's, Nixon, Ford, and Carter
all reduced the national debt to under 40% of GDP.Then the
Bush/Reagan "voodoo economics" jacked the national debt up to about
70% GDP before Clinton reduced it to 60%. Bush Jr. then went berserk and
launched the national debt up above 90% of GDP, which is what Obama
inherited. The Reagans and Bushes are directly responsible for over
3/4 of the current national debt ($9.2 trillion out of over $12 Trillion). So who, really, are the "fiscal conservatives"?
another victory for the First Amendment they have the guarenteed constitutional
protection to free speech !
"Jerez said the demonstration in Hyrum was meant as a criticism of the
government." The flag doesn't represent the government, it represents the
people of the United States of America. In my opinion they were trying to insult
the American People, and their traditions.
Apparently the people of Utah don't know anything about the symbol of their own
country. This was not a desecration, it was a demonstration of the danger the
USA is in.Putting the flag upside down does have some real meaning
and purpose, it is a an old signal that americans are in trouble. The message
was the warning so all could understand. As far as I can see in the country
today, every flag should be flying upside down. Mexico has invaded
us and dictating our laws and stealing our money, a president who hates America,
and legislators who put greed and money above their duties to the country, and
soldiers who fight political wars where the enemy can only be defined as someone
who shoots at them. This country has sent all its power (industry and jobs) to
foreign nations and the only thing we have left to call an industry is the will
to work but no place to work.Yes if ever there was a cause to fly
the flag upside down on the White House, these are the days and the time to do
Justin Jerez has it right when he described his group of protestors and
"Children" "We took our flag and walked down the street talking
amongst ourselves" "So people would see us". Narsacisstic
kiddies having a tantrum. Me thinks its time for the "childred" to
put in their big boy panties and grow up.
