Gentlemen, you have my gratitude. I would of gladly contributed.
I have a comment, that reaches beyond your willingness to help with the fine.
Thank You for a job well done. The Taxpayers are being use and abuse by illegals
who break the laws.
Here's one combat veteran who will not be joining their organization. How does
paying criminal fines help combat veterans?
If Leah Carson's list leads to the arrest of only one person and prevents the
murder of one Police Officer, Highway Patrolman or Sheriff's Deputy... or
worse... the murder of thousands as on Sept 11th 2001 then it will have paid for
itself a thousand times over. Ms. Carson is the victim in this situation and
not the illegal aliens. Too much is being left to chance by not having stronger
controls over immigration. In reallity it won't be long till they start finding
mass graves on our side of the border if we don't enact and enforce stronger
immigration laws. Who ever made the threat against the veterans group speaks
volumes to what menace is really out there.
Am I the only one who sees this association as something other than simply
"veterans" paying this fine??They may be veterans, but I
know a veteran who is appalled at being lumped in with those who support those
who "ignore the law" by creating a list and leaking it--all in the
name of hoping to compromise those who they decry for "ignoring the
law" and being illegal.
It's pathetic when "rescuers" pay fines and thereby make heroes of
Pick and choose your lawbreakers...it is the Utah way.
Well done, vets! Now, what has AG Shurtleff done since "the
list" was created to either check to see if those names were indeed people
violating out laws? And, what have state agencies done to search out
criminals in our midst using the data available in state databases? The "list makers" should be hailed as heroes, not vilified and
See, compassion isn't that bad is it? Lots of people talk against it, but
apparently they have come around? Or is compassion only for us and our
friends?Show me anyone who has refused a warning ticket for breaking
the law and then insisted they want the wrong thing.
Now THAT is what I call compassion! I will be donating to this Veterans
Sorry but until I saw that she was showing a great deal of remorse for what she
did, I'd not rescue her. I believe in consequences for our actions. That's how
we learn. Its not my job to impose consequences; its the court's job. The
consequences have now been imposed and I don't think it makes any sense for
anyone else to stand up and agree to suffer any part of her consequences. I've
seen no evidence in the press that she is trying to pay one penney of
restitution for what she did.
Excellent, the veterans have fought for freedom and understand when its being
stolen from us by poor government action.
After witnessing the way Yapias attacked this women in the courthouse calling
her a felon.......I immediately decided that these two women are hero's! Yapias
seems to forget that it is a felony to steal social security #'s punishable by
upto a $250K fine/six months in Jail! Most all of the 1300 on the list are
guilty of this ID crime....shurtleff says he does have the money to prosecute
those on the list.....all he needed was to collect on one fine conviction?
I'm glad that at least some of the people are standing up for what's right. If
citizens don't take action to defend this nation from threats within our own
borders we will lose it.
Hooray for the Vets! I think they get it!
I was REALLY hoping that these cases would be heard by a jury.NO WAY
would they have been convicted by 12 Utahns.
The problem some of you might not realize is that the "list" contained
more legal citizens' names on it than illegals.
Jesus taught and practiced compassion as opposed to strict adherence to the law
in all circumstances. The LDS and Catholic churches likewise. Its gratifying to
see the tea party "patriots" have finally come around.Better late than never.Welcome to the high road.
Thank you veterans for your service to our country, and to your service to
fellow patriots who were only trying to bring attention to those who are
destroying our country and abusing taxpayers. You have the respect of most of
I'm going to aply the ABC which means Actions, Believe System and Consequences.
The actions are Illegals crossing into The United States of America. The
believe, that these Illegals should have Rights in this country is wrong. The
consequences is we the taxpayers are paying for these illegals with lower wages
and lost jobs. Courts, jails and prisons are overhelm by illegals every single
day. Illegal documents are used everyday to cover up illegals actions. Yet we
allow laws to be passed and signed into law, which cause people to break the
laws.I'm a Combat Veteran. When are we the people going to wake up before
loss control of The United States of America?
This is all so confusing. Are we against compassion or aren't we?
If somebody breaks my door and shouts "show your compassion and give me
some money", should I be compassionate? How far reaching compassion should
@Naruto | 10:30 a.m. June 17, 2011Actually the opposite is true.
The list held primarily illegal names on it with just a few legal ones.@The Sensible Middle | 11:33 a.m. June 17, 2011We all should be
against government coerced compassion. This Veterans group is a
perfect example of how true compassion works.
Remember the overused slogan "What part of 'illegal' don't you
understand?" that is so often thrown out to demand deportation? That
should be applied in this case - releasing private information obtained
illegally by a state worker abusing authority. I am a veteran and I believe in
law and order. THIS IS A CLEAR VIOLATION OF THE VALUES THAT I UPHOLD. This was
not a list of names of illegals. It included PERSONAL INFORMATION PROTECTED BY
LAW about people that were ALLEGED (SOME WRONGLY) to be in violation of
immigration laws. What if someone illegally obtained and then published your
name, address, and social security number if he thought (with no proof) you had
used illegal fireworks?
Whatever happened to whistle blower laws? It is absolutely incredible that
Carson and Bassett were held responsible for disclosing information that Law
Enforcement has access to at all times but failed to do so. And when did Law
Enforcement begin to ignore law breakers? These guys almost fight each other to
bring in a "bad guy" (unless it is a family member). And then
Shurtleff says he doesn't have enough money to go after them? This implies that
he would take action, but....he doesn't want to? How crazy is that? It sounds
like things are still rotten in Denmark.
Why, is it that no one is outraged by the threatening phone call made to the
veteran who paid the fine? Maybe his rights were violated when his information
was shared with the radical who called and threatened him? I guess theres no
compassion for those who fight for the rights and freedoms of this nation; we
seem to only have compassion for those who demand these rights, even if they
might not belong here.
The Tribune had a report that Shurtleff wanted her to serve her community
service (part) sentence in the Mexican community. He really is
"compassionate". And so funny!
