Thanks for the Boylen "tweet"...I would have missed it.
Memo to Harbaugh:If you want to last in the NFL you might want to
get a QB who actually knows how to win and has the tools to succeed in the
league. Not some washed-up headcase like Smith.

knows how to win and has the tools to succeed in the league. Not some washed-up
headcase like Smith. Smith a headcase?Im a BIG TIME 49er
fan, more then a BYU fan. But to say Smith is a headcase is just wrong. Smith is
a true PRO, and with Harbaugh at the helm the 49ers will be back at the top with
Headcase, meaning, damaged goods. Part of it is not Smith's fault for coming
out of a run-oriented program in college and then asked to throw a bunch of
times for a bunch of different offensive coordinators. His psyche is so damaged
that he's unable to lead a team to the playoffs, let alone a super bowl.Having said that, I think QB's get too much credit or blame. It's a
team game, and a lot depends on how the teammates play. But the leader of the
team (QB) has got to be sharper than Smith has shown to be.
@ CocoNutzzSorry Smith is flat out not that good. I see the 49ers
bringing Smith back to set them up to grab Luck in next years draft, then send
Smith packing. Smith does not get it and he never will, the dude has issues with
ball security and reading defenses, and he is not a leader.
I only wish the 49ers would have drafted Aaron Rodgers that year, but hindsight
is 20/20. For the past 2 years Rodgers has been sacked 2x more than any other
QB- ie, Smith can't complain about protection if Rodgers is in the room.
Imagine how good Rodgers would be with a better O-line.
flynn is the coolest,You're dreaming if you think Rogers would have
done better. Rogers had the perfect situation in Green Bay to learn and grow
backing up a legend. Most NFL analysts will tell you there is a long history of
high draft pick QB's failing in the NFL when they are put into a starting role
right away. Add to that the instability on the coaching staff and Smith was
doomed. I wish he had been placed into a better situation, but I also hope he
will now get a fair shot. If not, I don't believe he is the only one to blame.
@ mormon ute,Somewhere Payton & Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger,
Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Mark Sanchez (all starters from their rookie years or
#1 overall picks who have had success) are all laughing at your post. You can
stop making excuses for the horrible career Alex Smith has had.
