I saw this film today and it was pretty terrible. It is like riding an amusement park ride for the fourth time of the day knowing every curve and hill ahead. It was predictable and obvious and un-funny save for a very few jokes. It will make loads of money but it delivered next to nothing. Readers here may flock because its "okay" content wise but they should demand much, much more from films. (And reviews.)

My husband and I saw the film yesterday and loved it. Our daughter, her husband, and kids ages 9 and 13 saw it last night and loved it. It didn't have the wow factor of the first because no one had done "Pirates" before the first one, but Penelope Cruz added a lot of spice, and Johnny Depp is always a delight. Action sequences were a lot of fun, and the music was spot-on. There was even a subtle morality to "Pirates ... 4." What were Donnie or Debbie Downers expecting -- King Lear? The vampire mermaids were silly, but so what? (I preferred them to the squid-faced Davy Jones!) Long live Jack Sparrow!
