Good for those who have a shot in the NFL. I wish them luck. As an Aggie fan I
was excited to see that Curtis Marsh is projected to be the first player from a
Utah school to be drafted. For some reaon I was thinking that Utah was
projected to have several players drafted. Probably overzealous fans. It is good
to see that Utah is reaping the benefits of being in the PAC 12. I think their
2011 recruiting class rated about the same as 2010. Whittingham must have been
speaking about commits to the 2012 class so we can expect that to be rated
higher than the previous 2 years.
TJ,You sound as jealous that you're not in a real conference as our
other little brother.Playing for Pac 12 and national
championshipsvs.Aggie and Creamery Ice Cream.
Being made aware that many recruits are interested in football beyond college
and tired of being ignored by the NFL on scout-day and draft-day, BYU is
considering forming a new professional football league. Trying to
divert attention from draft day, they have announced their own TV channel will
show continuous replays of "The Miracle Bowl".Declaring
they were responsible for the success of the NFL it is their calling to address
the demands of their 13 million fans. This will insure all recruits of scouts
attending their professional try-out camp and a professional career. (Yes the
scouts will have stop watches and clipboards)It is expected all
sites will be within driving distance of their HDTV van!!! Investment opportunities abound in Utah County.
Who am I sir....Absolutely hillarious. keep up the good work!!
An Aggie fan critizising anyone about their football team? Really? Stick to
things you know, like cows and farming. Football has not been in your
vocabulary for a long time now. You're just embarrassing yourself. I couldn't tell you where the Aggies recruiting class ranked. Recruiting
sites don't even bother keeping tabs on them.
@Bleed and WhoI think it's funny that you complimented yourself on a
comment you made.BYU might not have an extensive NFL draft prospects
list this year, but watch out for next year. I bet there will be 8 to 10 draft
prospects next year after this team goes 10-2, or better, and Bronco has a
chance to instill his winning spirit into these kids' hearts.
"I bet there will be 8 to 10 draft prospects next year after this team goes
10-2"Wow Hondo, 10 draft propects? If this is true byu will
probably lead the nation in players heading to the NFL...most likely better than
AL,FL,USC,TX ect...Having clued you in on this, would you like to
change your statement?Probably not.
Congrats to the guys going to the draft. Hope they do well.@TJSure don't understand this statement... "It is good to see that
Utah is reaping the benefits of being in the PAC 12."Is this a
known fact or just some pleasantry you're throwing out there? Can you name ONE
recruit that is coming to Utah because of the PAC affiliation or were they
coming anyway, MWC or not? Just wondering if anyone is keeping tabs.
Hey Hondo how about cooking up a "reality" I can use, like maybe tell
me who will win the superbowl next year of what the top producing stock will
crisb, wilary, Did I say something wrong or are the two of you paranoid
and insecure? I have every right to mention that USU has the top draft pick
prospect in the state. USU also has several of the top "State of Utah"
players in the NFL at this time. Cooley, TE, Redskins. Penn, LT, Tampa Bay.
Bush, DB, Green Bay and Kevin Curtis. Merlin Olsen is the best player ever out
of Utah.As for my comments on the U prospects. I did read in these
comments many times over the past several months how Utah was going to have a
half dozen or so players drafted because of their superiority. BYU had mostly
sophmores with a few juniors and freshmen thrown in. Reynolds would have been
the first drafted from a Utah college as a Junior.U say I sound
Jealous after all the obsessive and jealous garbage seen from the two of you?If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black nothing ever was.I
did not criticize and I certainly am not jealous. And crisb. Don't count Rose
Bowls before they come. National Championships either little brother. BYU is
still up 1-0
"Can you name ONE recruit that is coming to Utah because of the PAC
affiliation "Harvi Langi, he narrowed his choices down to 3
schools, all PAC 12, although picking Utah wasn't strictly a PAC 12 no PAC12
decision, Utah wouldn't have even been in the running if it was still in the
Yeah lighten up on TJ there was nothing wrong with his original comment. I think
it great to see Utah State players drafted too, there have been some great ones
over the years!!!
@ Ibleedcrimson. Very classy of you. Thank you. I do think Langi would
have chosen Utah anyway. The situation was right and he has family he wants to
be close to. I think he will be very good for Utah.I also think Utah will
benefit with better recruits because of the PAC.
Relax, TJ. If the Utes do have half a dozen players drafted, and Brandon Burton
goes ahead of Curtis Marsh, don't go postal. It will all be OK.
I'm just excited to see how our former players do in the draft and how our new
players do in the fall. It's nice to see someone from the outside acknowledge
the impact of the conference move on recruiting. With Norm Chow on board now,
there should be even more of an impact.
Re Hondo1. I have NEVER complimented or recommended my own
comments. Could it be someone else did compliment me? (Do I expect you to
believe me? Doen't matter in the least)2. "BYU might not have
an extensive NFL draft prospects list this year, but watch out for next year. I
bet there will be 8 to 10 draft prospects next year after this team goes 10-2,
or better, and Bronco has a chance to instill his winning spirit into these
kids' hearts." - Gotta love this one!! A. I guess NO list
could be considered not an extensive list. B. Any thought of last
year? C. Not certain how far back I would have to go to find a list. D. You may be right about the number of prospects "ater this team
goes 10-2 or better." WE WILL NEVER KNOW. E. At last, after what
8 years, Bronco will have a chance to instill his winning spirit (a sweet one at
that) into these kids' hearts. Re: SammygLast year three
times the number of recruits listed the U as school of preference over those
listing the Y. (Rivals) Was this always the case?
Well wedgie just told us a couple of days ago zane taylor was a sure thing to be
drafted. It doesn't sound like any scouts are as sure of that as wedgie is but
of course the flow of insider info into ann arbor basements is lengendary and
Who am I Sir,It's because we're both from Cottonwood heights, any
reasonable person would draw the conclusion were are the same person!TJ, Langi would have gone to USC or Stanford if Utah was in the MWC, his
family only became a consideration after the annoucement was made of Utah
joining the PAC 10 then those intangibles became factors.
Settle down fellas on your "where and why would Langi go to which college
discussion." All we have to do is wait for the Duckhunter to way in with
the answer. After all, he knows or has gone to school with the Langi's, or has
done work at their home or knows one of their relatives or.................
Re: SammygWe do not have to keep track because someone else is.
Here's how to find out for yourself:Go to Rival.com or Scout.com and
look up last year's committments. Then look at each individual's profile.
Next, look up each offer the recruit received. This information will tell you
all school who offered each recruit. Now you must reach your own conclusion.
Which of Utah's committments was influenced by their PAC-12 affiliation. Hope this is helpful and not too alarming!!!As for this
year, go to the websites, select football recruiting, data base, and select each
school. It will indicate the recruits who have indicated an interest. Approx
120 for Utah and 60 for the Y. Now look at the 4 and 5 star recruits and ask
yourself this question. Was the PAC-12 affiliation a factor in the recruit
selection of Utah. Again you must reach your own conclusion. This is
in response to Sammyg but anyone can do this!
"Can you name ONE recruit that is coming to Utah because of the PAC
affiliation or were they coming anyway"Samyg,The
two top 2011 recruites Harvey Langi (4 star) and Keith McGill ( 4 star) both
chose Utah because of the PAC12.Any other questions?
I wouldn't get too excited...Shaky at best... even for Brandon...the surest of
the utah's so called sure...with his anywhere from 2nd to 5th round rating.
I'll still be honing in on the SEC players...where the real money is going to
Re: HondoYou truly are a comedian! This means BYU won't lose another
game this year or next. When they go undefeated next year, they will get to play
in the Armed Forces Bowl against SMU. Tom Holmoe is excited about that game. Were you counting on the Arena league to make up for 8 of those draft
picks? Did you know that Jake Heaps came to BYU to win national
championships? Anything less is.....Independence means you don't get
along with others?
i am sure they will all be like that flop that went to the niners...you know
that qb? how pathetic.
Will Miami (my favorite NFL team) add another Ute to their roster? Schlauderaff
on Day 3 would fill a need by providing depth @ OG. @ williary |
12:50 p.m. April 27, 2011 Last I checked, The Ags have scoreboard on
byu & convincingly so.
@nunyaNot really a question assuming your referring to Smith and not Steve
Young and the 49ers...otherwise...
well, if I remember correctly, Steve Young did not FLOP when he was with the
@nunyaExactly...just checking the ratiionality level of the implication of
the statement. That's why my assumption was aimed at Smith...otherwise a
miscarriage of rationality would obviously exist.
You are right about young, he didn't flop with the 49ers. he flopped with every
team he played for before that. Nothing like the Tampa Bay Bucaneers of the
