What a sensible, rational voice! Thank you.
I was dropping my daughter off at school and listened to the radio on the way
home. They were taking texts and calls about how scared people were here in
Minnesota, because they had just learned they lived near a nuclear reactor. We
are expecting flooding this spring. Why are they just now learning that
they live near a nuclear reactor, and how will the flooding this year be more
frightening than year's past. I think it's irresponsible when journalists
and others use fear to gain listeners and advertisers. Thanks for the great
article.Lesson in all of this: ALWAYS be prepared
Excellent article. I would just disagree with one point. I DO think that some
journalists, or at the very least, some news outlets do hype certain news items
to generate fear and therefore generate more revenue. But I think this article
really was fine and was dead-on.
