I didn't see the game, but from the commentary, it didn't sound like much of an
upset. It sounds like a good, talented Liahona team played focused ball and
great defense and the result was the natural outcome. Now, is WA capable of
turning the tables and doing the same? I believe so. In other words, I get the
sense they are pretty well matched and it depends on focus, execution and
defense! Great job and great season to both of you and good look in the playoff
game and the state tournament. I am still pulling for Monticello to challenge
It was an upset in the sense that WA was ranked #1 with the state's best record,
and Liahona was unranked. However I tend to agree with you- this was not an
'upset'. Dropping the Warriors from #2 all the way out of the
rankings after a narrow loss to a very good Rich team was a bit hasty in my
opinion, and I think they were really motivated in this game to prove naysayers
wrong. It was a great game between two very very evenly matched squads and was
in all likelyhood a championship preview. I'm hearing rumblings that
the coin-toss has been done away with and a do-or-die tiebreaker will be held
between these teams at a neutral site this Saturday. That would be a can't miss
game well worth the price of admission and the $3.15 per gallon of gas to make
the trip!I've said it time and time again, and I'll say it once
more. Nothing beats 1A basketball!
Right, my main point was that the drop of Liahona in the rankings was silly. WA
is still number one until dethroned and it is an upset (on paper). :) I would
love to see this game but hopefully I will be watching Wasatch play in the state
championship that afternoon! Do you know where the neutral site is?
The Tie-Breaker has been set for Saturday night at 7. The game will be played at
Payson High School and the winner will be cutting the nets for region 18.In short, you can watch Brown and Pelo and company take the 3A championship,
and then fly down I-15 for what promises to be one the most intense high school
games in recent memory!
Why did you reject my comment saying that this post was biased? As far as I
know, that is not offensive OR demeaning. I thought the press was supposed to
support freedom of speech.
WA #1!! REGION CHAMPS!!!!
WA IS #1!!
You wanted another game with WA... you got it...toyota!! Total domination from
begining to end. This is a great way to go rolling into the state play-offs.
You wrote an article about Liahona beating WA with a 3 point difference. Now,
where is the article about WA beating Liahona by 35 points? ;)
