gotta learn not to take your foot off the gas pedal too early; Nebraska made a
nice little comeback, but, BYU managed to hang on for another close 20-point win
:)a win at Arizona could be just the ticket for cracking the Top
I thought that coach Sadler copped out when asked how BYU would fare in
Nebraska's conference. He refused to compare the Cougars with other Big 12
teams. It's part of the way the MWC gets treated at the national level in
basketball as well as football. "Keep them marginalized and they will never
challenge us," seems to be the attitude.
Considering the Big 12 has two of the top 5 teams in Kansas and Texas and Kansas
State playing exceptionally well, I'll answer for him, probably not very well.
Another loss for Utah. copy, pasteIt'll be an
easy job for the writers this season.
And your point! This early in the season the polls don't reflect reality. I
imagine BYU would at least split 50-50 with these two, so until they play each
other it is purely arrogant speculation on your part. The BCS shuld be renamed
the BACS for Big Arrogant Conference Campionship.
Congrats Cougars!Sadly an abundance of Christmas Cougar gifts, might cause
overlooking the BBall in favor of the FBall, but this title was a whale of an
accomplishment.Fellow Cougars, let's get out the the gutter fight and
learn to appreciate what the Cougars do, not what the Utes don't do. The win
over Nebraska can stand on its own.
LOL. BYU, UNM, UNLV, SDSU would all finish in the top half of the Big 12 this
year. Sure, Kansas will always be on top along with Texas. That's how those
BCS millions get distributed. It's reality. But the top half of the MWC would
compete favorably for sure. Whether it be Provo, The Pit, T&M or San Diego,
those venues are hard to get wins in. Texas and KU would have to focus hard or
they would lose. The MWC looks great this year. Now if Utah could just get it
ReHow many games in the big 12 have you watched. If you car guess, so can I.
BYU would play every Big 12 team as good or better than most teams right now.
Congratulations to BYU football and basketball teams this week. Outstanding! The
games were well played and entertaining to watch. Go Cougars!
Whine all you want about national respect but until BYU starts winning games in
the NCAA tourney they will never be taken seriously. You have to earn respect.
It does'nt matter what Sadler thinks about how BYU would compare. Basketball is
completely different than football because there is a playoff. BYU has shown us
how they compare the last two years by getting beat by a Big 12 team to end
their season. Can teams be marginalized? Yes, but in basketball you can always
prove them wrong and so it does't happen for long or the ones marginalizing look
too foolish. As BYU fans, we have to be patient for national attention because
our basketball team has'nt done enough late in the season to warrant much. This
basketball team will have a chance to change that if they continue to improve.
I'm looking and hoping for that more than any ranking. Why are we so preoccupied
with what others think of our team?
What to go!!
It's good, but troubling when our leading rebounders are consistently our
guards. Where are the bigs? These guys should be rebounding better than they
are. But, wow, what a team these guys have turned into.
What to go???????
when BYU is leading Utah 37-5.
Come on and give us a BIG BREAK!!!The kittens owned the
refs!!Just another LUCKY win! When the EWES play
you...the end score will be in the YEWTS' favor!GO
So, as Jimmer goes, BYU goes? Seems so.Jimmer will need to be very
careful with his fouls, as other teams will realize he's the key, so will try to
get him off the floor.Boy, was this 4-game tourney stretch a nice
one for BYU. Big early runs against two good teams. And mostly because of
Jimmer's play.It helps that Emery and Haws compliment Fredette. One
of them seems to be hot when the other isn't. Nice backcourt, BYU!Too bad New Mexico lost to a nobody. That'll nearly drop them out of the
rankings. A win might've gotten them into the top 10.Let's hope the
top three in the MWC maintain their dominance so that the conference can get
some higher-seeded teams this year and have a chance to advance for once.
Thanks for an entertaining hoops and FB run. OSU and the PAC 10 finally got
What a dork! Owned what refs? Are you talking basketball like the rest of us
here? Or just sulking over the butt whooping that OSU rec'd at the hands of BYU
the bowl? Typical Ute fan, will never acknowledge where credit is due...All I
can say is go UTE B-ball, looking pretty great right now! Yippie!!! Can't even
beat Jr. College teams right now...I think my son's Jr High school team would
put them UTEWTIES in their place...
Nah. What game was it when Jimmer and JT were both as cold as ice? Our bench
came up and played big, and we won.
I'm glad Emery didn't have the foul trouble. It is good to see him playing
instead of on the bench. Fredette seems to be trying too hard maybe? His
shooting from the perimeter is off. There were other games that he struggled and
BYU still won handily.New Mexico might have been ranked too high.
1. Fredette and Emery are becoming one of the better backcourts in the
country.2. Hawes - missionaries are much more effective when they go
later. Like after they graduate!!3. Davies will be a 15-10 guy next
season and give us our first real post presence in a while.4. I am
particularly impressed that so many Cougs are shooting a GREAT percentage in
such an up tempo offense. Even those that are not getting much playing time.5. It is a little sad to see how JT has almost shot himself out of a
meaningful role on this year's team. With the great play of Haws and JT hovering
around 35% that will only continue. In hindsight, he probably should have signed
with a Brazilian pro team after his summer stint on the national team.
Another frosted cupcake with sprinkles on BYU's schedule.
the football article about the Utes I decided I needed to come to the basketball
section to find some hate spewing Cougar fans:)nice win, either way.
I wish we could have had a REAL test in basketball and played against Pepperdine
in this tournament instead of lowly Nebraska and Nevada.(*sigh*)
I know I'm in pain but it will subside after we beat our next opponent.Cause I'm sure we'll beat them.At least I'm pretty sure.OK maybe I
hope we win.Well, maybe there's at least a glimmer of hope that we come
out on top.Hmmm, perhaps I'll see if there is any other school with the
color red on their jerseys and cheer for them.Okay forget the color red
all together. Just maybe there's a school in Utah that I can cheer for that
wins. How about Lone Peak HS? Those guys are winners. But their top
players go to that other school and I throw beer on their players after football
games.Could I...would I...maybe...perhaps...yeah...OK, I'm in so
much pain, I'll cheer for their track team.Well that doesn't cut it. Okay
their BBall team. That won't be too bad. Besides, they win a lot of games - just
won that tourney in Vegas and are 11-1.Go Cougars!Wait..What did I
say? Oh, forget it! Go Cougars!
Lee, At least Nebraska has beaten a few good teams (USC and Tulsa) and has
more-than-solid record. Who has your team beaten so far this season? (It's
always easier to cast aspersions--I'll translate for you: that means critical
remarks--than to present facts.) Please feel free to dis the Cougs once Utah has
a decent B ball team.
I invite all Ute fans to jump on the band wagon and cheer and root for a good
basketball team the Cougars. Ute fans need something to lift their spirits
after getting waxed by Hall in overtime and then watching their utes struggle to
beat a really bad Cal team without its best player. So, I extend the invitation
to give up the hope that Boylen will ever deliver the goods and if you can't
root for the Cougar football team, give the Cougar basketball team your support.
You'll be a better person for it. GO Cougs!!!
Utes have already proved that a so-so MWC team can beat or at least play with
Big 10 and Big 12 schools.BYU did not just beat Nebraska, it was a
big-time blowout. Time will tell if this is the BYU team that will do well in
the NCAA playoffs.
Utah fans just can't give BYU credit. If they win, it was because they "owned"
the refs, or the opponent was "weak." If you shoot a high percentage from the
floor and line, like BYU did against Nevada, you can beat just about anybody.
However we really won't know what kind of team the Cougars are until they go
against tough teams on the road and win or win a few NCAA post first round
It is a great time to be a Cougar. Things have rarely looked better in
basketball and football. I hope for a win in the tourney but I am enjoying
myself now. The conference will be tough this year, should be some great games.
I guess there are a few teams that are down this year so every game won't be
If your so insucure to have to ask how you would fare in another conference; the
answer IS not very well. Hey, do you think we would do very well in your conf?!!
Come on, lets quit telling on ourselves!
Cougar cupcakes? What about the Utes. They have played a slew of cupcakes.
Only difference is that the Cougars Beat the cupcakes on their schedule!!!!!!!
Yewt trolls go post on your own stories or are they too depressing to read? And
thank the Cougars for beating you in FB so that you could keep your bowl string
alive against a deadbeat Cal.
