Doctor doesn't think he's competent to stand trial at this time
I will never pretend to understand the justice system we employ. But really, how
hard could this be? It should go something like this....Miss. Smart, did this
man take you from your room without your consent? Yes...Did this man keep you
from your family, and as a captive? YES! Did this man sexually assault you,
and abuse you? YES! Did this man threaten your life? YES! Were you in your
early teens when this happened? YES!. There you go, seems pretty simple to
me. He is guilty of kidnapping, keeping a hostage, rape, sexual abuse of a
minor, making terroristic threats etc. Not a difficult thing to figure out.
Apparently this Doctor does not understand arrogant people. They feel they are
above the law and are not subject to it, therefore they are impervious to being
Throw the creep in point of the mountain and throw the keys away.
Whitehead clearly does not understand the mentality of people who choose to
believe that God tells them to commit crimes. Mitchell took Smart out in public
many times because he willfully deluded himself into believing that God would
protect him. Because of that, he felt he was above the law. Making Smart wear a
disguise & calling her his daughter in public clearly shows that he knew what he
was doing the whole time & he knew it was wrong, he simply didn't care. The
terrorists who attacked the US on September 11, 2001 also believed God told them
to commit crimes. But I bet that if they'd been apprehended beforehand they'd
all be in prison right now, not a mental hospital.
Dr. WHitehead works at a federal facility evaluating prisoners. He is out of his
league in a world beyond bars. Let's hope the authorities understand he is the
real "naive" person in this case.
experts are so easily duped
Who has more crediblity, a doctor who observed Mitchell daily for 2 years, or
someone who hasn't observed him and is being paid $500,000 for their "expert
opinion"? Mitchell is obviously guilty of heinous crimes, but that is not the
issue. The issue is weather or not he is competent to stand trial.
Mitchell is not capable of assisting in his defense because he dosent understand
the justice system. Please tell me who really does. This system is
built by and around lawyers and their language.I am not mentally ill
and hold three degrees. That does not mean I understand the legal system. I
would refer to my attorney on these matters or be arrogant enough to yell my own
feeligs for all to hear.Lets discuss the feeling that God will
deliver him out in two years. Isnt that what ervil LaBarron thought, what about
Charles Manson? Beleaving that God will deliver me up makes a person mentally
ill would then lead us to conclude that Moses, Noah, John the Baptist and all
who belive in Joseph Smith are all mentally ill. Just think,an entire world of
mentally ill people just because they dont understand the system or believe in a
God.Lets get on with this. Have a trial and put him away. Otherwise
he will be in the State Hospital for the rest of his life waiting to suddenly
become a man for all seasons.
If he is not competent to stand trial for any reason, then he is also not
competent to be released. There is no reason to believe that he would not commit
the same or other crimes again. Keep him locked up in a mental health ward
