Yes! Finally a game won, with improved defense. This will be good for Gary Anderson and the gang. Aggies still have a ways to go before they get a winning team, but this will help the team get some good vibes.

DDW - Your attitude STINKS! We need to get better results 3rd & 4th qtrs. Cannot start good and have a downward trend. Similar to last week. We got the win which is a plus however we need to figure how to sustain the lead throughout all 4 qtrs.

Enjoyed the game in Cache Valley. Aggies totally dominated the first half. Need to have more horses in the stable for the second half. Gary has the program headed in the right direction.

    Go Big Blue!!!

The Ags could use those horses in the stable, especially on the defensive side. I hope that they'll be coming soon.

It was a nice win in Logan. And how about Wagner's pick?!

did it really happen? Pathetic crowd. USU deserves what it gets. If the fans actually believe, they should show up. Nobody really cares.

More wins and more fans will come. It is no different than the empty stands in Provo for the 4th quarter today. You have to have some success to draw in the masses.

The Aggies are working hard to build a competitive football program. Recruiting over the next couple of years will make or break what Gary is building.

I am very excited for the future of USU football.

    Go Big Blue!!!

Finally the Aggies are able to win a close one. There was absolutely NO REASON that the game should have ever been that close, but I will take the win. I know Nevada and New Mexico State did not feel bad at all about taking 3 point wins from the Aggies. You gotta feel good about any win no matter how it comes. Great to see this hard working team get some positive vibes flowing in Logan. Go State!!!

If the Aggies don't end up over .500 in conference this year, they will for sure next year. It's on the upswing, no question. Finally.

His attitude may stink, but that's probably just because he's a U or Y fan. Or a troll. Or both.

Good job Utah State! Pick up another 2 wins and we can call the season a "success" and build the program. We don't need miracle turn around seasons, we need slow and steady progress to build the program.

And here's my theory on why we slow down in the second half: Gary has the guys playing really really hard, but in the size and strength departments we are still way behind in the trenches. So down the stretch our boys are just plain beat.

Give them a year of hard lifting with real hope of success on the field, and next year they'll be much stronger.

    GO AGGIES!

Compared to previous years, 14,229 fans for the game with La Tech isn't bad. Of course, not quite the magic number of 15,000 but better than 9000 or less.

    Congratulations, Aggies.

And while I am at it, congratulations to Weber State and Southern Utah (great blow out of North Dakota) and Snow. The first five Utah teams to play today all won. The last two, however, were blown out.

I was in slc and was able to actually watch the game on tv unlike those teams to the south. The team is definitly on the up swing. And wagners pick over the middle was awesome! Go aggies!

KJZZ and the CW. Imagine, broadcast coverage of a local team, with no need to gripe about the mtn ... and a homie vs. Boise on ESPN coming up next month.

Yeehaw! Great goings on in Logan.

Good Win Ags! You need to keep steam rolling for the entire game though, can't let down in the 4th quarter! You tried to give it away!

GA, great local recruiting class coming next year:
    Walker OL from Pleasant Grove
    Hart QB from Jordan
    Fanaika TE from Pleasant Grove
    Anderson Rec from Juan Diego
those are the ones I know, I am sure there are more...

keep in mind it was rainy and chilly and the Aggies had just lost two games they shouldn't have. I believe against both SUU and Nevada we had around 18,000 in attendance so we're well over the magic 15,000 average.

Great win! Picked it up on ESPN360 while driving to Minnesota from Dallas. Wagners pick was insane! Can anyone believ how much Diondre has improved? I am so impressed! Turbin, Speight and crew are doing great as well. Love the team!

A great victory, but scary down the stretch. Congrats to Coach A and the team.

I agree with the comments earlier: 1) More wins and a competitive team will increase fan attendance. In the meantime, fans need to increase their support for the team; these guys are working hard, and the the program has a new attitude and class deserving of support. 2) LTU was definitely the larger team yesterday in terms of size. They had some pretty good skill players, too. Even so, the Ags held their own until the 4th quarter when size, strength and stamina was not on their side. They played with heart when they had to--and with backup players! Continued work by existing players and improved recruiting by GA and his staff (as has already been demonstrated) will show positive effects in seasons to come.

This was a tought opponent and the Ags have every right to be proud of the victory. Improvement, the will to win, and a never-quit attitude are manifesting themselves in the program and on the field. Much more remains to be done, but ya gotta start somewhere and this was a significant victory. Go Ags.

Those who criticize (kick) a program when its down have zero class. The Aggies are getting better and the scoreboard shows that as games are closer. Gary and the team are heading the right direction despite what classless naysayers spout off.

right now we will take any win we can get...no matter how ugly the fourth quarter was.

    Just a thought on attendance:

Utah Valley has how many people? (nearing 500k)
Cache Valley has just over 100k

    ABOUT 4-5 TIMES THE POPULATION

IF AGGIES GET 15K IN ONE GAME IT IS LIKE FILLING LAVELL EDWARDS STADIUM.

    TAKE THAT AGGIE BASHERS!

  • Made trip to Cache Valley.
    Oct. 25, 2009 10:26 a.m.

Loved it. The Aggies were in complete control for the first half. Gary is doing a great job of getting everything out of his players.

The problem is that the Aggie players are smaller and their bench is not as deep as other teams. So by the time of the 4th quarter comes around our guys have been worn down. I see this getting better as players continue to work hard, get stronger and recruiting continues to improve.

There is only one remaining game that should overwelm the Aggies. BSU will be by far the best team the Aggies play against in 2009. The Aggies will have a good shot in all of the rest of their games this season.

    Go Big Blue!!!

Feels soooooo good!!!!!!! Long time in coming but there's no stoping them now! Have to know how it feels to be winners and they are well on their way. Good job Coach A and to all players - had the heart to get it done. You're all winners - just gotta believe!!

Great Job Aggies way to get that win. Any one questioning if this team is playing pretty dang good football reference Nevada scoring 70 on Idaho this weekend. Keep it up guys and coaches, love what's going on in Logan.

Great job Aggies. I'm impressed with how the coaches and team continue to correct problems from game to game. There is no doubt this team is getting better each week. These coaches are doing a great job of putting a bunch of players where they can be most successful and devising game plans that they can be successful with. We just need to keep up the intensity for 4 quarters now. Perhaps this will happen next week at Fresno. We definately have a shot at the next 3 games. I'd love to see the Aggies sitting at 5-5 when Boise comes to town. I'm encouraged about the future of USU football. Go Aggies!!!!

    Oct. 25, 2009 10:01 p.m.

is like filling Lavell Edwards Stadium. That is the lamest excuse (losers limp) that I have ever heard. There must be at least 120,000 Aggie alumni within 100 miles. If you add their families, there are proabably another 200,000 with USU ties. When my father played for USU in 1962, they averaged over 15,000 and the field only held 15,000. Aggie games were an event. Aggie games are typically a punishment. I am certain that many Aggie alumni are filling Rice Eccles and Lavell Edwards because the games are an event and the home team always has a chance to win. I will attend the next USU game even if it's cold and wet. How about the rest of you?

I loved watching this game up to the 4th qauter where I thought for sure the Aggies would lose. They still have a HUGE problem finishing games. Whether it be endurance or a mental toughness issue USU needs to get over it.

I'm optimistic the Aggies can pick up 2-3 more wins which would be an improvement over last year. But they just simply need to be better in the 4th qaurter.

As far as the attendance issue. Aggie fans are no different than the rest of the nation. When a program is down, there is lest interest. When BYU was losing about every game in BB the marriott center was a graveyard. If they turn it around the fans and students will fill Romney stadium.

If you are going to talk numbers like that then how many BYU and U alums do you have within 100 miles? How many BYU and U alums do you have coming out to Romney Stadium? There are plenty of them in Logan! It sure was an event down in Provo this weekend....for TCU! Looked like punishment to me since all of your so called fans were gone by the middle of the 3rd quarter. Thats what a "great" fan base is all about! BYU did not have a chance on Saturday so there must have been nothing else in Provo that all the people looking for an "event" could go to. USU has just as much of a chance to win their home games this season as BYU does. Yeah we have Boise, but you had TCU (which everyone around the country knew was a loss besides you fools). USU is 2-1 at home.....BYU is 2-2. Who has more losses?

this win will be huge for any mental issues about playing a full game. They showed they are capable of gutting out a game. Obviously improvement is needed, but it's coming. Defense was great saturday compared to previous showings. They showed a lot of heart stopping LaTech's drive late in the 4th with a great stop on 3rd down and great coverage on the 4th down conversion attempt. Saved our butts.

Aggies win 4 of the next 5 games. Fresno state thinks they are going to come up and run over the aggies, then they will say it was like taking candy from a baby. Their coach probably has a "W" marked on his pocket calendar for the game. Let's show them differently. Let the games begin !!!
