Shopped at Macey's last night. It's a wonderful place, and hopefully an enduring
Walt was an amazing man! I was lucky to have known him.
Wow, there goes a good soul. How do I know this when I never knew the man nor
even of the man till today? Because of his store. There truly is a
family-feeling at Macey's, just as they claim, and I love to shop there even
though I have drive 20 minutes and pass five or six Smiths and Albertons and a
Target and a Costco on my way. I would rather shop there than anywhere else. The concern always is, whenever a founder of some great business dies,
that the store will upgrade and try to become more like other stores. I hope
Macey's current leadership will hold to the principles that brings shoppers like
me way out of their way to have the Macey's experience. Don't change a thing!
Of all the Associated Foods Stores, Macey's is unique, and it is the best!Oh, and by the way, we support your Sunday closing policy. Thank you
for doing that.
I was honored to have such a man in my life!
To Walt's family: I only wish that there were more people like Walt and more
stores like Maceys. Shopping at the old Rose Park store was a privilege and the
attention we would get get from Walt and the rest of his workers was amazing.
It is my privilege to have been able to know him.
I greatly respect the fact that Macey kept his stores closed on Sundays. That
takes guts and real integrity. I'm sorry there isn't a Macy's in
Salt Lake City Proper.
Bishop Macey was a wonderful bishop and a truly good man. We were blessed to
live under his stewardship, and to know the family. Our sincere condolences.

Walt was a great man, and I feel very lucky to have known him. My love goes out
to his family.
"CLOSED ON SUNDAY" - Courage and DedicationOur family has long loved
Walt Macey. Joseph Fielding Smith was a close friend of Walts and told us all
to do all we should to spend our money with a man that had the courage to buck
the trend, and keep his business "CLOSED ON SUNDAY". Walt was true to his word
and did just that. The day that the current owners open on Sunday, is the day
that the Macey name should come off the building! As for our family we will
contine to support the store that keeps God's comandment. Rest in Peace Brother
It is great to see a store closed on Sunday and fly an American
My grandfather Dale A. Jones, was Macey's partner at Save a Nickel. My grandpa
died in 1973 of hemochromatosis. He and my grandma had a great deal of respect
I love Macys because it feels like a hometown store, upholds community values
(e.g. closed on Sunday), and provides great value. Customers realize they are
not only supporting a good man, and the workers he hires by patronizing his
store, but they are upholding community, hometown values. Thanks Walt!
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Macey at the VA nursing home. My heart goes
out to Ann, who is such a wonderful lady as well as Mr. Maceys family. He had
such a support team, not only by his family but the care that Traditions had
provided for him. He will be sadly missed.
Ever since i was a little girl i remember my grandpa telling me that when the
lord calls him home he wont be asked how many stores he opened or how much money
he made. He will ask him how he treated his wife, how he was to his children and
how he served the people around him. I can say that he absolutely had his
priorities straight and even though he knew what was truely important, the way
he lived his life did indeed radiate through how he ran his stores and i think
people appreciated his way of doing things. He was a man with convictions and a
man with a heart of gold! Pop, you served well. You loved well and you will be
missed! I love you pop pop!! I miss you already and feel so blessed that you
were and still are such a influential part of my life. Love you forever!!! Piggy
My Great-Uncle Walt was simply that - a great man. I will cherish
the times I spent with him and his beloved Mary. He was living proof of what you
can achieve with hard work and determination. His booming laugh and smile lit up
a room and his personality was warm and infectious. I will fondly remember the
glint in his eye when he would tease and his pride in his family. He was
generous to a fault and was a blessing in so many people's lives. He
was also an example of truly living your convictions every day - extending that
committment to his business. He was loved by family and friends alike and we are
better for having known him.Uncle Walt you will be missed- All
We love you Aunt Ann! Our Prayers and Thoughts are with you at this time! Love, The Brockbanks
Walt was one of the greatest people I've had the privilage of knowing. He was
my Grandfather-in-law and unfortunatly I only knew him the last 3 years of his
life. But, during that short time he gave me some of the most valuable advice
anyone could get. He lived the gospel of Jesus Christ and it showed in his
countenance and how he always served and loved others. I will sorely miss his
councel and company but I know we will be together again.Thank you
I shop almost exclusively at Macey's because I love the store and because they
close on Sunday. I also love their committment to providing plenty of
opportunity for purchasing all the necessaries for food storage. I love the
feeling I get when I go into the store, because it is different from anywhere
else. I hope and pray that continue to be the wonderful place I have grown to
love. Thank you so much for doing the right thing.
