Hey Utes! We are going to beat you like a rented mule this saturday!
I'd be more worried about getting "beat" if Blount (AKA Hulk Smash!!!) still on
Come what may on Saturday "Oregonian" afterwards will still be UTES and you'll
be the hapless Ducks! Overrated Under Achievers!
Im excited to attend the game in Oregon on Saturday and I think we have a good
chance at winning it.
That is also what the Alabama fans told us.
Go Utes! Stick it to the Ducks!
over the utes feeble showing against one of the worst teams in the country.
What a pathetic performance against a team that was drubbed into oblivion by the
trojans. Still LOL
I like how the BYU fans come out and pretend to be Oregon fans.BYU
fans should be pulling for Utah in this OUT OF CONFERENCE game, just like we all
did for you. But no, they are not smart enough to see that a Utah loss will hurt
their ranking as well. I guess thats what you get when your fan base is not made
up of Football fans but rather people who think if their Football team wins then
their religion must be true.
They need all the help they can get.
So who's kicking game is worse? Utah's or BYU's?
For the last two weeks I didn't see any ute fans pulling for BYU...except for
them to lose. Take your bruised ego and pathetic stereotypes and get off the
Cain has a terrible throwing motion. He starts his throws with the ball on his
hip. Did you notice how many times San Jose State hit his arm during the throw?
It takes him much longer to get rid of the ball than a qb who holds the ball
above his shoulder. The extra second it takes to get rid of the ball
will be a real concern against a team like Oregon.I understand now
why Kyle had a difficult selecting a starting qb. I'm guessing the motion is
unfixable and will doom the Utes during the "Cain Era."
I find it interesting that you say cougar fans are made up of "people who think
if their football team wins then their religion must be true..." Because I have
found that most Ute fans desperately hope that BYU loses so that puts a black
eye on the LDS religion. Looks like both groups mix too much football and
Relax, ute fans. I AM a BYU fan and I DO want to see the utes stick it to OU
this weekend. You struggled against SJSU, but your offense moved the ball and
your defense was pretty good (especially against the run), so work on the
discipline issues (penalties, turnovers) and you'll be OK. OU's QB looked
terrible against BSU, so if they have to rely on the running game (without
Blount), they are in trouble....
This isn't the religion section of the paper, so stop the church banter. If I'm a Utah fan, I'm not too worried right now. Utah typically starts
the season a little bit slow. Plus, who wouldn't be looking past San Jose State
just a little bit when you've got a tough but winnable game this next week. Utah
always gets up for good competition. They will win in Eugene, and make a good
run at the MWC championship as well. We'll see you in November!
Utes still have plenty of issues. You'd think they'd lose next week, but they
proved last year that they can play ugly (so far, so good) and still win (yet to
be seen). It's too bad they don't do the conference any good by
scheduling such poor opponents. They really do have to step up.
To re:rich (@8:36am)I don't know where you've been, but I've seen a lot of
praise and best wishes for BYU from genuine Utah fans over the last few weeks.
That's exactly as it should be. Utah's win over Alabama was the perfect
preamble to the Cougars' victory in Jerry's Palace, and the utes deserved their
props. Right now we need EVERY MWC team to beat EVERY PAC-10 team they play (or
any other B(c)S conference team, for that matter). I, for one, would love to see
Utah and BYU both undefeated come Nov. 28th. So much more the satisfaction (and
credibility) when Max & Co. crush them soundly.I have to echo Hawk's post.
We want to see the utes take it to the ducks come Saturday.
Re: Re Rich @ 8:46 a.m.:Just to set the record straight... its not
'most' fans that are ignorant or have misplaced hate on either side. Its a
minority of fans that don't understand the rivalry. Likewise... I am LDS and the
reason I despise that small minority of Y fans is because they cannot understand
for the life of them how someone can be LDS and NOT cheer for they 'church's
team'. In their eyes it is morally wrong. All that said... I like to
see posts like the one from 'Hawk' and 'Texas Cougar'. In my eyes most y and U
fans are grounded and know football well enough to have intelligent
conversations and make intelligent posts. The jury's still out on the Utes and
really should still be out on every team until at least a few weeks from now if
not until the end of the season.Good luck to all in the MWC.And go Utes...
The Utes played sloppy but survived & triumphed in a classic trap game. bottom line; good teams win they games they are supposed to.p.s. the SEC rules. I'd bet that the BCS title game is ? vs. an SEC Team.
Re: 'pick 'em'...Most out of conference games are set up at least a
couple of years in advance if not... 4 or 5 years in advance. We know that when
you schedule the Tulanes, SJSUs, USUs you're setting up for a win. But when you
schedule the Michigan, OKs, Oregons, Louisvilles you may catch them on an up,
down, or average year. So enough with our schedule is stronger than yours banter
because the y schedules their share of 'poor opponents' as well.
The early line has the Oregon Ducks favored over the Utes by 6.5 points. At least who are willing to put their money on the line think that
Utah's team has their work cut out for them.
"We've just got to keep working. That's all I can say," Whittingham said. "We're
miles away from having all the answers and having our football team right where
we want it. We've got a lot of work to do."My, how things have
changed. During fall camp it sounded like BYU was the one really hurting and had
many issues to fix. And it also sounded like utah was in great shape and their
only concern was which of their new superstar QB's was going to start this
season.I'm loving this.Oregon will get their 2nd win
this weekend. But if utah should happen to win that's ok too. It will look
better when we beat them in November.GO COUGARS!!!!!!!
How does Oregon get any votes or credibility at all? No first downs against
Boise until midway through the 3rd quarter, really????? Oregon's QB telegraphs
his every move. A squeaker against unranked Purdue? Despite the effort needed
by Utah against SJSU, if they're prepared they really should mop up against an
extremely overrated Oregon team.Go Utes - from a Cougar fan.
This isn't the 1st time the Utes have come out flat against a far weaker
oppenent. The Utes tend to play up when it comes to the big games. They'll be
ready and will have a very good chance at beating Oregon.
but it was still a win. It's been a few years since I have seen Utah play so
poorly - we couldn't get to their QB at all and for the second week in row we
get stopped on the goal line by a weaker opponent... of course running the
Asiata package 4 straight plays doesn't help. All that being said,
the team still hung in there and gutted out a win. I'm not sure what the cause
of our problems were but I'm hopeful that Kyle has and will address them this
week. We have a good shot of beating Oregon if we can play a clean
game. They have looked vulnerable so far this year.As far as Cain
goes, he may have an odd technique but he has a strong arm, he's accurate and he
showed some good speed - not sure what more you can ask for from him two games
into the season. As far as the batted down passes, the line needs to give him
more help along with some better decision making that I think will come in
I turn your attention to 2008, BYU was cruising along, putting 40+ points a
night on their opponent, jumping in the rankings (Struggled to beat a horrible
Washington team and with the help of the officials overcame a sloppy
performance, so lay off the Utes) and yet we heard how great and mighty they
were. Utah plugged along, playing sloppy and down to the level of their
opponents, showing flashes of briliance at times, however, many were still
concernend. How did it all turn out. BYU crumbled under pressure, Utah won a
couple of Miraculous games and the rest is history 13-0. Only time will tell,
football is a fickle game, one wrong bounce, or a big injury and it could be
lights out. So you cheer for your team, I will cheer for mine and in the end we
will see who wins out. GO UTES!!!!
The final outcome was not as "impressive" as it should/could have been. But for
people who watched the game, they know it isn't a doomsday scenario as many are
laying out.Utah moved the ball. 500 yards of offense again. Were
it not for 2 fumbles early, the game would have been 21-0, and had they punched
the ball into the endzone on 4th down, 28-0 going into half. Not to mention the
pathetic field goal misses. There were many mistakes that need to be
corrected. The O-Line didn't play well after Caleb left. WR's dropped some
very catchable balls. Penalities. FG's. Stanford. Getting all the way to the
QB. And having said all that, Utah outgained SJSU by 250 total yards. Held
them to 22 yards rushing. Got Cain involved in the running game. Was 3-12
defending 3rd down. Not all was terrible.I look forward to a tough
week of practice by Whit, fixing the mental mistakes. Utah will come out and
play well Saturday. Unlike BYU, that's what we do. Utah consistenly beats good
teams, not once every 10 years.
I don't usually pay attention to Aggie sports until basketball season, but in
this case, a word to the wise for all the U & Y fan's out there...You should be "praying" that each other goes undefeated until the "war" come
November. This will provide both schools with the best chance to "bust" the
BCS. You're both good schools - get over it! Enjoy the "spotlight" for now and
give each other just a bit of credit. Don't waste your time beating each other
up - focus on your opponents! The rest of us in the State are getting
tired of the "wambulance" attitude from some of you on both sides... I hope you
both smash everyone you play and that the "war" in November features two top-10
teams... Lofty goal, but doable if TCU doesn't rain on the parade...
"Struggled to beat a horrible Washington team and with the help of the officials
overcame a sloppy performance..."You don't know much about football,
do u? If the Pac10 officials had made the calls they were supposed to, BYU would
have won that game by 3 TD's. But they didn't thanks to all the holding
Washington got away with. Even in the photo of BYU blocking their PAT a WA
player is holding onto a BYU jersey. Pathetic! And here are a couple
of things that kinda sorta point to the fact that this season is going to be
VERY different than last season for BYU: a win over #3 Oklahoma on the road and
Tulane road kill. BYU should have been able to do last season to N. Iowa what
they did to Tulane this season. Here's a bad sign for utah. U guys
beat USU 35-14 this season and last season BYU beat USU 34-14. Last season utah
beat USU 58-10. I guess I should say it's another bad sign for utah in light of
the SJSU game.
UTah needs work. They clearly played terrible, and still won by 10 oints and
outgained the opponent by over 200 yards. Mental breakdowns kept the game
closer than it should have. these are fixable. Utah needs to play with much
more emotion. They had none until the fourth quarter. The d line played
terrible on passing downs. I am hoping it was more of a Misi's back, we can
relax kind of attitude. If not, Utah will have to switch out of man coverage
with the corners. Even bad passign offenses are too good to defend if you
cannot pressure the passer.
My crystal ball says Utes win, only not dominating like Boise State did.
History does tend to repeat itself, but never in the same way. The roles are
reversed. This year's Utes are looking like last year's Cougars. Last year, BYU
had a real sloppy win against USU early in the season much like the Ute's sloppy
win against SJS this weekend. If the Utes don't make the necessary adjustments,
they're definitely going to repeat history: living off of the previous year's
hype only to crash and burn against real opponents. Oregon should be a good
test to get the Utes to step up their game. Hopefully they do!
"bottom line; good teams win they games they are supposed to."Bottom
Line. Good teams win the games they aren't supposed to!2008 - Utes vs.
Alabama.2009 - BYU vs. Oklahoma. Here's to hopin' you are a
good team THIS YEAR so the beat down in Provo will be SO much sweeter!Go
Your Utah and BYU vs. Utah State scenario holds no water. Utah State is a much
better team this year than last for one. Also BYU has yet to play the Aggies so
you might want to hold off on that comparison until after the game. And as far
as the refs in the Washington game argument; the same can and should be said of
the Utah-TCU game. If not for the refs letting TCU get away with so much pass
interference, illegal picks etc. Utah would have walked all over them. And
who's to say San Jose didn't have just a bad game against USC and played more to
their ability against Utah? Frankly it's just too early in the season to be
talking much trash.
Utah always starts this way and they are always their own worst enemy with their
self inflicted mistakes. The good news is, is that they will only get better,
pretty scary if you ask me.
//Here's to hopin' you are a good team THIS YEAR so the beat down in Provo will
be SO much sweeter!Go Cougs!!//What is it w/ you zoobs and
your pronoun issues? Why does fans of TDS consistently & annoyingly refer to any
effort as; We did.... we did not....I'm a fan & don't play.
Therefore, The U (myself not included) will do whatever they do. I don't live my
life vicariously through a sports team.I can only support them and hope to
be entertained. p.s. Good teams win the games they are supposed to
otherwise they would not be good teams.p.s.s. Alabama only had 1
problem in the 09 Sugar Bowl. Their coach is an inflexible, ego-centric,
Ute fans are accused of being haters so much, but apparently that role has now
changed and the BYU fans are the haters. I guess being the more successful
program changes everything.Ok, here is the real deal. There are 2
(yes, TWO) problems Utah needs to address:1. Turnovers. In terms of
yards per game, Utah is the #13 ranked offense in the nation after 2 games (FYI,
that is HIGHER than the TDS). Who cares how Cain holds the ball or his throwing
motion. He is moving the offense, but the turnovers are KILLING the drives. 2
against SJSU and 3 against USU. No turnovers = turning all those yards into
points.2. DB's. The pass interference calls were KILLING Utah.
SJSU couldn't move the ball any other way than to throw it long. Utah's defense
will figure that one out...I have that faith in Whitt and his defensive mind. So, Utah isn't as bad off as TDS fans want to make it out to be. In the
end, they are still just scared that they will be exposed again this year.
an Ugly win is still a win. Next week is a new game. I've had season tickets for
a long time and, unlike about 10 years ago, we found a way to win even though
they played horribly. They need to go back to on game at a time instead of
looking forward. Look at the number of teams that were upset in the first two
weeks of the season and be glad we didn't get upset with them. The Utes won a
lot of games last year they probably would have lost in the past. But, 13-0 is
still 13-0. 2-0 after 2 games is still good enough for me no matter how ugly and
this one was the ugliest win I've seen.
It's NEVER too early to be talking trash. You Yewts have been doing it since
your bowl win over Alabama, and increasingly so ever since Oklahoma got put on
BYU's schedule. We could talk "but if..." scenario's all day long. IF TCU had
had a decent kicker and made eiter of those field goals last year, Utah wouldn't
have gotten all the credit it did, but guess what, it doesn't matter does it?
It's not what ACTUALLY happened. What-ifs are a waste of space. It's a
rivalry! As the facts show for THIS season, Utah is looking at nice 7-5 season
(if they're lucky) as a mediocre rebuilding team. But not to worry
Yewts. You'll have another great team at your next 4-year cycle in 2012. ;-)
12:42 post:As the facts show for this season? The facts show utah
is 2-0. They show that they turn the ball over, give up a few big plays, out
gain their opponent and hold their opponent to far fewer yards than they gain.
The facts also tell you how teams perform on paper. But, that doesn't tell how
they will perform on the field. The only fact that matters is Utah is 2-0.
That is all the facts show. Not a single "fact" shows how Utah will finish.
Keep talking trash. We're still the ones with 16 game win streak while yours is
still 2. Nice win down in Texas but you still have a lot of games to play. IF
you can beat Fl St, and IF you can beat TCU, and IF you can beat the Utes, and
IF you can run the table, I'll be cheering for you to play in the title game. by
the way, You're right. It doesn't matter what if. It's still 16 straight. Are
you a racist in general or just don't think you should respect the name of the
Ute Tribe? It's not teams that use the names of tribes respectfully that is
racist, it's people like you that deliberately disrespect them.
BYU football is a big passion in my life. I have enjoyed BYU football for many
years. I have enjoyed the Utes success more then most U fans and will always
have nothing but the best of feelings for Utah football, they are well coached
i'm not worried at all they will fix those little things up and just start
kicking butt like they have always have and will continue to do so. I sure wish
the trash talking would stop and Y fans every where would just save the talk
until the last game of the year when it really matters. Keep up the hardwork
Utah & take it to those ducks. Thanks for the good memories at the end of each
year it's been fun.
"What is it w/ you zoobs and your pronoun issues? Why does fans of TDS
consistently & annoyingly refer to any effort as; We did.... we did not...."Can I just say...WOW! To bring up a grammatical term to make yourself
look smart, but then turn around and use it so poorly is downright embarrassing.
Also, do you really think the fans are not at all involved. Let me
ask you this, after WWII did Americans say "we" won the war, or "the armed
forces"? Of course all citizens are involved in some way. That way is through
support and by bankrolling the operation. Sound familiar?
I don't think it has anything to do with being a racist. It's very decisively
directed at the obnoxious Ute fan-base who can't respect their own neighbors
enough to get away from stupid names such as zoobies, TDS and yBu. They can't
even bring themselves to simply say the word BYU.I think the day
that the obnoxious Utes quit calling the Cougars zoobies is the same day that
the obnoxious Cougars quit distorting the Ute's name. Oh wait.. That's
probably not gonna happen. The real issue here isn't racism. It's
simple respect for your neighbor and the Utes are every bit as guilty of it, if
not more, as the BYU fans are.
I couldn't agree more. Stats don't lie. They are what they are.BCS
trips - Utah 2, BYU 0Woulda, coulda, and mightbes cannot change this
fact today.Thank you for bringing that up.
so don't pt out history because the ducks and seminoles will rule!
I hate the ranking process. No matter what 100%. Even though the first week you
win by 28, and the next you win by 10, does not mean anything. Utah should be at
least 16th in the poll instead of 18th. If Utah beats Oregon, they will move up
in the poll. My prediction is Utah 31, Oregon 10. GO
Re: History repeats itself Yes but what history? 2008 or 2007? BYU just
might run the table in the MWC like it did in 2006 and 2007 and Utah might
struggle. Then again it might be like 2008. Nobody really knows.
Kyle was right that the game would have been completely different had those 2
turnovers not happened in the first half. The fact that Peel and Asiata fumbled
is not an excuse though - that's something Utah has to work on. That game WAS
pretty hard to watch, especially with Vroman COMPLETELY off his mark. Almost
embarrassing. RJ Stanford and Brandon Burns didn't help the situation with
penalty after penalty because of bad pass coverage. The Utes also need to learn
how to finish a great drive, it's almost as if seeing the red zone freaks them
out. But overall, there's no need to worry. I'm not sure many people remember
that last year the Utes had a few games they SHOULD HAVE EASILY WON, but
struggled for whatever reason. It's all a part of changing, improving, and
growing as a team. Go Utes! And if cougar fans were any type of normal and
generous people they would be cheering the Utes on until conference play.
As a huge BAMA fan, i came on this site last year to read the Utah reaction to
the sugar bowl, so i came on today to read what was going on since Utah
impressed me in that game. i am wondering why are you guy still talking about
that game. It was last year and is over and done with. Utah beat us good and
they had a great year. That game has nothing to do with this year as you can see
BAMA came into the year rank higher than last year so the Utah beat down didn't
hurt us in the rankings.
This is sounding like last year. BYU starts strong and Utah wins ugly.
Remember how that turned out. I personally think TCU will be the BCS buster
this year. Their defense is scary fast.
The difference between last year and this year is BYU returns most of its key
offensive players and BYU's defense is MUCH improved.Utah lost
almost all of its key players on offense, defense AND special teams.Last season, most BYU fans knew that BYU was probably a year away from having
a REALLY good team, but bought into The Quest anyway after a promising 6-0
start. This year, the majority of BYU's team leaders are experienced
seniors who have learned from the mistakes they made last season.Utah, on the other hand, is only a shadow of the team they had last season,
with little senior leadership. Last season, Utah, even with all of their talent,
was fortunate to beat Michigan, Air Force, Oregon State and TCU. An undefeated
season could easily have been a 2- or 3- loss season.Unless Utah
improves dramatically in practice this week, Oregon will end the Utes winning
streak this week.As a BYU fan, that would be disappointing because I
was hoping to see the Cougars beat a solid, Top 15 Utah team in November to
bolster BYU's SOS.
As a BYU fan living in Oregon (and also a UO alum), I hope Utah beats the Ducks.
But, it's Autzen, and the fans are loud and roudy like few other places. Let's
be honest, it's a weekly highlight in Eugene to go to the Duck games and enjoy
football and alcohol. The Ducks are always very talented, but can
be very hot and cold. If UO doesn't come out strong, then Utah has a very good
chance - but Utah better bring one of their best efforts. The SJSU game was
pretty unimpressive - let's hope they do better this week (they'll have to).If there's one annoying thing about the Ducks, it's that their mouths
tend to run ahead of their ability to win. They tend to talk like they're USC
but play like they are a mid level player in the Pac-10 (which is what they
are). They've had years when they are near unbeatable in Pac-10 play, including
some big wins over USC, etc., but I'm not sure this is one of them. However,
beating Oregon at home is difficult.Go MWC teams (non-conference)
...who wants the Utes to win this weekend. Not because I suddenly
like the Utes, but for the same reasons I cheered for them in the Sugar Bowl: A
top-25 Ute team helps both the Mountain West Conference and BYU by increasing
their strength-of-schedule.Plus, a Ute victory will hurt Boise
State's SoS and make them less likely to get to a BCS bowl ahead of the MWC
champion. However, I would just add that you Ute fans who still
believe this team is anywhere close to being as good as last year's are on some
heavy-duty hallucinogens.Even Whittingham realizes he has major
problems this year, problems that will become undeniable when the Utes start
playing their MWC schedule.
Relax Uteville. All San Jose State did was prove the Utes have some
wrinkles to iron out.The Utes always seem to take a few games to get
rolling. Remember ... a lot of new guys are working the kinks out of their game.
And the best way to do that is with playing time. I know it's easy
to dismiss San Jose State as a pushover that Utah should have annihilated. But
the truth is San Jose State isn't as terrible a team as they have been in the
past.In their first game against USC (which I watched) they did
reasonably well in the first quarter. It was only when the got they
got severely behind that they decided to rollover for the Trojans. With the
Utes, they were never out of the game. That alone gave them a lot of confidence
to continue the fight against Utah.
Utah and Oregon both need to eliminate mistakes if they want to win. I didn't
see Utah's first two games but have read about the turnovers and penalties and
they sound pretty familiar to us Duck fans. Oregon has bigger issues, though.
The Ducks' O-line is still playing poorly and Masoli (QB) is still overthrowing
the ball too much. Our defense looks pretty stout holding BSU to 17 points
(despite defending two games worth of plays), and accounting for 17 points for
the Ducks against Purdue. I honestly have no idea how this game will play out.
If both teams execute it could be an instant classic coming down to an overtime
or two. If Oregon continues to play like it has the last two weeks, our shiny
new head coach will have serious questions to answer and might need some ice
packs for his office chair. If Utah continues to turn the ball over and rack up
penalty yards your BCS aspirations will have to wait another year.
The Utes better fix that turnover problem quick or they can kiss the winning
streak good-bye. GO UTES!!
Ducks have not impressed at all this year. Utes have new coordinators and QB. If
the game was in Salt lake it would be a walk over by the Utes. Call it 50-50 in
Much improved defense? So far, but lets be realistic. BYU struggles when teams
spread them out with 4-5 WR's. Neither OU or Tulane have done that. Tulane is
terrible and doesn't have the ability, and OU seemed to think they could just
power over BYU in the first half, and with a QB taking his first snaps in the
second couldn't adjust.Lets wait until a team spreads the Y defense
to proclaim them MUCH better than last year. Remember, they shut out UCLA and
Wyoming last year, and were then torched by UNLV, CSU, TCU and Utah. Don't go printing those NC 2009 shirts just yet. Settle down, it's 2
games.FYI - playing the coulda game is ridiculous. BYU could have
had 6 losses last year if they didn't pull out some close games. Nobody cares.
Just win baby! Go Utes! It doesn't matter if you win by 1 or 50. It's still the
same!One game a time.
The little yewties are going to be beat single handed by the Ducks.RE: BAMA Fan 2:43 p.m. Isn't it interesting that the EWE's are still living
in the past........Wait until next week and we will read even more
about the past and their Sugar Bowl Win.
Amazing how Forcier has a "great" game against ND and is now "a superstar" yet
was not nearly as good as Wynn in high school. What the heck are the Utes
coaches thinking? Play the champion! Win with Wynn!!
FIVE WRs?Are you planning on having an offensive lineman play QB?BYU's defense has the speed and savy to handle the multiple WR sets this
season. If opposing teams leave their backfield empty like that very often, they
had better have a very good backup QB because Jan and Colby will have a field
day with unhindered shots on the QB!
Kyle will get his boys ready and wrinkles ironed out. As a student and die-hard
Utah fan I'm not worried a bit.Go Utes!!!
Yes 5 WRs!! 5 lineman, 1 QB and with an empty backfield, 5 WRs 5+5+1=....11
which crazy as it sounds, is the number of players on the field...wierd.
Regardless of which school you attend, please respect the Ute tribe and refrain
from using ignorant names such as Yewts or Ewes or whatever. Call U supporters
what you like, but please respect our Utah natives. You make yourself and your
cohorts look ignorant and sometimes racist. There is no excuse for it.
Am I the only one that saw Oregon squeak past a medicore Purdue team? Yes, Utah
has some work to do this week, but Oregon has a few chinks in their armor as
well. Oregon is beatable. The winner will likely be the one who makes the
commits the least number of turnovers. If Utah corrects the turn overs, they
will be just fine.
NOBODY is disrespecting the Ute tribe!if they're showing disrespect
it's to Utah's mascot; if you don't like the Utah mascot being disrepected, then
petition the U to stop using your tribal name for their sports teams; if you
allow your name to be used as a mascot, then you have no complaint when that
mascot is disrespected!
NCAA Offensive Scrimmage Rules 1-1-1-b-2 and 7-1-3-b require having at least
SEVEN players on the line of scrimmage.By definition, you could
NEVER have more than THREE wide receivers. You could have additional eligible
receivers, but they would be called split-ends or tight-ends.
As a BYU fan I would just like to say Go-Utes! beat Oregon. The MWC is getting
UTAH 38Oregon 21GO UTES!!!!!
Everything is fine up on the hill. No team having to replace key starters on
offense and defense is going to come out looking like a polished machine. I am
impressed by the character of the players the Utes have had in the past few
years, although Cougar fans have kept taking shots at them they have kept their
integrity. Way to go Kyle and the gang.
Utah struggled, this does not bode well for them against a team like Oregon.
Utah is vunerable this week. I hope not. BYU came out of the gate strong again.
Beating Oklahoma anytime is a big deal, FSU will be a big challenge. If BYU
wins, then they have a pretty decent shot at a BCS game based on their schedule.
TCU, Utah, & Air Force all come to Provo. Their road games are UNLV ( possibly
the biggest test on the road) Wyoming, San Diego State, & pitiful New Mexico.
Funny how all the hype was last year, yet BYU is in a better position this year.
Can they really get to the National Championship game, only if everything falls
their way. First, they have to win.1. TCU toughest team left on the
schedule. Speed and quickness issues for BYU exposed.2. FSU- They
have the althletes to expose BYU's lack of speed and quickness.3.
Utah- Struggled a bit, & they have a brutal Conference schedule UNLV, BYU, TCU &
CSU road games. Plus two more quality non conference. Oregon on the road and
Louisville.BYU needs Texas, USC,Penn State & Cal to lose. The SEC
schedule will do the rest.
receivers can line up on the line of scrimmage
They can also be called slot recievers, but they are still considered (though
not technically) wide recievers, the point really being that you can have five
guys spread wide without any of them being a lineman like the original post
re: history tends... "If the Pac10 officials had made the calls they were
supposed to, BYU would have won that game by 3 TD's. But they didn't thanks to
all the holding Washington got away with."Now that's rich - a BYU
fan complaining about officials not making holding calls. You should watch your
own O-line every once in a while, buddy.
Yes, of course, if you *really* watch these games, it's on the BYU o-line that
holds. It's just a conspiracy that they don't call it more than they do...
