Salt Lake immigration attorney faces federal charges for allegedly faking work passes
Sounds just like attorneys
Compassion is dead in Utah
RE:anon, This was a Federal investigation. Our Attorney General spoke at this
companies grand reopening in 2007, he would never prosecute a company he
commended for bringing cheap labor here. Utah has compassion for
those who care enough about their family, and others, by doing it right. These companies were exchanging employees between themselves, so the
excuse of not finding suitable employees in that field was a lie. Since they
committed fraud and hired people illegally, they should be charged also.
So why aren't the businesses knowing using falsified documents not being
arrested and thrown in jail with this lawyer? Going after one crook when
hundreds are involved is an injustice to the american people. Has the Fed's gone
after these illegal document holders? Have the illegals been fired and sent back
to mexico? The Fed's must also pursue and prosecute business that are
employing illegal aliens, put them out of business as it will be no loss to the
state or america. Illegals with jobs are not tax payers and employers are tax
evaders.Compassion is not dead in Utah, I have all the compassion in
the world for the american people, but none for illegal aliens from mexico. They
are putting americans out of work, stealing services from citizens and the
Sounds just like bottom-feeding attorneys . . . and agents, and former
government workers . . . and generally greedy, self-centered, all-about-me kind
of people, just like in any line of work. A sad commentary on society. They
should be made an example of.
I have driven bye this law firm several times. I have noticed nervous illegals
coming and going each time I was there. I always wondered what was going on.
To think I was considering applying for a job there after I graduate from law
school. I'm completing my J.D. in another state and was planning on returning
to Utah to specialize in immigration law. It's a good thing this story was
uncovered. Thanks Des News!
How about compassion for legal US citizens who would have gotten those jobs had
they been posted at Workforce Services as required.
If President Obama replaces Republican-appointed Brett Tolman as U.S. attorney,
I hope he remains in Utah to run for Utah Attorney General replacing ineffective
I'll never understand how liberals equate compassion with lawlessness. It is not compassionate to assist someone to break the law. It is not
compassionate to encourage people and families to come to the US illegally,
placing them at risk of displacement, deportation, and prison terms. And it's
not compassion that appears to have gotten this law firm into trouble. It's greed. Pure and simple.Liberals need gardners and
babysitters and drywallers and roofers. So they try to justify their hiring of
illegals by calling it compassion. It's not. It's greed. It hurts illegals. It hurts Americans deprived of opportunity because of
illegal labor. And, most of all, it hurts the Nation to have so many liberals
wink at the law of the land, all the while patting themselves on the back for
Your post was kind of scary. I'm hoping you don't live anywhere near me. I don't
want people driving by me enough to notice how I'm feeling on a regular basis.
Kind of creepy!
Yeah -- this law firm is part of that 90% that give the rest of us a bad name!
Everyone complains about illegals taking jobs from Americans. What jobs,
dishwashers, cleaning motel rooms, mostly unskilled manual labor. Why am I the
only person who sees this as an economic issue. Mexico is an impoverished
country with no economy to support their citizens. How are harsh laws and fences
going to solve this problem? Why is anyone surprised that they come here
illegaly. Desperate people take desperate measures. This issue is about
poverty, nothing else.
Here in AZ the joke is "build a 20 foot wall and we'll build a 21 foot
ladder"The US will never stop people from crossing the border.Never! So let's come up with legal avenues for tracking and documenting
those coming into the US.Most of the people I talk to would happily be
documented to let the feds know where they are and what they're doing. But
to think that we are going to stop this emotional issue by building fences and
sending more troops is wholly unrealistic, and extremely expensive. It's
been going on for a hundred years.Time for new ideas, not endless
complaints and critisism.
If he was telling the illegals to go back to Mexico, then he was doing the RIGHT
THING! What is the problem?
I have spent many years working in many different kitchens in the food
Industries and I have too say that the mexican people are much better workers
than any of the lazy white people I ve worked with!!!they take there jobs and
act as tho it wont be there tomarrow!!!!
Drug smuggling has been going on for a hundred years, too. And bank robbery.
And kidnapping. And rape and murder. So, since these crimes have
gone on for awhile, we should embrace them?Yeah, it's time for new
ideas, alright, not those like yours that have encouraged illegal immigration
for the past 100 years. We can no longer afford it.
Yes, let's tear down all the fences, and allow anyone who is in poverty to enter
the United States to have a better life. That is the answer that will solve all
the worlds problems, and it will destroy our evil American culture that brought
us things like freedom, a high standard of living and achievements like sending
men to the moon.
This attorney is not just guilty of fraudulent work visas, he is also guilty of
helping illegals get green cards by telling them to get married to US citizens
for money. His advise to my former "wife" was to make the marriage look real and
the INS is to stupid and don't have the manpower to investigate, as long as it
looks real. She got her green card here in UT, her husband from South Africa got
his with his "paid" spouse, and their children repeated the process over and
over. ALL got green cards, while they were told to make the marriage look real.I
know them and they never lived with their paid US spouses, after they got their
green cards, they divorced their US spounses and remarried each other! I have
reported this more than 30 times, said I would testify that I know this is all a
fraud, and nobody even returned a call. Thus, the door is open for every scam
artist to committ fraud, because nobody listens!! I am sending everything to the
ICE today again and to the special agent in charge. Lets see
It isn't just about the cheap labor landscapers and motels owners and the like,
but construction companies that use illegal aliens as electricians, plumbers,
carpenters, drywallers and so on. These illegal aliens take the jobs of honest
construction workers as well as unskilled legal workers. Illegal
immigration has destroyed the job market for students. Why should employers hire
students, when they can hire illegal aliens and not have to worry about child
labor laws and the students' schedules. Then there is the problem training
students which is probably even more difficult. Unskilled students could also
handle the unskilled motel and restaurant jobs. How do you think this work was
done BEFORE we had illegal aliens. Also, your sympathy for Mexicans
is misplaced. Perhaps you could find a little sympathy for the millions of
unskilled Americans living in poverty.
The arguments to justify illegal invaders are frivolous at best and treasonous
at worst! Notice how the EXACT SAME kinds of arguments can be used to bring in
BOATLOADS of Indonesians, Koreans, Chinese, etc. Yes, there's poverty in the
world but the U.S. can't solve EVERYONE'S problems. The U.S. can and does have
a great capacity to help the worlds populations, but it must be CONTROLLED,
otherwise our own economy will suffer. What citizens should be concerned
about is an apparentally totally inept federal govt. that is tasked with
regulating the immigrants!RE: Anon @12:11I could relate the
same kinds of stories for hours! As near as I can tell the Feds pretty much do
what they want when they want and try to do as little as possible in regulating
illegal immigration! BUT: they do like to have their press conferences!
Mexico has the 15th largest economy in the world. There are 4.5 trillion people
in this world that are living under worse conditions.People coming
here illegally take the place of those who truly need it, and are willing to
obey our laws to come here. E-Verify now. America's greedy
businessmen cannot be left to do the right thing without regulation.
*** Here in AZ the joke is "build a 20 foot wall and we'll build a 21 foot
ladder" The US will never stop people from crossing the border. Never! ***It's funny that so many liberals who think the government is entirely
competent to do ANYTHING and everything - national health care, anyone? -
suddenly decide that the government is not competent enough to bother with
securing the border.Heck, even most conservatives believe the
government is competent enough to collect taxes, educate our children, arrest
burglars, and so much more. "Not able to secure the border" is not an excuse -
it's a lie.
Don't vilify all of the businesses. Finding good help was very difficult not
long ago and businesses were forced to look south for employees. Once you find
someone you like, you, naturally, want to keep them coming back. There are
many, many businesses out there who are hiring illegals. Businesses working
with this law firm were trying to doing things legally. The businesses paid
large sums of money for legal assistance. This compensation and trust were,
obviously, misplaced. The bad guys here were the attorneys who were misleading
their clients, not the businesses.
There is clearly a loophole that is being exploited. While this may discourage
other "immigration advocates" from committing this kind of fraud which I suspect
is far more wide spread, reforms should be designed to prevent this kind of
fraud from being possible. E-verify should apply to ALL employers. As it was
during the Great Depression when there was a strong Mexican Repatriation
movement, unemployment is again very high and legal residents desperately
require and should be entitled to the vast number of both unskilled and
blue-color jobs that they need and which in many cases have been taken from them
by individuals who are not even legally entitled to be working in this country.
The very fact that an illegal immigrant is working here illegally and
necessarily submitting fraudulent documents to do so should constitute about 5
or 6 felony level crimes because of all the laws they are breaking and it's not
like we don't know where to find them if we merely enforced existing laws. I am
a liberal and will not be cowed by liars screaming "prejudice" because it's
not... and I wan't a hotline to call that works.
It's not just the liberals who are compassionate. How many of you who complain
about immigration have been to the slums of Mexico or any other country? And
why do you focus just on Mexico? When was the last time you saw a story
cracking down on illegal Canadians? I don't support illegal behavior, but when
the laws are broken (as they are here) they must be fixed. To simply villify
all Mexicans is bigotry at its finest. As a Republican, I am appalled that many
fellow Republicans have no problem condemning Mexicans, but would be shocked to
think that their own Irish, Chinese, Slovakian (insert any other origin here)
ancestors may have arrived illegally too. It is no different that the
environmentalist who spends time at his cabin in the woods complaining about
others wanting to destroy "his" environment by wanting a cabin also. Let's find
a way to allow people to come into our country legitimately, not simply complain
about those who are here as a result of a broken system. That said, lawyers who
perpetrate fraud should be charged!
