Wow! A poll taken to find out what everyone on both sides of the political
spectrum already knows. Now that's fine information gathering and journalism...
telling us what we already know.Everyone knows the dominant
religious camp will vote hand's down for a McCain and Romney ticket... that
doesn't take a drop of brain sugar to figure out.As for a poll see
if Hillary helps or hinders Obama... now there's another one the pollsters
believe they need to tell us something about everyone already knows... yes, most
of the polled voters, which by the way is according to another poll defined to
be around 80% Republican, is going to say anything and everything they can
negative about Hillary. The reasons don't really matter, only that we didn't
need a poll to waste time to find out something every thinking person in the
State of Utah knows these voters would say anyway.Yes, most likely
Obama won't choose Clinton for his VP running mate, and that might be something
Republicans should really be concerned about, especially if he selects Jim Webb
or Mark Warner, thereby capturing the Independent white male vote that'll
determine the presidency this time around.
Mitt may help McCain but the prospect of Cindy McCain operating a beer
distribution company out of the White House sure doesn't!
outsiders view? Utah will vote McCain no matter what. Only Utah residents think
otherwise. the rest of the country KNOWS you will vote McCain ticket even
thought he dissed your man Romney in the early stages of the primaries. you
can't vote any other way. The only ones that don't know this is you. Thank you
for letting a out of state person make a simple (but true) statement.
John McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts, and Mitt Romney raised the capital gains
tax.John McCain did not support a constitutional ban on gay
marriages, and Mitt Romney legalized gay civil unions in Massachusetts.John McCain has long favored regulatory restraints on gun usage, and Mitt
Romney signed into legislation the largest measure of gun control in the history
of Massachusetts. So, what's the difference between Romney, McCain,
Clinton, and Obama? NOTHING! NOT A DARN THING!John McCain is
liberal and so is Mitt Romney. They would be a great team! Mitt Romney's
father WALKED OUT on Barry Goldwater's convention speech, in an effort to
support global communism. Well, like father - like son. The GOP
has finally sold out. John McCain's nomination is the nail in the coffin for
the Party of Goldwater. Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave. When the Republican Party is JUST AS LIBERAL as the Democrats - it's time to
look elsewhere.Bob Barr? Ron Paul? Pat Buchanan?
A poll statewide? In Utah? You guys really needed it to know what it would say?
Seriously? Gee.....that was a tough call. Romney good for McCain...Shocker!!!
Hillary bad for Obama (IN UTAH!!!!!!) Also shocker!
I wonder if Utah would vote McCain if Huckabee were on the ticket.
I could have told you Romney, who is popular in Utah, would add to McCain's
popularity and that Clinton, who is loathed in Utah, would lower the number of
Obama supporters. This poll and article is one of the MOST WORTHLESS pieces of
information Desnews has ever published. Why not an article about political
party realignment in Utah or a grass roots organization of idependents to seek
positive change? Either presidential candidate is unacceptable so hopefully
Utah will break with GOP and it can start something that could be effective in
the long term.
As Utah goes, so goes the nation....
In my book Obama was already out after the playground battles he and Hilary
Clinton had. Obama would be a fool to even think of her. The lady is power
hungry. And Obama flat out is inexperienced. That's my opinion about it all. So
with or w/o Romney McCain has my vote.
Yes! Mitt helps McCain, except among die hard fundamentalist. Who do not believe
that Mormons are Christian. That is a small noisy segment of the population but
among 330 Million Americans that still a large number of people. I want to see
Mitt on the Ticket because it would be the Best For The Potential Aborted
Children Of America. Also the Best Chance of Getting The Right Judges On The
High Court to Over Turn Roe v Wade and Gay Marriage. Also best for family values
and to perhaps Take Back Sunday. One of the problems is Mitt is Not Mormon
Enough for some Mormons and Mormon Period makes him objectionable to others. I
live in Hawaii so it does not really matter, sadly we do not vote directly for
President, (President Not Elected By Popular Vote) Hawaii belongs to Obama, so
it does not matter who I vote for. 3 Electoral Vote At the very end of the Day.
The only people less counted is Guam. Thankfully there is lots to do at the
Polls on Election Day besides Vote for President. I would like to see McCain and
who ever he can win with.
How about polling OTHER states & see what voters think about Romney? Hint- It's
not great- otherwise he wouldn't have gotten drubbed in the primaries.
"...Lizzie | 1:21 a.m. June 22, 2008I wonder if Utah would vote
McCain if Huckabee were on the ticket...."Heck no! Huckabee is
one of them evil Baptists! They only believe in what the Bible says, not our
prophets or scriptures!
The point of the article was that the VP choice is unusually important this
year, in part because there are large numbers of disappointed voters in both
parties. It was a good article. Romney is the clear choice for a strong VP.
Boo Birds. It doesn't matter what the paper prints, you will boo.Boo to
This poll was kind of a joke. In fact, I laughed when I read the headline. Is
this really news? Puleeze
I have to agree with those who wonder why this poll was taken. To sell
newspapers? If it was a nationwide poll, that would be different.
When Obama says he will run a 50-state campaign, he whispers to himself, "Except
Utah where they are sheep." Can't blame the guy for thinking that either.
Who care about UTAH anyway?
There is so little function difference between the parties that you guys failed
to ask the obvious question. What about an Obama, Romney, ticket. If Mitt
morphed back into "Massachusetts Mitt" he would easily be liberal enough for the
Democaratic ticket, and his financial expertise would be very attractive to
With Mitt on the ticket, does that cancel out McCain's adulterous affair with
Cindy while he was still married to the wife that stood by him during his years
as a POW?
They need to change the title to limit the scope of the poll. It is misleading
people to think this is a national poll when it only includes Utah.Great point about running a beer distribution company from the White House. I
guess those commercials would have a White House Stamp of approval on them.
LOL!Camille...McCain was out after he lost his touch in
changing his disguise and supporting the worse president in US history. It
is time for CHANGE!GO OBAMA! YES WE CAN!
The party of Goldwater??? hhaa he didn't even win in utah. this is probably
the ONLY state where someone would still be in mourning about that though.the poll might as well have said most people in utahlike green jello
and ice cream.
HIllary would be bad for everyone!
Utah has more dodgers for the United States Army and MarinesThey all want
to be copsThis is Utah.Utah is a poor StateLow wages, 2 and 3
jobs eachThis resession will put you people in the rearsYour R
President is what has caused this and the killing of many innocent people here
and abroadI don't know 1 Utah'n that does not think. The Just know
stuff that has no truth to it.Sheep without a mind
Better pole would involve Huckabee --- I think that Utah would be a blue state
it Huckabee was involved.
So they polled Republicans in Utah and they said they like Romney and don't like
Hillary. This is earth shattering news. I'm sure it will have a huge impact on
both candidates VP selections and in the general election as well.
McCain as Commander in chief? Why would any SANE person want 4 more years of the
Bush fiasco and with Romney it would be worse.
Everybody read "When Salt Lake City Calls" which will open your eyes why Utah
should not have a say in the electioon
How easily people forget how much hatred there is between McCain and Mitt --
McCain opposed all the earmarks our good Utah senators sent to SLC for Mitt's
Olympics, and this animosity was widely reported throughout the primaries.
While the two appear to have made up, I think there may be too much mistrust and
differences between the two for a ticket. Mitt opposes wind power in
Massachusetts and fuel efficiency standards for cars, which flies in the face of
McCain's global warming goals and contradictory energy policies (cut CO2
emissions but expand oil drilling that McCain advocates -- at least Mitt is
consistent with his views on his faith in more oil). Bottom line is that Mitt
will appeal to conservatives, but Mitt will handicap McCain with independents
who will not like Mitt's anti-progressive views on energy.
Who is getting polled?
Sock monkey Republicans in Utah will give the state's electoral votes to Insane
McCain, and work like orcs in GOP call centers on behalf of their fascist cause,
no matter which candidate McWar picks for VP.
Who paid for this poll? What a waste of money...
The poll is meaningless outside of Utah because Utahns are so out of touch with
the rest of the country.
Foolishness?Does the military comment include the high-profile
222nd? Doesn't Utah lead in per-capita computer ownership?Doesn't Utah lead with the highest percentage of high school seniors going to
college?Doesn't Utah have the highest percentage of passport
holders?Doesn't the BYU football team speak in the range of
20-something languages? The sheep that you are surrounded by have
more passports, computers, college degrees, and language skills than wherever
you came from. Even the U of Utah grads are pretty smart (requisite U bashing in
anticipation of the fall). The poll is rather useless. Of course
Utah likes Romney. The problem is that the southerners don't.
Romney is A HYPOCRITE, i would not give him 2 cents to save my own life! HILLARY
is immensely popular & is strong! who runs these polls anyway? let me guess
this is not news.quit wasting precious news space reminding us that
Utahns like Mitt more than Hillary.
I would not be surprised if McCain selects Mike Huckabee, since the Evangelicals
have voice in the Republican Party.
What about Ron Paul? He has such an adherence to constitutional principles
renowned as Dr No. I feel that would unite Americans on so many levels. Now that
would be change! Obama has taught Constitutional Law, if he is a true patriot
wouldn't bridging the gap across party lines be a major move for unity in
America. I can't think of a better campaign slogan my self. For a Lawyer and a
Doctor. We will need legal advice to restore the US Constitution and a Dr to
administer the healing so the that the masses reap the health. Not just at home
but globally I feel that this team could be a phenomenon for the world.
Gee, I wonder if Utah would vote for the mormon church, I guess we need a poll
to find out.
How can this story really be the top story (online) on Sunday? What a waste.
Do you people and this paper really think the rest of the nation cares about
your preferences? Of course they don't and never will as long as you have this
follow the leader mentality. Just look at the mess this country is in, led by a
lying republican administration for 8 years and would anyone that knows ANYTHING
about politics elect another republican? Only in good old Utah--yes yes. I have
stated for months to please throw the incumbents out--ALL OF THEM. Now is the
time to start a good house cleaning and rid ourselves of the rotten mess called
politics. Vote people vote.
Duh.....Mitt helps. Hillary hurts. WOW what a revelation for Utah.
Someone PAID for that poll?Who cares? There's plenty of Utah voters
who just punch the (R) button, mindlessly, year after year. Get a
clue, Utah: You haven't had any political power since the Democrats took
over both the Senate and the House. It's going to get much worse after the 2008
elections. If that's what you want, that's what you'll continue to
get: limp-wristed white men towing the line for one religion.
I think if Huckabee is placed on the ticket, Utahns would run to Obama.
Every state's residents think their state is the center of the universe. But I
would think that after he was trounced in the primaries and mostly because he is
Mormon, people in Utah would realize that Romney would not be a great asset
elsewhere---I hate to break it to you, but most people think all Mormons are
still polygamists who don't believe in Jesus. It is sad that people don't know
more about Mormonism and all the positive things that happen in Utah, but they
don't. The YFZ ranch situation just made it worse--most people don't know FLDS
from LDS and think if Romney is LDS, he has 9 secret wives. Others share the
Utah hate for Hillary but I don't know of anywhere that shared your love of
Romney. I think most evangelicals would view it as one more spit in the eye by
McCain so it is not going to happen. Does that mean that the reddest state will
support Obama? I highly doubt it, even if McCain picks Huckabee. Utah will go
Blue around the time St George becomes a beach town.
the flagrant opportunist's current dream (he never stops dreaming): somehow
mccain picks the opportunist as running mate, SOMEHOW mccain wins the
presidency, then, mccain is unable to finish his term and the opportunist
becomes number 45 ... what a nightmare..btw, thank you dn for
the spell checker ... these posts are not as sloppy as they once were!
At 11 years of IL and federal government service, Obama has MORE experience
than: (oops) Ronald Reagan -- 8 yrs as governor of CA
Woodrow Wilson -- 2 yrs as governor of NY Theodore Roosevelt -- 4 yrs
combined as Secty of Navy & VP
McCain is a war hero.Romney's dad got him a deferment so he never
served. Now not one of his fives sons has served in the military, either.
While we are 'at war', no less!Oh yeah, Mitt's great fit for McCain.
That is, if no one else in the whole country will accept the spot.
Well of course Utah thinks Romney's a good choice. Duh .... and most places
think Clinton would poison the Obama ticket and administration with the baggage
she has said "everybody knows all about." Yep. Everybody do.
I think that argument might be more compelling in a state that didn't regularly
talk up the military and then refrain from sending any of their children into
it. People in UT are altogether following the Romney lead to get the irony.
only in Utah. This debate is worthless, Obama and Clinton will win the
election. People will laugh McCain/Huckabie/Romney out of the water. Most
Utahans will be sad for at least 4 years knowing a Woman is second in command.
Some Utahans will feel the same way about a Black guy in charge. Booo whoo.
Utah should know, rich old white guys = status quo. Status quo isn't working.
The rest of the world knows it. A majority of Utah is in denial.
Who's Mitt Romney?
McCain is the GOP's Bob Dole for 2008.Way to put the "Best and
Brightest" out there for all to see.See you Republicans in 2016.
Romney leads in nearly every poll across the nation as the best pick for VP...
Some of you need to get out more or read more or something positive. Romney is a really good man. America should only be so lucky and smart enough
to get him somewhere where he can be the blessing to America that perhaps God
intends. So much bitterness against someone who is good.Romney did NOT legalize marriage in Mass. His legislature did that with
enough votes to override a veto. He gave a wonderful and very impassioned
speech about marriage being between a man and a woman an d nothing else as he
was trying to get them to NOT vote it in. How many of you have
been in the military. What part of volunteer military do you not get??? No one
is required to go!!!! People do it because they want to. Near as I can see,
they are wonderful young men who contribute a great deal to society. You people
need to listen more to those speaking, not those telling you what is said.. America is waking up and realizing what an asset Mitt would be for our
nation. Try it!
McCain USED TO BE a war hero. When he voted against veterans' benefits for the
military of THIS war he lost his cred as any kind of hero.
What was special about the winter Games in Utah that bought Mitt in and what
does this say nationally about Utah values? Can Obama win if he
doesn't carry Utah? Did the man who made Obama electable, George Bush, carry
Utah? This is another dark baby or Obama doll showing the rest of
America what Utah is really about.
VOR..... That was a very bigoted and generally thoughtless message you just
sent to Utahn's. I'm quite sure that I don't care if a woman is in the captains
seat or VP. I'm happy that an african american man is vying for the white
house. And I can only guess what you mean about your "rich old white guys"
comment. Funny how you insinuate that Utahn's are racist, then make
comments on "white guys".I'm voting for whomever will care the most
about this country and make it a stonger, safer, and more economically stable
place to live.I can't wait for the debates to start. My
bet though is that neither Romney nor Clinton will get the VP invite. I'm very
certain it won't be HRC since it would damage Obama's chances even more heavily
I would have to agree with Re: VOR | 1:05 p.m. June 22, 2008. People on these
blogs call Utahns racist...sexist..and much worse. However, they end up throwing
us all in the same pot by putting all of utah in a category...I wonder how Salt
Lake feels about that, considering the number of democrats that have been mayor
and what not. If I don't agree with your bigotry than I am a bigot....funny
Seems obvious that the reasons most Utah voters don't care who Obama selects as
VP is that they won't vote Democratic anyway. And they'll vote for McCain
regardless of whom he picks. This comes as close to a non-story as
anything I've read this season. In all likelihood, Obama will pick
someone he would like to work with and who will make a fine president, someday.
Not necessarily someone folks from Utah would prefer.
McCain has his reasons for not supporting that version of the GI Bill. Even
though I disagree with him on this one at least he has the courage to take sides
that can be viewed as unpopular. Unlike Obama who is too worried about his image
that "if" he chooses a position it will one that will portray him in a positive
way or he will just vote present or hit the wrong button. McCain has sacrificed
a lot for this country and well, Obama has sacrificed nothing. McCain is a war
hero and nothing will change that.
I read all of the posted comments and I am absolutely astounded at the
presumption of the posters who state their misguided and mostly erroneous
opinions as fact, no doubt about it. I rest secure in the knowledge that most
thinking Utahns, and there are thinking Utahns, see their opinions as mostly
unfounded, uneducated, biased trip-trap.
Today on TV it was announced Romney best by far, Mccain needs Michigan, guess
who won the primary there? Of course, Mitt. People get over the Mormon thing!
This country allows FREEDOM OF RELIGION!!!!Romney also knows how to raise money.
He is very well respected, and very well qualified. He's a man of integrity and
a team player. He has spoken most highly of Mccain and mended their primary
woes. I even think they actually like one another, remember the belly laughs
when traveling together. It was amazing. Men in maturity!!!!Letting go of
differences, for the good of the GOP. Even Al Sharpten traveled to Utah to check
out the Mormon religion, He was totally okay with all that he learned. Ann
and Mitt Romney are quality peoplewith wonderful morals, and a very nice
family. We would be most fortunate to have a businessman in the White House!!
PLease think hard, we are at criticalcrossroads in this country.
Marcus posted: "I have to agree with those who wonder why this poll was taken.
To sell newspapers? If it was a nationwide poll, that would be
different. When Obama says he will run a 50-state campaign, he whispers to
himself, "Except Utah where they are sheep." Can't blame the guy for thinking
that either."----------------------Marcus, Senator Obama WON in
Utah. He is the candidate of inclusion and sees each and every state as
important to our union. Hilliary on the other hand thought ONLY the BIG states
with the BIG delegates matters and certainly let us all know about it.
"Donald Dunn, who served as Clinton's campaign representative in Utah, said
voters didn't see past the way she was portrayed in the media and by her
opponents. "I think people believe they know who she is, but really, that's a
cartoon caricature," Dunn said."-----------Why do so many of
Hilliary's supporters fail to acknowledge Hilliary lost because of her own
actions and words?? Yes, it is much easier to blame the media and her
opponent(s). Hilliary, with Bill's help, lost==they ran a shoddy campaign, used
the race card, Hilliary demeaned Sen Obama at every turn, to the extent she said
she and McCain were the only ones that qualified for CIC. She & Bill lied
consistently!! These are reasons why she lost.
When you speak of experience and Obama's qualifications it's good to know Romney
had only 4 years of experience. And in that 4 years he managed to take every
conceivable position on every issue. If McCain were to pick him
(tho I doubt he would) we'd hear about all the companies Romney took over and
dismantled and all the American jobs he eliminated -- not a good point when the
economy's in the toilet and McCain has already confessed that the economy is his
weak point. It will also resurrect the magnifying glass on the LDS at the very
time the church is meddling in CA politics and spending a huge amount of money
on a commercial temple (shopping mall). So far, increased investigation of the
church hasn't been good and what the mud fight of a political campaign would do
to it couldn't be good.
What do you have against Romney, you bigots?I am from Texas and I am for
ROMNEY, as VP or P. I have friends and relatives in California, Washington
State, Florida, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, and we are all for
ROMNEY.We love ROMNEY and we sre catholics and conservatives.
How many in the poll were undecided? Was Bob Barr, the Libertarian,
included in the polling?I need more information. The polling sample
seems a little small to me. No wonder polls are notoriously unreliable.
that the next poll offer three options for President:McCainObamaSomeone elseI think we all know how Utah would vote.Or how about letting them choose betweenMcCain/LiebermanObama/HagelTHAT should make a few heads explode...
It doesn't matter who McCain picks. When it comes to Utah, Satan himself would
win if he was on the Republcan ticket. Utah doesn't vote for the person or on
issues/principles that are important, it votes GOP because the GOP is seen as
the same as the Church. You can take that to the bank.
Oh my heck, people these days are so sad. There really is no need to
go attacking any of these politicians. What good does it do? People can have
their opinion and tell it for the world to hear, but the only place that it's
really going to matter is on that ballot. And the prejudice against
Utah shocks me as well. I can't believe some of these prejudiced comments. Just
because some yahoos decided to make monkey dolls some people assume that all
Utahns are racist and hate black people. Since they've already got that
assumption, why not throw in being sexist as well! Utah women come from Utah, so
they must believe that women shouldn't run for president.I'm so glad
I'm not old enough to vote yet. It really is sad how vicious people are being on
these boards. Where have kindness and consideration gone? Everyone has their own
opinion, can't you respect that? It's like someone says the word 'politics' and
everyone gets all bloodthirsty. Would you say these things face to face? Think about it.
This poll must be the joke of the day and it isn't even that funny. Utah will
carry McCain no matter who is on the ticket with him even if it were Huckabee
and if Romney were on the ticket it would probably be a 95% win in Utah. No,
the way that Utah goes is not the way the nation will go. The nation is tired
of Bush and the Republican party and want a change, anything would be better
than the last 8 years of a usless war, ripping up the constitution, fear
mongering and the worst economy in the developed world. Utah would vote for
McCain with Romney on the ticket but the rest of America wants nothing to do
with the king of flip - flop. As far as Obama is concerned I doubt seriously
that Hillary would be on the ticket with him. She deserves a position
much better than VP in the next presidency.
This how nutty the think of liberals is.Utah and mormons may be alot
of thingd but they are not stupid. They know who represents their values. Many years ago they most voted democrat, but when the democrats went
away from their values they voted republican.when the republicans
move away they will find someelse to vote for.Perhaps a third
party?Neither of the 2 major partys seem to be representing the
comman man.It may be time for a third party.Bob barr
Obama's never going to win Utah anyway! He's polling at 28%. Hillary would help
him in states that would put a Democrat in the White House.
THIS IS A SHOCKER!!!!
The only person that would help McCain more in Utah than Romney is if Howard
Hughes was brought back from the dead and promised every Mormon a job.If you had Alberto Gonzalas running for POTUS and Mitt as his VP, you would
get the same results.
Not Mitt, not Hillary, Crist and Webb. Winner: Obama Webb!
Good point. If you live a good life and treat people with respect. Do you have
to run around and announce you have values. A candidate doesn't determine your
values. I'm so sick of the GOP values rhetoric. Fix the economy. Quit using
religion like a whore to try and get what you want. Some of us have very deep
beliefs and we don't talk about them to spread an aggenda.Talk about
issues don't run around saying you are better than other people. Live you own
lives. And most of all make your own decisons. Study the issues and vote the way
you believe. Quit spreading hate like the Sean Hannity's of the world. Treat
people with respect. To me being malicous and hateful and treating people like
garbage isn't a way of showing that you have values. This country is
in trouble. All we will see is hatred and contention the next 5 months.
Unfortunately we are stuck with a 2 party system. Busting the 2 party system I
believe is the only way to escape the mess our country is in.
Never could understand why Utahns hate Hillary so much. We who know her
personally have great respect and admiration for her tenacity and ability to
stick with things until they are accomplished. She will have a much better
chance of helping the common individual if she remains in the Senate rather than
play second fiddle to Obama.By the way, Romney on the GOP ticket
might be the only thing that would get me to look at the Republicans.
AS We all know, "As goes Utah, so goes the rest of the nation." So this is proof
that Mitt should be VIP!
I prefer Romney over Hillary not because he's a fellow Mormon but because we
share the same VALUES. I'm tired of everybody assuming members of the LDS
Church are voting for Mitt Romney because he's also of the faith. That argument
is so old and ridiculous!!! Why do people always have to persecute and attack
us and NO we are not polygamous!!!! That ended a LONG TIME AGO!!!
I'm not from Utah. Seriously, my blood pressure is finally going down because
Hillary is not in the race. The thought of Bill wandering around the white
house with nothing to do, was really bothering me.
It is sad to see the hate and prejudice expressed by so many of those posting
comments. Their opinion show that they know so little about so much.
I often wonder,,,,,if Obama gets the white house? do you think he will paint it
pink!Mitt R has more savy about running things than Obama will ever
achieve in his life time, and it is definitley going to take someone with his
expertise to turn this country back around! GO McCain but please choose Romney!
McCain should pick Huckabee, that would be an unbeatable ticket.
Romney will not get the VP nod from John McCain. McCain holds both the man and
the church the man belongs to with deep-rooted disdain. Luckily for Mitt, he
will be passed over in the selection process.Should--by some
ill-advised belief Romney would shore up enough votes for a winning ticket--the
invitation to be VP come Romneys way, Mitt would be better served to decline.
Heres why: John McCain will not make a good president and Romney
will only suffer by being a part of that ticket. While McCain would
make a horrible president, he will never get the chance to prove this assertion
wrong. Obama will win in November. As for McCain, he should pick the
Huckster as Veep. That way they can both go down in a fiery ball of political
futility--losing so badly that neither will ever be a serious contender for the
post again.McCain and Abel 08 --Get that bumper sticker while you
can. Itll be a classic.
"I prefer Romney over Hillary not because he's a fellow Mormon but because we
share the same VALUES. "So you're big on hiring illegals, exporting
US jobs and mistreating animals?
How??? He couldnt even help himself let alone anyone else. We all got sick and
tired of the fact that he kept blaming the media for attacks against him and his
Church membership and that was the reason that he failed. (According to him.)
Funny how much the news is on Obama and HIS Church but you wont hear him
(Obama)use that as an excuse. Mitt, get back to skiing or buying art for your
mansion or whatever it is that you rich folk do!!!!
so funny 405 people polled out of how many potential voters??? LOL I love
Hilldog, wish she would have won the nod, The DNC gave the nod to Obama because
they can push him around adn they wouldnt have been able to with Hillary.
Hopefully if a democrat wins the white house and we keep control of the senate
we can get some stuff one.
The best thing about Romney being picked, is that he would make "the little
dwarf" seem even littler and older...!
What are you talking about??? (Mitt helps McCain???)I never heard
Mitt Romney whine about any such thing!!! And I even worked for him during the
Primary process!!! He was quiet for nearly a month after Super Tuesday and
when he did resurface, he came out punching FOR McCain to show the unity that we
should all have...You are blowing smoke... again!
McCain for President without Romney, otherwiseObama has my vote. The
U.S. already declared it does not want an LDS in the Government.
Just another angle to check and make sure Romney still has deity status in Utah.
If the ticket were Obama/Romney or Romney/Clinton or Romney/Mr. Ed the talking
horse it would win Utah.
I'd like to see a poll about Obama picking Harry Reid as his VP. Any chance of
don't get on the ticket mit. let huckabie rid the titanic down to the bottom.
follow the example of ronald reagan support the heck out of mc titanic keep your
positive message and win in '12
Im so sick of the advocates of Mitt Romney putting everything under the "he
share our values umbrella?" No he doesnt. Hes not that conservative people.
He was when he was trying to get the republican nod because he was flip-flopping
his butt off trying to get the conservative base. Check it out. So.....if hes
not that conservative, what would make Utahn's want to vote for
him??????mmmm....Let me think....Is he LDS? Yeah, he is....He is LDS and
politically pretty moderate. Are you really endorsing him because he "shares
To quit with the values thing: You too do not know what you are
talking about. He is not moderate, he is conservative and you are
misrepresenting again!!!! you need to read and get our more...
You mean Mitt was conservative when he was running for president right? Hes
flipped a few times on abortion, gay marriage and once assured a gallery of
people that he wasnt quite as quaint as people in a state he used to live in.
Hes either not a conservative or he takes the stance necessary to get elected.
Does he still hold the values of conservative Utahns flip flopping on everything
in sight? McCain is faking being a conservative too. America. Irregardless of
the outcome of the election, well be much better off than we are now.
to quit the values: yawn. Yes, Mitt was conservative when running
for President and for years before that. I don't know what part of growing up
and changing your mind and growth for a positive reason you don't get, but you
may want to try it. It is a great thing to grow and progress and change. Mitt
did that. You can too.Bitterness and lies are counterproductive.
Misrepresentations are dangerous. Mitt is a great servant. His
ability to be supportive in times of crisis is astounding. He know finances,
business and America. He has financially supported students and others with
great goals. He has shoveled snow for elderly, helped others bury their
children and grandchildren and dug out tree stumps for someone badly needing
help. I think we need someone of Mitt's caliber. I hope the lies and
misrepresentations can stop sometime soon so America can have a blessing that I
am not sure they deserve as a whole. Part of me would like to see
Mitt out of politics so that he won't have to be at the mercy of people like you
who say alot but not anything good or worth hearing. We need him though.
no such word as irregardless. it is regardless.
"...Tall-eagle | 3:18 a.m. June 23, 2008The best thing about Romney
being picked, is that he would make "the little dwarf" seem even littler and
older...!..."That 'little dwarf' that you mock has endured more
suffering for this nation in one week than you can even imagine. He isn't
perfect, but he has the heart of a lion.
Maybe Willard Romney could teach McCain how to be a life-long hunter! Or how to
march in civil rights marches! Or how to support/oppose gay rights and abortion!
Or how to help the economy by head-hunting companies! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee, Mitt
has so much to offer! His sons could be an example to other young people
concerning war-time service to the nation! Yes, Mitt brings quite a lot to the
ticket! What's wrong with McCain, can't he see this? Sheesh!
"..."I really dont recall thinking about political positions when I was knocking
at the door in France" as a missionary, Romney said. "I was supportive of my
country. I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing
our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was
there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam."..."Mitt
longed to be in Vietnam, but unfortunately his family didn't have the necessary
connections to pull strings that would have allowed him to serve in combat in
Vietnam. Mitt was so frustrated by this that he never joined the military that
he had so longed to serve.
"...As the Vietnam War raged in the 1960s, Mitt Romney received a deferment from
the draft as a Mormon "minister of religion" for the duration of his missionary
work in France, which lasted two and a half years. Before and after
his missionary deferment, Romney also received nearly three years of deferments
for his academic studies. When his deferments ended and he became eligible for
military service in 1970, he drew a high number in the annual lottery that
determined which young men were drafted. His high number ensured he was not
drafted into the military. The deferments for Mormon missionaries
became increasingly controversial in the late 1960s, especially in Utah, leading
the Mormon Church and the government to limit the number of church missionaries
who could put off their military service. That agreement called for each church
ward, or church district, to designate one male every six months to be exempted
from potential duty for the duration of his missionary work...."The

Romney likely don't have much in common. McCain believes in service, and walked

That doesn't change the truth in what I pointed out. I'm sick of chickenhawks
like Romney that are all about the war and continuing it and threatening it via
policy, yet never had the steel to take part in it. To include Bush, Cheney, et
al. Cowards that are all too ready to send others to their death.
How pathetic, Romney was trashed by the McCain camp for almost a year. Now they
want him on the team. Read some of the quotes from the McCain family as to
Mormons. Wake up people The GOP knows Utah and most LDS will
always be in their corner. They will toss you a scrap or two from the table,
but don't try to lead the party. The GOP is supported by big
business, Big Business wants to crush competition, No competition equals higher
prices and Higher Profits! Look at the Oil Crisis, the GOP
controlled things for years and did not get drilling going anywhere. Remember
when that sinner Clinton was President, Oil was $10 a barrel, why? Cheap oil
kept us hooked, it fostered demand. Oil was kept soft to eliminate the Popular
voice calling for alternatives. BOOM a decade later OPEC is laughing all the
way to the bank.Big Business is no friend to the populace and no
friend to Utah
We also know that the Demo way doesn't work either. Look at the last few
years the Demos have had control of the congress.DO NOTHINGS!!!

Hello Obama republican...it wasn't the repubs that kept us from drilling...it
was the radical democrat environmentalists.
