Hate to be a party pooper, but I have all those same values, and am neither a
Mormon nor believe in God.
Xscribe, tell me then if you dont believe in God, then where do you think your
headed after this life?Whats your eternal roadmap? And i mean This in
a nice way.Just a question.
I, too, subscribe to the values without the church. Sometimes I think I might be
a druid. As for my eternal roadmap, it's pretty much the same as yours. For
whatever serendipities or fortunes life has given me, or not, I'm not sure god
is micro managing my life. For all I know, god is too busy picking football
games. We're all in this together, and almost everyone who's ever lived has
suffered a much more wretched existence than I. And it's not my fortune because
of what rituals I practise or what I choose not to drink or eat. If you're a
creature of god so am I, and unconditional love is, well, without condition. So
enjoy life. It's not a test. It's not an episode of keeping up appearances. It's
a journey. We each get one.
That made zero sense.
I am so happy to read of the Nielson' amazing survival and their faith.
However, as for being "sealed" forever and married in heaven I have too
much faith in the Bible to discard what is said about marriage in the BibleMathew 22:30 says "For in the resurrection they neither marry nor
are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven." Matthew
22:23 'On that day some Sadducees came to Him and questioned Him, saying,
"Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies, having no children, His brother
as next of kin shall marry his wife, and raise up an offspring to his brother.
Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and
having no offspring left his wife to his brother so also the second, and the
third, down to the seventh. And last of all, the woman died. In the resurrection
therefore whose wife of the seven shall she be? For they all had her.But Jesus answered and said to them, ''You are mistaken, not
understanding the Scriptures, or the power of God. 30] For in the resurrection
they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.
Jesus is referring to worldly marriages that have no value in heaven, and even
mentions this:"You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures, or the
power of God."
A beautiful story like this is published, and out come the trolls. Sure, one
can espouse to values and goodness without believing in God or a church. But it
seems like such an empty way to live. "Life" is then nothing but a
chemical "accident," means nothing, and goes nowhere. Love is
pointless. Life is pointless. And yet here we are on this earth. Apparently
for no reason and to do nothing but work and pay the bills. Such a sad way to
The Nielson's story is amazing. How many of us wake up and complain about
our lives, how we look, how we'd really like not to go to work, how we are
unhappy because life doesn't seem to be going our way? When I remember what
this family has gone through and how they have dealt with things more
devastating than I have I am in awe at their stamina, faith and grace. So many
given the same circumstances would have crumbled, and understandably so.These amazing people press on and are examples to all of us religious or
