Just leave it alone Jody, and remember a player has to hit the shot off from a
pass to get an assist and Utah's players haven''t exactly done that this year!
What percentage did they shoot last night?
It seems to me that when the Jazz offense is stagnant, it's because Jefferson is
holding the ball, and holding, and holding...
I was at the game last night and Devin Harris was awesome in the first half. He
was blowing past Jason Kidd and getting wide open looks. The shots just weren't
dropping for him. Yes, he missed every shot he took, zero-for-seven. That
doesn't tell the whole story, though, which was that Harris was the only Jazz
player, imo, who came out with energy in the first quarter. He was playing hard
and taking good shots.
I think most are willing to give him a chance but at some point you have to make
a decision Watson really looks more comfortable at the point,We don`t need 3
pg`s.Maybe package Harris, miles, trade exemption and GS pick for D-will
True Hoop is reporting that the Clippers, Lakers and Jazz are negotiating a
three team deal that would send Devin harris to the Lakers, Mo Williams to the
Jazz and the trade exception from Odom along with a 2nd rd pick and cash to the
Devin should never see the floor. His defense is a complete joke and Winglish I
can blow past Jason Kidd so its not that impressive. Earl should start and play
over 30 minutes. Please Trade Devin Harris I'd rather have Kanter playing
point. I like the sound of trading Harris, Miles and GS pick for the best point
guard in the league D-will.
@Common Ground--Did you see AJ passing the ball in last night's game? I was
impressed that he was frequently making the extra pass. Often it allowed him to
get more open and get a better shot. I say we should start thinking
about trading Harris if and when we start losing consistently. I agree things
aren't always pretty, but we are winning, and he is part of this winning team.
That being said, if we were able to trade him for a better PG, I would take it.
I just don't think it is fair to assume that he is the only reason for our
Have you people already forgotten that DWill's contract expires this year? If
we got rid of him last year to keep from losing him this year, why would we turn
around and pick him up again this year???
In regards to DWill: He has made it clear that the "Utah Chapter" in
his life is over, and he would not return. I would welcome him back in a
heartbeat, but he is not going to come.
I'll Mo William back, we should've never let him go, or somehow get D-Will back,
but make sure he stays for a few more years.
I like the harris, miles, trade exception and GS pick to new jersey and bring
d-will back but only if he signs an extension to stay in Utah and not bolt after
this season. With that deal there and the team we would still have (only losing
harris and miles), jazz would be instant contenders
Jazz will not get D-Will back but the rumor about Harris to Lakers and Mo
Williams to the Jazz and the Odom trade exception to Clippers sounds
interesting. Who is reporting that possible trade?
Harris wasn't good from the beginning of the game and got worse as the game went
on, not sure what winglish was watching. I was also at the game and the offense
was stagnant whenever Harris was on the court. In fact Harris spent more
time arguing with Corbin during breaks in the action last night than John
Stockton did in his 19 years in Utah. Anytime there is that big of a disconnect
between a pg and a coach something has to change. Not one time did Earl argue
his case to the coach, and Watson was the one player on the floor during each of
the Jazz surges last night.Dump Harris, dump Miles, and keep pushing the
ball inside first and the Jazz will be ok. Their defense was solid,
everyone for the most part hustling and working hard.
Mo Williams might have seen his best days, anyway he`s a shoot first pg much like
Harris,we need a floor general,a leader
As others have said, he is part of a winning team and he plays hard. Before
doing anything drastic when this team is coming around so well, why not make him
battle with Tinsley for backup guard position. Earl Watson can lead this team
and he is a true leader. Devin might really respond to coming off of the bench
and facilitating the game of the younger players. This kid has talent and
ability, but this starting lineup does not need a "shoot first" guard
who doesn't shoot very well. A floor general who can really help Big Al and
Milsap, would be really nice right about now.
Ideally the Jazz could trade for Jose Calderon. Raptors are seeking a change up
and jazz could use a pass first guard.
Two things...The book on Dwill is closed. Second, the Jazz are not going to
trade CJ this year. They will not trade Harris either unless they can get a
better PG out of the deal and that is unlikely. The will upgrade the PG spot in
the offseason or through the draft. It's not like they are going to win a
championship this year. It is better to let Harris go at the end of the year
and not trade him. Trading him means taking on a big salary in return for more
years. In a shortened season, cash is king....
Harris and Williams career numbers are almost identical,Harris is younger and
taller,Williams seems to be seated on the bench alot in a nice suit, unless we
can really upgrade at the pg there is no point in just trading for the sake of
trading,plus mo makes a bit mo $
D-Will? The malcontent back? No thanks!
Watching Harris is like watching CJ you have moments where you think this guy is
awsome and some make you want throw the remote at the TV. However, if this guy
learns to trust the system and can still be allowed to play his style, he will
be worth keeping around. Remeber it is an abreviated season with limited
practice and presosn and it has shown with everbody during one game or another
at this point in the season besides, any deal with Harris will involve another
player on the roster and I don't think there will be a deal out there worth that
I like the 3 team trade with the Lakers and Clips....But instead of getting Mo,
Utah should find a way to get Eric Bledsoe instead...Young proven PG..He'll be
stuck behind cp3 and billups
"Hello, Kevin, this is Danny. How about Harris and Favors for Rondo and
Ray?"O'Connor: "Ha Ha Ha. That's a good one, Danny.
Best laugh I've had all day! No thanks! But call your old buddy McHale and
remind him about that championship he gave you!"
With the Jazz sitting at 9-5 after going 39-43 last year, why are people crying
about Devin Harris' stats? The team is doing well, and Watson is playing well
as the backup. Harris will find his way, he's been through 3 offenses in less
than a year. He'll adjust and find his way soon enough. And who
exactly would we get that's better in return? Stats do not tell the story in
all situations - wins and losses do. If the Jazz go 43-23 and win the division,
advance to the 2nd round or better, nobody will care about the stats.
Harris was a bad fit from the start, being a shoot first point guard. The only
reason he scored so much previously was the quantity of shots. Very few playoff
and championship games are won with this style of PG. Jason Kidd proved this
last night, playing error free, carve you up basketball. We need a low profile
general that helps the bigs succeed!
What about trading Harris plus a pick for Jose Calderon. He wants to leave
Toronto and is just slightly more expensive then Harris. Lock up Watson for a
couple of years.
I think we should go after Walker or Augustin at Charlotte, even if it would
mean giving up Milsap. You can forget ever seeing DWill at Utah, the
Boo Birds burned that bridge.
The real reason we lost the Mavericks? 5 defenders in the paint every time the
ball came inside due to our complete lack of outside shooting, a problem the
Jazz completely failed to address in the off season.
I feel for the kid hope it works out. However, to me this is on himself. He
has an erratic shot. He has the body language of someone unsure or not
confident. He takes too many shots in my opinion as a quick option. His
priority needs to be dished. I somehow wonder if he is being baited for trade.
Frankly, doubt many would be interested. If his game picks up then maybe he
becomes a good chip. As I have stated many times, if Earl Watson starts his
deficiencies start to show and he will burn out. He is an energy, valuable team
member. He cannot start every night for this team. Tinsley likely would be
more productive in the long run
The way Mo is playing tonight 5-5 12 points he is not leaving the Clippers. I
would take him over Devon in a hardbeat because at least he is not short on his
Tyrone should not have had Devin in the game in the last 3 minutes. This article has a lot of Raja talking and telling how things should be.
Seems to me he needs to do more talking on the court. His game was also lame
against the Mavs.CJ seems to be making some necessary changes in his
game. I would not be surprised if teams came calling for him and ended up
having to take Harris as well. KOC is good at getting what he wants, hopefully
he wants another pg early enough in the season to be useful to the team.
I agree with CJ... No way they get rid of Harris unless it's a great deal. Would
anybody reject a trade for Rubio? I hope the Jazz pull the trigger on that one
if we can make it happen.
Some of the comments are pretty comical here...Jason Kidd playing error free
basketball carving us up down the stretch. Actually he had 2 crucial turnovers
in the final 3 minutes that gave us opportunities to almost come back and win
the game. Some wingnut was talking about the 2nd round of the
playoffs this year? Wow, I am not sure what planet you operate from but this
team will be lucky to make the playoffs. They are much improved but nonetheless
will be lucky to make the playoffs.I don't have a problem with
Harris' shot selection. My problem is that he can't make one. His shooting %
has been horrific from day one this season. It clearly shows no signs of
improvement.Laughable Bell is dishing out advice...when he can't
follow it himself to improve much.Harris, Bell, and CJ are all
headcases this season. CJ has improved his consistency in the last few games
but don't talk about it or his ego will swell and he will return to his 3 point
jacking defenseless ways. The Mavericks packed the paint and we shot
a lousy %....and we still were in the game. I think we can take some solace in
that. All that said you can't ignore the glaring deficiency at
starting PG. He doesn't get assists and he can't score and his defense is
average at best. That trade exception could become very valuable.
@ Less is MoreYou call 6 turnovers error-free basketball? Heck,
even Devin Harris outplayed Jason Kidd. I'd say Jose Calderon or Mo Williams
would be our best bet through trade.
Jazz Source repeated exactly what I wrote earlier. Devin Harris' shot selection
in the Dallas game was impeccable. He found wide open shots for himself. He
then missed them all. His floor game was really quite good. It was his shooting
that was terrible. We all know that the Jazz are desperate for a knock-down
shooter. To those clamouring for Earl Watson to assume the starting
point guard role- You do realize that Earl is shooting 16.7% from behind the
three point arc this season, right? He's an awesome spark plug who pushes the
ball and provides energy. He is not starting PG material in the NBA because his
outside shooting just isn't any good. Watson would have been the better choice
to finish against Dallas because he had the hot hand. The truth is
that both of these point guards are awesome at pushing the fast break, but weak
at running the half-court flex offense. The flex depends on a reliable
inside-out game between the big men and the guards.
We`d have a better chance of getting Williams back that prying Rubio away from
the wolves, that kid is amazing,scores/rebounds/assists,cross between pistol pete
and rajon rando, toss in a bit of Magic..
Mo is a shoot first guard. Utah let him go last time because he is a tweener
just like Harris. Jefferson is Utah's biggest problem. His rotational defense is
lacking, and he gives up as many layups and put backs, as points he makes. He
should not be on the floor with the undersized Millsap, unless Sap is playing
the three, and Favors or Kanter can protest the basket. I think Utah will deal
Harris around the trade deadline. If they do that then they keep Tinsley and his
contract becomes guaranteed. If they don't deal Harris then Tinsley will be let
go before they are stuck with his contract. Burks can play the point, but I'm
not sure he is NBA ready. (If you are talking about trying to make the
playoffs). I'm sure there are some blue collar point guards floating around.
Look what we let go with Gaines. I'd rather see him back than Mo.
the trade that made sense that was mentioned was the trade for Eric Bledsoe...i
think he will shine here in Utah...and its the deal that would make sense for
all involved...probably...we get bledsoe...and the exception from Lakers?...i
dont know what or who the clippers would get from the lakers....if not...we
could get Goran Dragic...captain kirk?
