NCAA president supports 4-team football playoff

    "Moving toward a 16-team playoff is highly problematic because...
    I think that's too much to ask a young man's body to do.
    It's too many games, it intrudes into the school year
    and, of course, it would probably necessitate a complete end to the bowl system that so many people like now."

    The 1AA/FCS schools, as well as others, have been holding a 16 FB Tournament.
    Has it been "too much" for them?
    Has it been "too many games" for them?

    And then we find the real reason for the stone-walling...

    "The Bowl System".

    All three explanations/excuses are without merit.

    A 16 team format would require an additional 4 games for the Champion and runner-up, 3 additional games for the final-four round, 2 additional games for the elite eight next 1 additional game for each of the first round losers.

    Out of 120 FBS schools only 8 teams would be involved in a season longer than the current 13 games for bowl participants.

    All playoff games would be meaningful (What a concept!)

    There is a way to make a meaningful 16 team playoff happen...

    there is simply no will.
