JJ would have a 1,000 yard rushing year if given enough carries.

I'm hoping for a 100 yard rushing day from JJ. If that happens, Cougars win for sure.

    Go Cougars!!!!

John White IV also has 50 carries per game.

Also I hope Mckay Jacobsen can use his speed and catch some deep passes. This is his last game too.

    Go Cougs!

The article is about BYU football. Why the obsession?

JJ can and will carry a bunch in this game. BYU needs to control the tempo and with long scoring drives which includes the run will be able to do so. BYU's defense will be better than most schools that Tulsa has played. Good running game makes the passing game all the more significant.

    Go Cougars.

I just hope he will hold on to the football. He has to be near holding the record for fumbles from a BYU running back.

So what you are saying is that JJ wasn't ready to step up before now?

What does John White have to do with this article?

"But, but, look at us! Please, someone care about our team!"

White averaged 3.2 yards per carry
DiLuigi averaged 3.3 yards per carry

The difference was that BYU atually has 4 D1 running backs where Utah has 1 1/2

Robert Turbin at USU had more yards than White on 62 fewer carries this season and he split time with two other very good running backs.
If he had gotten the number of carries that White did, he would have gotten close to 2,000 yds.

DiLuigi would have gotten about 50 yards more than White with the same number of carries.

White is a good running back but the fact remains that he got the bulk of his yards against very weak teams.

"White is a good running back but the fact remains that he got the bulk of his yards against very weak teams."

The 4 "D1" RB's at the Y as you call them, did nothing against Utah or Texas. So the fact remains all of the yards, TD's, etc for Y RB's came against the weakest teams in the country.

Are backs our way better than anyone else's. JJ would have a bunch of yards if he played anywhere else.

    2BSwins;
The point is that although White is a solid running back, any of your obsessions RB's would likely have done as well or better had they been the only RB at Utah or if they had the same number of carries at their schools. Although White was by far, the best(just about only) RB at Utah, he is not even the best D1 RB in the state of Utah.

I hate to disagree with you, but we didn't play Colorado or Washington State...

But we DID play Oregon State (there), same as you (@ RES). And I already demonstrated previously that in that one, apples to apples comparison, our four were nearly identical to your one.

A u fan pointed out that JW4 broke the longest run (60 yards I believe) which I must humbly acknowlege. However, that just means that otherwise, his yards per carry were actually less.

Thank you for your reason and points Y Grad/ Y Dad.

Though I have not looked up the stats, I would be interested to see how JJ's Receptions yards and catches compares to Mr. Whites.

No Disrespect to the Utah RB, But I'd be surprised if his Yards Per Catch ave. is better than JJ's.

    Go Cougars!!!!!

So Jenny 83, what is your point? JJ is playing in this game, John White is not. If I am interested in John White stats,I will visit Utah Utes websites and links. When one visits Utes websites/links, you'll find only a handful of comments from their fans. However, when one visits BYU websites/links you find many Utes fans commenting - mostly negative. What a sad lot!

    @ Jenny83

    Utah total offense: 3704

    BYU total offense: 4930

The point being is that BYU doesn't have a great offense either! Don't kid yourself. Utah's defense won the games this year. We all saw what happened when the ONE offensive weapon Utah had left the game. Utah lost to COLORADO and gave them their 3rd win of the season.

No disrespect intended towards JJ, but he cannot fill the void left by Alisa in this game. JJ's great on the edges, and at the slot; but running JJ between the tackles is a wasted play. Kariya and Quezada will need to pick up the slack.

    Re: CougFaninTX

JJ has success between the vtackles at times, but I agree BK and Juice should be used more. I don't know why coaches don't use them more.

I expect JJ to have the game of his life.

    Go Cougs!

    Pagan,

Misdirect, obfuscate, and deny. That seems to be your play book for all your comments, at least those comments where you aren't just posting articles from other sources.

    Nice try.

The fact of the matter is that business friendly Utah has been able to mitigate the damage caused by BHO better than just about any other state.

California, a leftist mecca, is hemoraging business's to friendlier states for the last few years and with the re-election of gov. Moonbeam that trend will continue or accelerate.

Personally I see that as a good thing for Utah.

Maybe you meant "Our" instead of "Are" right?

JJ will be just fine in this game, White on the other hand will be facing 10 in the box all day. Even with 50 carries he won't beat Ga-Tech. Enjoy El Paso.

JJ is solid, with great hands. An excellent recieving back.

BUT this game will depend on if Tulsa can pressure Nelson to make mistakes. If not, the Golden Hurricane are doomed anyway.

    ===
Since it's been discussed ad nauseum, I'll add my two measely cents:

One thing you true cougar fans should remember about John White IV, is that teams regularly stacked the box against him, knew he would get the ball, yet he still had 100+ yards a game.

You'll get your wish that JJ will get more carries, and we'll see. But I'd be surprised to see him have 100+, even though Tulsa will not stack the box.

It's delusional to make the giant step of "yards per carry" of one individual, multiply it by the number of carries of another, and say the lesser carrier would therefore have an equal number or more yards. It is not reasonable to say that Foote, averaging 11 yds/carry, would be able to continue that over 200 carries. Otherwise, he'd get the ball EVERY play.

Reggie Dunn averages 10.5 yards a game.

Sean Sellwood has a passer rating of 542.2.

But I agree that Turbin is awesome.

    Go Cougs.

err, Dunn averages 10.5 yards per carry.
