Congratulations to Orem. Frustrating game to watch as a LP fan. LP looked out of gas. Emery had a poor shooting night. But, It's only early in the season.

Let's start a new streak tomorrow. Orem has a great team.

I wish Eric could play. Makes me angry.

Yay for Orem! Maybe they could teach the Utes a thing or two about basketball...

I guess we found out which league is better today, 4a or 5a... 5a always gets a lot of ink but 4a always gets results.

    Go Tigers!

A week ago people were asking why Orem was even in the tournament . . . guess we know why now!! Great job Orem! Lone Peak isn't as invincible as people would like to think!

What a great job for Orem! Both Lone Peak and Orem will benefit from this game.

Utah high school basketball has come a long way!

Great game! A perfect storm on both sides for Orem to pull off the upset. They have a great team but mini BYU and little Jimmer were off a bit last night. Thanks to Deseret News for streaming the game so I could watch it way out here in South Carolina.

I've seen all 8 games (I should get a life...), and the basketball being played is fantastic. I think the Mountain View vs. Lone Peak game (if that's how they set it up) will be entertaining. WJ vs Orem will be fun to watch as well.

Though not one to be negative, I was not impressed with Emery's post-game expression of frustration with the loss. Tough loss, for sure, but no one stole the game from LP. I'm sure his minor injury didn't help their cause. They sure have a fine team.

@ Real Maverick......before you get too fired up abour 4A, you might want to wait until after todays game against WJ. Having watched multiple games of AF, WJ and LP this year, WJ is the best of the 5A group, at least in the early going. Orem played great and deserved the victory last night but we'll see if they can do it two days in a row. WJ is big, tough inside, can shoot the 3 and playing on Orem's home court won't bother that senior group. Should be an awesome game.

The Utah teams are dominating some of the best teams from Idaho, Arizona and Colorado.

Orem was on tonight. They are an up and coming powerhouse both in basketball and football. Congrats to the boys. LP will win the 5A and Orem the 4A.

When the first rankings came out I said Orem would be number 1 in 4A in a couple weeks. And this game made me right.

Don't everyone bail out on Lone Peak yet; last year they lost their third game to a team everyone expected them to destroy. After that they went on to win 24 straight and take state. They always learn from their losses. Quincy is an incredible coach.

Lone Peak has always thought they were so high and mighty!

Way to feed them the crow, Orem Tigers!

Congrats to Coach Holt, he's a good guy and excellent coach and has really worked magic with Orem.
Anything can happen in basketball and I still think Lone Peak will be the team to beat in 5A. I imagine Orem will also be the odds on favorite in 4A but it's a long season.
Good tourney all the way around, glad to see such good ball being played in the state.

"Little Jimmer's" shot selection was detrimental to LP. Haws' technical was a turning point in the game also. They should have put the ball in the calm player's hands. Good luck Orem tonight! It will be another tough one.

Don't know how this is a "stunning" upset, when the #1 ranked 4A team beats the #1 ranked 5A team by 6 points. Happens all the time, in this state and others. Move along...

@ skeptical critic.....good point, since it was on Orem's home floor, the stunning upset would have been had it been on LP's home floor or in a state tournament game at a neutral site.

hmmmmmmmmmm its been awhile since ive been on here. Emery looks like hes still a freshman with all those shot selections. He really needs to be calm and take control of the game, Hawsy looked good, still young give him time as well. The tech was unreal tho! We need some calm ppl on the court in pressure situations. SHERLOCK!

If by "A perfect storm on both sides for Orem to pull off the upset." you meant frequent, selfish poor shot selection by Emery and tenacious defense, hustle and team basketball by Orem, then yes, I guess you could call it that. :)
