This team has a lot of upsides.......lots and lots of youth. It will be
interesting to watch their progress.
It was fun to see Davies and Nate in at the same time that could be a tuff team
to score on in the paint. Rogers is doing great off the bench and this team
seams to be improving every game. Last year was fun to watch but this year it
looks like a much more balanced approach with Noah and Abouo leading the way.
Talk about Mana from heaven...what a gift we have in Austin...and what a
surprise...last years team got me excited about BYU basketball again and this
years team has me counting down the minutes to the next game.I just
can not wait until we play Gonzaga...this as well as St. Marys will be a
contest. The PAC 12 basketball will not take a back seat to the WCC
basketball because they will not even be allowed in the building having
seats...Long ugly year for PAC12...with no BC involvement, the WCC will put more
in the Tourney than the great PAC12 lead by power house Utah.
190 pounds?? Austin is quite a bit bigger than that. He'll start showing up on
scouting reports now, but what a great relief to have him come in and give some
great minutes. It's looking doubtful that Collinsworth will be the player we
thought he would, which might be good because Austin is making the most of his
Nate Austin 4 President. No, but seriously, the kid can play and its
going to get harder and harder for Dave Rose to keep him off the floor. Nate is
a playmaker on both ends of the court and his cintributions are making a
difference on the score board. Also, can Stephen Rogers' shot be any
more silky smooth? Noah is becoming a leader on the floor and its
great to see him step up.Nine days until we see what Matt Carlino
can do. This team has a chance to be very, very good.No matter what
happens at the HC this year I doubt it will top the "Jimmer Show" from
last year. That was fun. Cant wait to head on up to the HC again on Saturday.
I really wish I could go to the game at the hc on Saturday but we are taking our
family to the Ronald McDonald House to perform some Christmas service, and
really looking forward to it I might add, that day. I'm gonna have to watch a
replay of the game if BYUtv can show one since it is at utah's home.
Hiring of Coach Pope=Better play from the bigs.
Mr Harmon, you're looking good on tv, got to watch the game. a funny and
accurate write about about Austin. He's going to be a great player. The whole
team this year is fun to watch and i am excited about the prospects. I really
enjoyed the game. i look forward to your expertise on the cougars.
Austin is looking great. The kid can shoot and is mobile for a big. Can't wait
to see him develop along with Winder, Harrision, and Carlino. The future looks
bright. I miss Jimmer but I love the style of play this year. If the point can
just push the pace a little more, the cougs will be even more exciting to watch.
Dear Dick Harmon,This may be the one of the best written articles of
yours that I've read. Enjoyed every word.Nate Austin is an animal.
We all wanted to watch every game last year to see what ridiculous shot Jimmer
was going to make. I find myself just as invested to see Hartsock's surprising
aggressiveness. There are so many players on our team that give energy and
excitement.Austin brings more than what shows up on a stat sheet.
Altered shots, body-banging, scrappiness, and the energy of a Red Bull
addict.I love re-watching the games on BYUTV. Go
Nate Austin for the Heisman! Opps, wrong sport! But if he did play football, he
would win it!
Kudos to Nate & the entire team. Great to see so many players involved and
helping the squad. Looking ahead, we should be able to handle the Utes. But you
know, anything can happen in a rivalry game. The next big test will be Baylor
Bears. This should be an exciting game to watch, esp. to see how our bigs match
up against theirs. Go Cougs!!
Watch Nate's youtube.com interview with Jarrom Jordan, and he comes across as a
young man uncomfortable in a one-on-one conversation. But put him on the floor,
and let his grace and his accurate jump shot do his talking, and he becomes an
amazing player.I have been watching BYU basketball since the days of
Danny Ainge, and I have never seen a player with the grit and guile that Austin
exudes from every pore. His 3-point shots are smooth and soft, and he gets to
the basket and scores all the while he getting hacked and whacked the whole way
in.Austin could become a stellar defender and shot blocker all the
while giving the team long-range jumpers that actually go in. If he starts
playing regularly, you're looking at a guy who will average 15 points, 8
rebounts and 4 block shots a game. A Russell Larsen talent with Nate
Austin Grit. Gotta love it.
