Home, sweet home! BYU would have beaten USU at home, just as Weber did. I look
for BYU to show they are the best in the state in this game.
The Cougs seem to have a good team this year, but not great (yet). They are
better than I expected for as young as they are and having to replace two of the
best guards to ever play BYU basketball. Regular season wins will likely be 22
- 24. Our ability to win games against other good teams like Weber
St, St Marys and Santa Clara will be tested. I think the singular
key to improving our prospects is the play of Brandon Davies. Especially now
that we know Collinsworth will not be back until late in the season, if at all,
we need to get 30 minutes of solid play from Davies in these matchups. He needs
to stay out of foul trouble. He needs to score 15+ points per game and average
close to double digit rebounds. He's had some outstanding performances this
year, but he has not been consistent. If we get wins against Weber State, and
other key matchups, it will be because of the play of Davies.
Overconfidence that your team "are the best in the state in this game"
can be a dangerous thing...be carefull with that kind of "mark it
down" talk. Weber State is very good. Without Bullinger, the Wildcats may
not win. But then again, overconfidence by the Cougars is certainly not smart.
I wonder who Roger Reid will root for?
BYU's strength and identity so far this year is defense. I think they're still
trying to find a personality for their offense. No go-to scorer as yet, although
Hartsock is steady game-to-game.So, to me, the key to tonight's game
is how well they defend Lillard. But, with one of their bigs down, Weber State
might have a tough time defending BYU's bigs, especially if Austin gets playing
time and performs as well as he has. This'll be a fun game to watch.
Wish it was in HD on my satellite.
@Weber State Graduate There is no doubt Weber State has a great team this
year. My opinion is that USU, WSU, and BYU are comparable this year - any one
of them is capable of beating the other on any given night.Against
WSU, BYU probably has the front court edge. Weber State probably has an edge in
the back court. No overconfidence here. It should be a great game.
@WhatsInItForMeIf you have antenna and your built in hdtv tuner, you
can get HD directly to your tv. Don't use Satalite for BYUtv, from antenna which
is on channel 11-3 which ever it is.Austin was great on his last
game and I am sure Dave Rose will insert him depending how the game goes.
Weber sounds like they have a solid team. Hopefully BYU can play a good game
and limit Lillard. The DVR is set and ready to go. I love BYUtv. I guess I
can always watch on my phone as well.
Davies has been very inconsistent in his ability to finish from 4-6'. He needs
to man up and get more of a killer instinct from that position with the ball in
his hands. At least draw the foul, and then MAKE the free throw.I'd
like to see Rogers playing a few more minutes - that guy can flat out score from
the outside.BYU - 84Weber - 76
Go Weber!!!!!!Battle that 5 on 8 matchup anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is BYUTV out of date? It is not HD. Oh well, still better than
weberwildcatThere are standard and HD signals for BYUtv - 647 for HD
Best Case Scenario for Weber State: win by 1-5, with Lillard scoring 20-30
points and Bamforth scoring 15-25 pointsWorst Case Scenario for
Weber State: Lose by 5-10 pts, with Lillard still scoring 20-30 points but
Bamforth only scoring less than 10 pointsBamforth needs to step it
up and stop being inconsistent!!! Its driving Weber State fans crazy!!! Lillard
can't do it alone!
regular digital TV without cable and satelite, it is in HD
Really like being able to watch the Cougs play on TV. Happy the school didn't
give in to the Big East and Big 12.
Marriott Center is a tough place to play. Most PAC-12 teams won't agree to play
there. Weber St will need to bring their "A" game to steal one
there...but it is possible. Should be a great game if BYU shows up.
@weberwildcatI see you have your excuses already in place after the
loss. LOL! Just like "wildcat' tried to tell us last week that if weber
loses it will be because of the refs. Pathetic.@weber state
graduateAnd Collinsworth is out for BYU, sounds like a wash to me.
Are you just preparing excuses like your fellow "weberwildcat"? Also I
didn't see anything claiming the BYU players are overconfident, did you?
Overconfidence by fans has no bearing at all on the outcome of a game. But based
on the postings from you, weber wildcat, and wildcat last week it would seem
that overconfidence, or confidence of any kind, isn't the problem for weber
fans. You all seem to be coming up with excuses for the loss before the game is
Oh my buddy Duckhunter posted, the fan who thought Prairie View and Longwood
were tournament games even though they were a week apart (he must be a very
dedicated fan). LOL to quote him.As a fan, I have seen games at the
Marriot Center. I know how the calls go in critical moments of the game.
Basketball is like this in general, but nothing compares to the happy valley of
BYU. Also, when you are in a smaller conference like Weber State, the refs tend
to "scoreboard" officiate even more. I said that I was
60/40 sure of a victory last week since it was at the Marriot, but since
Bullinger (best rebounder) went down, it is a 50/50 or 40/60 chance now.The Cats will need a big game from Bamforth and need Otis and Mahoney to
step up the "D". They will need to run to minimize the height
advantage. I think it will be a competitive game and the Wildcats still have
one of their best chances to escape Utah County with a win.I bet
Ducky can't even name two players on the BYU team. Quack on buddy.
There is only one Jimmer.
Uh wildcat, you are still making a fool of yourself over the Longwood and
Prairie View assertion. They were tournament games and since the Dnews doesn't
allow links why don't you just google it up and see for yourself. Oh that's
right, you aren't going to do that because you know it's true already. But let's go ahead and list the participants in the Chicago Invitational
Challenge this year.LongwoodPrairie View A&MWoffordBYUUMKCNevadaWisconsinBradleyThe early round games were played on the home courts of the larger particpants
like BYU and Wisconsin then the tournament shifted to Chicago for the final
weekend. But now you are making even more excuses, the refs,
sls, how can byu be the best in the state when they lost to utah
state? if the y had won that game you might be able to build a case, but they
didn't win and it really wasn't that close
So far so great in Provo... To be expected by anyone with a brain and that has
watched more than 20 seconds of any of the past 3 games.
Lillard looks like he's pretty good, but I'd agree that there's only one Jimmer
A tip of my hat to Ducky,I did look it up. Usually tournaments are
played in consecutive days at a netural or host court, but this Invitational
allowed for Wisconsin and some other teams to host the lower teams for the first
two rounds two to three days apart--which is why BYU jumped all over the chance
I am sure.I can admit when I am wrong. Unlike the BYU fans who will
tell you football independence is better than being in the Big 12 or Big East.
It's charming individuals like yourself Ducky that make me hold BYU and the LDS
religion in such high esteem. Have a blessed day. Your buddy, Wildcat.
I'll bet you u-90 that USU BYU rematch would show a much different outcome....
Same venue is fine... Truth is that at the end of the season we will all know
that what Cougar fans are saying tonight is still true then... Best team in the
state end of discussion.
Fans represent neither the institution they root for or the religion they claim
to participate in.... They represent only themselves... So, for you to base how
you revere either BYU or the LDS religion on how fans act is simply absurd and
speaks less of your character than anything!
Looks like BYU may be just a teeny bit better than a lot of folks thought...
Yawn. This game is boring. I was excited to see this good Wildcat team that
was supposed to give the Cougars all they could handle; and some guy named
Lillard that is supposed to be the second coming of Jimmer.11 points
with 4 and a half to go. There's your star.
BYU lost to USU by 7 in Logan.USU lost to WSU by 10 in Ogden.BYU is
destroying WSU in Provo.Yeah, I'm gonna say it. BYU is the best
team in the state right now.
Next Saturday when Baylor rolls into town will be the real test... Not any of
the teams mentioned above... They are all destroyable yawnfests as was PROVEN
this night in Provo..... The date on the hill will be a walk in the park
blindfolded and the Cougs will sit 8-2 waiting for Baylor to come into town....
Sure, the WCC games might be a test on the road.... But not at home and perhaps
not with this team.... Beat Baylor and 28-2 is a real possibility
It looks like it might be Marriott Center II up on the hill again this year.
Better start Runnin' Utes, the Cougars are coming!
94-66 yer final... Real test WSU... Real test.... NEXT!
"Cougars will have hands full with Lillard, Wildcats..."or
not!Frankly, I was expecting this to be a much closer game and for
Lillard to be a whole lot better.
Well wildcat I'll give you credit for checking the facts and acknowledging them.
Now all I want to know is if you think the refs were really a factor in the game
Appears it was a handful of blocks!
Duckhunter,I was doing some Christmas errands, so I had to listen to
the first half on radio in the car. I heard the technical foul on Bamforth was
ticky-tacky, but I didn't see it. Regardless, Weber State flat out got beat--so
no it was not a factor. I was kind of disappointed in their second half. They
just gave up and went through the motions.I said before the game
that I thought the height advantage would be a big problem for Weber State--they
really haven't had an inside game since Harold Arceneaux. The only check on
BYU's height was Bullinger, and when he went down against San Jose State I knew
they were in trouble. They needed to play up tempo and have a good shooting
night--they did neither.I think it shows that USU, WSU, and BYU all
have great home floor advantages, and clearly right now, BYU is the best team in
state. Weber State will need to strengthen their inside game. If they can't
keep their opponent's defense honest, the opponents will play the perimeter and
shut down the guard play.Hopefully, this spurs Weber State to do
