Congratulations to all the all-state players. Thanks for a great season. I'm
glad to see they gave the MVP to a Manti lineman. I feel that their line was
the major reason they won the title. It wasn't the size of their school, it was
the size of their line.I know some Manti people will take exception to
this, but it would have been fun to see what Pancho and Jesse of Millard would
have done with their line blocking for them. I mean no disrespect to the Manti
RB's. I know they had some good running backs, but look at the numbers those
two put up behind a much smaller line.Once again, thanks for a great
season and congratulations.
I am a little surprised that South Summit only nominated a lineman that played
1/2 of the season. There were 10-15 others that had a major impact that werent
First off congrats to all boys who suited up and gave it your all this season.
Secondly congratulations to all of you who made the All-State team.
I hear you greenandwhite, the same thing happened on the north side. 2 or 3
games were missed, and at least one of those was a key game. And like SS, we
also had others that made a huge impact. There was an obvious leader in
offense, and a couple on defense who did phenominal jobs as well. I don't know
how they gage the defensive side of things when they're choosing all state
teams, as some positions always get more tackles than other positions, and some
you need to be the fast and stronger one, but don't generally get the
opportunity to get as many tackles. But the biggest thing is if you're not
playing the games, you cant contribute. I don't how you can be considered for
all state. I think most of the selections are all about who the coaches want,
and who they recommend to other coaches. Good job to all the football players
who suited up, and practiced and played hard. You all deserved an award for
re:purpleandgold. You are right in commendating all players who suited up and
played. It was a great season for 2A through out the state (especially in the
North!). The clear cut pre -season favorites were not the ones who finished at
the end. It made the whole season fun. The boys from both sides of Summit went
farther and were better than anyone here expected them to be. I do know that up
here, there was a lot of repercussion from the past off-season, and I can see
that there was definately some payback through some kids. It is important that
we keep positive, and make sure that these kids have a good experience.
Sometimes it is hard to do that when you get adults playing head games, at the
same time kids are playing ball games!
Boys of Fall. No exception or offense taken. It would be fun to see that as
well. Even more fun maybe have the 2A all state play the 3A all state team for
fun. Name a coach of the year and let him coach the game. It could be a lot of
fun to see kids from other schools come together and get to know each other as
great kids from all over!
