Well, they're not Jimmer v2.Inconsistent scoring will continue until
the team has gelled. The pieces are all there, as evidenced in playing the 11th
ranked team well at times, but the inexperience and youthfulness of this BYU
team showed in the defensive and offensive lapses. So, it's
encouraging that they might yet make some noise by season's end.
It's a new team with inexperienced talent in the back court and a premiere
coach. Give them some time to develop.
I like this team. Davis needs to play smarter defense so he can stay on the
floor -- and he has to cure a bad case of "happy feet" and impatience
when he gets the ball.Hartsock has been the undisputed leader of
this group. Abouo can be off or on in his shooting but is a great physical
presence on defense. I was hoping Collinsworth would have gotten healthy.
Perhaps he well some day, but he's not healthy now. I wish him well.Anson Winder was always in the back of my mind as the next Cougar point guard.
I like his play a lot. Carlino is an unknown to me, but the Baylor game should
tell a lot.In the meantime, I see Northern Arizona and Weber State
as tough battles for the Cougars. Weber State thinks they are the top hoops
team in the state and will come in to the Marriott Center a bit chippy. Lillard
just scored 36 points in a game against the Gaels, and the Weber State guards
will be a challenge for the Cougars to defend. I think Lillard is just too
quick for Charles.Looking forward to the remainder of the season.
