Good article and very telling as to BYU success and failure this year. It
appears that Doman is getting a little better in his late freshman year. They
actually throw on first down a couple of times a game now. Did anyone
notice Idaho lost in overtime to Utah State? BYU might be something next year if
the coaches will turn the keys over to Heaps and let the gamer Riley be the
Thanks for highlighting the quality of players. They are a credit to collegiate
PaulCalm your self for a moment remember these last few games have
been against, well lets just say the talent has been scrappy, yeah that is fair.
Basically the WAC did the Cougars a solid by scheduling games for the quickly
assembled independent season. So kudos WAC thanks. However, for shear
excitement, raw energy, electric hard play its Riley all day long, all day long.
Good article here by Harmon pointing to the future with talent for several years
to come. Congrats to the Seniors that played their last at LES. Not to look
too far forward, Cougars have 2 games left. One in Hawaii, a good team and a
great place to play and then to the bowl game. Next year has some excitement to
look forward to. Go Cougars.
Dick, surprised no mention of Riley Nelson. He is after all an underclassmen.
Perhaps if he had a publicist or held a news conference he would have garnered
your respect. Heaps does have better throwing skills, but for leadership,
excitement and a willingness to mix it up, Riley clearly has contributed to
BYU's success. After all there's more to being a good quarterback than just
passing statistics.Go Utes!
@yourstrulyBYU getting better has nothing to do with anyone at BYU
getting better - it has everything to do with the schedule getting much worse.
After getting pounded by some good teams early in the season, the fact that
they've moved on to playing high schools has made them look good. Nothing more,
nothing less. Play Utah again and BYU would still lose by 50.
true...Utes are beating bottom dwellers in one of the best conferences while BYU
is beating bottom dwellers in the worst conference..(wac0
Too bad statistics are not kept for offensive lineman so that a player like Matt
Reynolds can get due recognition for his role in leading the offensive line,
which is the backbone of the entire offense. I do agree, however, that the team
MVP for 2011 should be Kyle Van Noy, who will play in the NFL if he stays
Jake looked brilliant against both Idaho and New Mexico. Perhaps this is because
the competition was not of the same caliber. More than likely it is because of
growth on the part of our rookie offensive coordinator, Jake, and the rest of
the Cougars.Riley was certainly a major spark. He is exciting to
watch. He inspires the other players. He deserves a great deal of credit for
the success of the Cougars. I believe that Riley should start when
he is healthy.Jake should redshirt.Lark should be the backup next
year.Riley is a winner and Lark is good. This will allow both Riley
and Lark to develop. When Jake comes back Lark will already have some experience
and would be a major help should Jake get injured.Sports and BYU
should be about helping people reach their potentials. This is a win-win-win
Dear Brave Sir Robbin;True the last couple of teams BYU played were
cup-cakes.You have no way of knowing if BYU vs Utah would result in a 50
point win for Utah or the other way around. Utah won big because BYU had seven
turnovers and played terribly on both sides of the line of scrimmage. The Utes
have had their own troubles this season. I was glad to see them finally get a
couple of good wins (in-spite of the fact that they embarrassed my Cougs). The Cougars have taken good care of the ball of late. I think that a
rematch would have a very different result.Until said rematch;
please keep your trash talk to yourself, it is unbecoming.
Classy, classy move by Van Noy to wear Pendleton's jersey. Nice article on some
great young men.
