Not 3 Down 1 to go anymore !!! 4 Down and STATE CHAMPS !!!!! The Hurricane
Tiger football team this year was fun to watch...they definitely played well as
a team and won as a team ...it was not a one man show... the talent showed this
year all the way to the end with an undefeated season and many talented
playmakers !!! They should be proud of what they accomplished together !!!
Congrats to the team and to the coaches !!!! HURRICANE 21 DESERT HILLS 0 ...
NUFF SAID !!!
Way to go Hurricane! With Thompson, Edwards and Prince all returning, why not
get another one next year? Go Tigers!
Congrats to Coach Homer and Tigers ... what a great day for a great community!
Thankyou Tigers for getting it done. This will be remembered for many generations
to come. Congrats!!! It must be the greatest feeling in the world.
Congratulations to a classy Coach, Team and Community! 4th time was definitely
a CHARM!It seems that the Tigers don't "rebuild" but
rather "reload"! With many Juniors coming back, they seem to again be
in the drivers seat for yet another return trip to RES and a return date with
destiny... For those who will disagree - refer to the past four years for
evidence...This Coach/Team/Community proved they are truly Champions
by not giving up when they were put to the test the past three years...and kept
coming back until they got what they came for - a 3A State Championship!Congratulations to the Desert Hills Thunder Coach/Team/Community for not
giving up all season long and proving that they are a force to be reckoned with
in the future...Though I will still look forward to next season and
a possible H-Town/JD final match-up...yet another one for the ages...BTW - this is the first time in UHSAA history that the 3A, 4A & 5A
Champions in Football are "undefeated" - AMAZING!!
Great Job Tigers! I can't wait to see that State Champion trophy displayed at
HHS. It has been a long time coming. I think this team really showed a lot of
heart and character this year. MVP goes to Brian Scott. Great Year and amazing
job in the Championship game playing through an injury. The D played great
especially Edwards and Prince. Yardley and Thompson ran great and kept the
sticks moving.Too bad for both teams the game was played in a snow storm.
Would have been ten times more exciting in So Utah.I had fun chatting with
all of you fellow board followers and look forward to starting up again next
Thank you to all of the Hurricane faithful who made the trip to SLC and
supported our team! You are the best!Congratulations to
Hurricane--2011 State Campions!
Way to step up the big D and leave them with a goose-egg. Everybody knew it was
going to snow and the pass game is hard to use in it. Congrats to all the
players on both teams, what a fun time it was up there. It is nice to have
undefeated teams in all the title games taking home the crown. Now lets enjoy
this 60 degree weather down here. I love the how they kept saying that the
southern teams are not use to the weather, tell me what other team played in the
snow this year ha ha.
Very happy for coach, his staff & players and HHS. You will never forget a
state champion team, ever. No feeling in sport like winning a state
championship. Enjoy the moment fellas, well done.
See what happens when you don't get the chance to eliminate Morgan in the
playoffs!?!? Good job Hurricane, you guys really deserved that win!!!
Congratulations to the Hurricane Tigers! They are really a class act. I've
been watching you guys play for several years now and you deserve everything you
get. Great team effort. Brian Scott is awesome. Taylor Parker has been a
fantastic leader and outstanding safety. My son has been to several
football/basketball camps with Taylor and says he is everything people say about
him.. Outstanding!. Couldn't have happened to a better group
Congratulations to the Hurricane Tigers! what a great team victory. Brian
scott is awesome. Taylor Parker is a fantastic leader qb/safety. my son has
gone to football/basketball camps with taylor and says he is everything they
say...a great kid. good job Hurricane
I have to say this @southpride "Defense Wins Championships"Congrats Tigers I had so much fun sitting through the blizzard and watching
history in the making. Thanks to the coaches, staff, and players for an amazing
Good on ya Hurricane. Congratulations Coach Homer.
Congrats Tigers!!Great year !!
Too bad dhhs seniors on offense didn't show up. Defense did their job. It is
hard to stop hurricane again and again when you are on the field the entire 2nd
half. Congrats to HHS. Snow storm was unbelievable and a memory maker for
DH had some great chances in the first half but couldn't take advantage, the
offense has been the weak spot for DH all year.Congrats to Hurricane for kicking
the door down,I think they will be there for a few more years.
SunshineIt's obvious your a parent of a junior. Probably the one the coach
had to tell to shut up during the game. Classless. Good luck next year with your
senior, you'll need it.
After the "hail Mary" loss, I asked Coach Homer about a week later if
the sun had come up yet. His reply--"Not yet". I think the sun came
up pretty early last night. Great win and season. First 11-man championship
and first undefeated season. Congratulations, Tiger players and Coach Homer.
Cedar is going to take state in wrestling.
Congrats to the mighty Hurricane Tigers! What an awesome season...so much fun.
The 3-headed monster was amazing this year...Scott, Yardley and Thompson.
Here's a shout out to the kids that made it all possible for them...our great
offensive linemen! And the defense was super too! Thank you also to a great
coaching staff. Congrats to all who were a part of this team, you made history!
Can't wait until next year...ha!
jo momma, not at Brian Scotts weight
Congrats to Coach Homer, his staff, and especially to the team! I have never
been warmer than I was sitting in the stands with my neighbors as I was
yesterday in RES in the snow! Our crowd is awesome!
jo momma-at what weight? Beat Delta in the Southern regional and then talk your
Joe Mamma:You are darn funny. That one was good but not nearly as
good as the posts earlier in the week about your sheep and flat bed pickup.
Cracked me up. Keep up the good humor. you're a funny dude!Good job
I heard a joke not long ago and I need to ask Joe on it, Is the reason you brand
the sheep is to know which ones kick?
That kind of hurts my feelings downsouth. I have no idea what you are implying,
but it sounds mean. If you will excuse me I need to go back to church in time
for priesthood opening exercises. Yes, I sluffed the middle part to come home
and check on NFL scores.
Wheres Southpride now?
Well, history was made! Congrats to the entire HHS team and staff. The Hurricane
faithful were there like usual. What a great experience! The Tiger Team is a
very functional machine. Don't overlook the other Region 9 teams next year. The
bullseye just gets bigger. The Hurricane team now understand how to win!
Jamal...my son is a junior...since 5th grade that group of boys has been
UNDEFEATED EVERY YEAR...Watch out! We don't really need luck because they are an
amazing group of boys.
@sunnyjsandersYou should probably stay off these blogs, just saying.
Southside...why should I?
Was just at the celebration for Hurricane! It was incredible! The team was
there, the trophy, plus a nifty tribute to the members of the 1947 & 1948
state champs. Great event!
Hurricane Team, Coach and City, Congratulations on a dynamic season, it's funny
that the people who all lost in the 1982 state championship tried to get Homer
fired, Now they all love Homer, that's what I call love. Congrats to all.
Congrats Hurricane you deserve it.
Congrats to Hurricane HS!!Now the 800-lb gorilla is on the backs of
the last five schools who ihave played longest without winning a state football
title (Park City, North Sanpete, Spanish Fork, Wasatch and Cedar).
Congratulations to Coach Homer and the Tigers. It is good to see a region 9 team
win the title. I believe region 9 will dominate the 3A ranks until the next
realignment. How fun would it be to see 4 region 9 teams in the semifinals next
year? Maybe then we could convince the state to hold the state championship in
sunny Southern Utah for once as opposed to the frigid confines of Rice-Eccles.
Congrats on a great win against DHills. You have a great program and I wouldn't
be surprised to see you simply reload and do it again next year. Although I am
very impressed with Brian Scott and I believe he'll get the award for Mr.
Football in 3A. I am reminded that the RB from Hurricane team last year got the
award too. No disrespect to Scott, but RB are nothing without a great line and
system.Homer has a great system. Some may criticize it because it's kinda
bland. The main thing I like about it is that it's effective. They average 35+
points per game. They rarely get negative yards, rarely get fumbles, they
rarely go backwards. Their preseason lifting is incredible. They have a few
kids go to college. Nontheless, last time I checked winning is fun, but it
comes at a price. Few schools and coaches understand this, nor are they willing
to pay the price without offending other schools or communities. I am a DHills
fan. I rarely heard animosity from our side. I NEVER heard 'in your face' from
Hurricane kids.I give respectful props to your program, the system will
@jbkhbrmzWhile Region 9 is going to be tough as always next year, it
is unlikely that four local schools make the semis. Juan Diego and Spanish Fork
are as tough as anyone. Delta does a great job every year and has advanced to
the semis in the past. The 3rd & 4th seeds have to travel great distances
and are pitted against good teams (I.e., JD vs. Dixie).
LAI believe what jbk is suggesting is that it would be interesting
if four Region Nine teams turned up for the semis, because it would put UHSAA in
a most awkward position regarding the site of the games. While I agree with you
that the odds of four teams from the region showing up for the semis are not
high, it's far from unthinkable, and given what local teams have coming back I
would not be the least surprised to see two Region Nine teams in the finals in
2012.With that in mind and speaking as a fan, it would sure be nice
to watch the finals from a stadium seat with the temperatures in the mid
sixties, as opposed to driving 600 miles to sit in a snow storm.
I, for one, loved the football game at RES in the snow. It is football...played
in whatever the weather brings us. As a fan, I just dressed warmly and cheered
my guts out!!
