The date line on this article is Sunday, November 20, 12:00 am MST and yet it
was posted late Friday night (November 18)or very early Saturday morning
(November 19). The Deseret News is amazing - first a mayor with a
pen name and now its own calendar.
Pignanelli wrote: "After the appropriate mea culpas, West Valley residents
and most County Republican delegates are likely to forgive Winder's actions as
silly but well-intentioned. His troubles lie elsewhere."Written
like a truly insulated political creature! I've talked to a lot of West Valley
residents, many of them who closely know or who have worked with Winder and not
a single one of them view his actions as just "silly." More like
downright dishonest and self-serving and arrogant. If Mike offered
up anything approaching a real, heartfelt apology without all the lame
justifications for his behavior, maybe people would be more apt to forgive. But
I'm getting the widespread sense that people are only feeling he came clean
because he felt (again) that he could control the story and manipulate the media
into brushing off his deception as mere "silliness."If
Mike was willing to stoop so low as to repeatedly perpetrate this fraud on his
constituents, who in their right mind would trust him with even more
Winder stole another person's identity to write self-aggrandizing news stories
for this newspaper.Winder should resign immediately, and the Deseret
News should rethink its practice of accepting unsolicited "news"
Hmmm.... Utah repubs lying, manipulating, and deceiving constiuents? Wow... Gee
what a surprise...
I think the problem rests on the Deseret Media Corporation and its leadership. I
really miss the old days of a newspaper just reporting the news and not
@ Ronald MortensenYou'll see the same situation if you look at the
Tribune online. Tribune articles regularly appear online a day or two before
they actually appear in the print edition.Since the DNews and SLTrib
are the only papers I look at much online, I can only assume this is true of
other papers around the country as well.
