In national relevant news utah is one game back from title game. Oregon utah for
first pac12 title and rose bowl!
"Suddenly, BYU's season got a little more interesting in November."Possibly true, if your job requires you to watch and write about these
post season scrimmages.
Yeah ucla and arizona st. would have to lose their last 2 games and utah would
have to win their last 2, not gonna happen. Sorry, 8th place pac12 teams aren't
all that relevant.
First comments on all BYU articles - from Ute trolls. Big brothers usually
don't care much about what the little brothers are doing. Very telling.
brcougar...Irrelevance? That would be independent teams that make their
@brcougar So you are saying that the 8th place team in the PAC12 is better than
your cougars? Remember that 54-10 thrashing at home by that same 8th place team?
"Changing QBs at BYU is a big deal, whether by performance or
injury."Why is that Dick? Do you think this event will make
any headline, outside of the state of Utah? You seem to be implying,
for some reason, that a QB change at BYU against an absolutely rediculous
schedule, with nothing to play for is somehow relevant.
Lifelong UteThanks for stopping by little brother, although fighting
to stay out of the PAC 12 basement isn't all that relevant locally, let alone
"In national relevant news utah is one game back from title game."lol, Only in the crimson-colored world of Utedom would a team with a
losing conference record in mid November be considered "nationally
relevant".On the other hand, in regionally irrelevant news,

WSU (37-27) beating ASU, a team that destroyed Utah at home (14-35) and Colorado
pummeling Arizona (48-29) worse than Utah did (34-21), Utah's once cupcake
schedule to end the season may not be so cupcake afterall.
Listening to Heaps post game interview reminds me why Nelson is refreshing. The
kid just needs to condense his answers to to each question to under 20 seconds
not the standard 2 minutes.
Lifelong Ute and Silent LurkerThanks for visiting; as always, little
brothers comparing themselves to their big brother.
Lifelong UteIn nationally irrelevant news, starved for attention
jealous Utah fans spam another BYU blog with meaningless blabber.
ConferenceofChampionsDick doesn't need to imply anything. EVERYTHING
BYU does is big to the kids on the hill. The fact that you're here commenting
about it proves that beyond any reasonable doubt.btw, the WCC
champion BYU men's cross country team just beat the PAC 12 champion Colorado
men's cross country team to win the 2011 NCAA Mountain Region Cross Country
Championship.now, tell us about your championships in the so-called
"conference of champions" little brother...---crickets---
@Lifelong UteIs there some "nationally relevant" reason
that you're spamming the blog of a non-AQ, independent? The harder
our friends on the hill try to pretend that BYU is irrelevant, the sillier they
Irrelevance? That would be independent teams that make their own schedule. As opposed to dependent teams that play weekly on KJZZ?Here's a clue: beating up on the dregs of any conference doesn't make you
wow...as if Utah should somehow with some kind of luck even come close to making
the championship game...and then as if it stands a chance to even coming close
to achieving Stanford's pitiful level of play against the Ducks last night.
Ssure dude... that's going to be relavent... as to how far behind the Southern
division is to the Northern... but I wouldn't go so far as to envoke any
national relavency. Even mice that roar are still overpowered by the greatness
of silence in the outer edges of the darkest shadows...which is where Utah is
"midpacmajor"The fact that your user ID refers to the
PAC-12, along with having to dig up completely irrelevant information comparing
BYU's and Colorado's cross country teams, only illustrates your obsession with
everything Utah. It is obvious that you are somehow trying to make yourself
feel better about the state of your football team, and it's struggle to appear
nationally relevant. Let's talk football. How does 7 out of the last 10 and
most recently 54-10 on your home field sound? I'm sure you will be back with
some completely ambiguous comparison, perhaps comparing Drama Departments at
Hope Nelson heals well, Heaps does well and Lark is ready; he will be next up
given just the right hit... it's happened before, it'll happen again. This
is a season of irrelevance for BYU really. 1st year independent, had to get a
schedule from thin air. I think it's been a really good thing to see Idaho
State and the UofI get a shot in Provo given their regional proximity and the
density of BYU fans in Idaho, and number of Idaho students at BYU. Hopefully
more of the smaller regional teams will get a piece of national attention by
playing BSU, BYU in the future.
ConferenceofChampionsThe Pac 12 adopted that title because of
championships won in ALL sports, not just football. Pretending that Cross
Country championships are "irrelevant" just proves how disconnected
Utah fans are to the reality of Utah's new conference.Call us when
Utah wins its first conference championship in ANY sport in the "conference
of champions". Until then, you're nothing but faux champions, living in
the shadows of the real champions of the conference.
CoC"comparing BYU's and Colorado's cross country teams, only
illustrates your obsession with everything Utah."Obsessions-R-Us - I wonder if you even grasp the irony of a Utah homer posting
that on a BYU blog. It's laughable that Utah trolls whined so much
about BYU moving its minor sports to the WCC, when, in reality, Utah's minor
sports will obviously be completely irrelevant in the PAC 12.BYU's
Cross Country team is headed to the NCAA chamionships with conference and
regional championships already under their belt. Where will Utah's Cross Country
Snack PACI am confident that Utah will make a respectible showing in
some of the "olympic" sports initially, and not so well in others,
possibly indefinitely. In some of the larger universities markets in the Pac
12, there is quite simply a competitive advantage, history, and larger athletic
budget that Utah will have to compete against in these sports. The gap can
certainly be narrowed however, over time, and I believe that it will. Why don't
you give Utah a break? Utah has only been a memeber of the Pac 12 for 5 months.
I certainly don't mind the growing pains. I would rather be invited into the
"Conference of Champions" which Utah was, and face difficult
competition to improve and become better. I think most BYU fans prefer to roll
up the score on inferior competition and then self appoint themselves champions
far too often.
ConferenceofChampions - I know a lot of BYU fans, and I don't know any of them
that would prefer to roll up victories over inferior competition and then
appoint themselves champions. The first part of your comments made some sense,
that Utah has only been a member five months, and there will be growing pains,
but Utah will gradually become more competitive. And so it is with BYU. They
have just been independent a few months, and this schedule had to be put
together in a hurry. Future schedules will be more difficult. So why did you
have to end with such a ridiculously false slam against BYU fans? Why don't you
give BYU a break? Both schools have good programs, doing their own thing now,
rather than being in the same conference. Both schools have some embarrassing
fans. Quit making snide remarks about all or most BYU fans, and maybe the rest
of your comments would be more readily acknowledged.
Heaps pass to end the 1st half was perfect. He was getting a little air under
the ball and his touch seems to be improving.Don't feed the trolls.
"brcougar...Irrelevance? That would be independent teams that make
their own schedule."Really? Most people would say the opposite
is true. How many times in the future will Texas, Notre Dame, Florida State, or
Virginia Tech come to Rice-Eccles Stadium? Can Utah even get a 2-for-1 with any
of those teams? Or are they too irrelevant? Also, note that BYU is
ranked higher than the Utes yet again this week. I'm sure you know what that
CoCUtah was never competitive in the WAC or MWC in the Olympic
sports; only a delusional Utah fan would really believe that will ever change in
an even stronger conference.BYU beat a Top 10 conference opponent to
win their conference championship. Who did U beat?
"I think most BYU fans prefer to roll up the score on inferior competition
and then self appoint themselves champions far too often."ConferenceofChampions, you obviously don't know how BYU rolls. They don't run
up the score. In fact, they were often passed up in the polls because they
didn't while the power house schools did run up the score.Anyway, I
didn't realize that BYU self-appointed themselves the 1984 National Champions.
I always thought it was a consensus National Championship awarded by all the
major organizations because all evidence showed that BYU was the best team in
the nation, and there was not enough evidence to show otherwise, even to this
Look at me, Look at me... I have a losing record in my conference, but due to
the ineptitude of all the other teams in my division, I have a chance to get
worked by Oregon.
What a sad game. Are our opponents any better next year or do we have to sit
through this again. Where I was watching even ESPN cut to a different game.
The 2013 home schedule looks a bit more interesting for the Cougs with home
games vs. Texas, Georgia Tech and Boise State on the schedule.
You utah fans are a little too full of yourself's after 3 wins vs. bad teams. As
recently as 2 years ago utah fans talked smack on the pac10 saying how overrated
they were, now winning vs. any pac10 team is now so impressive... hm ok. You are
in 4th place in the SOUTH division, which is the far less impressive division
this year no doubt. Do you want a freakin cookie? Very very impressive! You may
be better than byu this year, although I think if they played again the outcome
would be much closer. That's not even the point. Stop acting like anyone
nationally gives a crap about you because you're in 8th place. You are middle of
the pack at best in a conference that is very top heavy, and after that is not
all that impressive, and you didn't even play the best two teams. Also, you guys
try to act like you don't care about byu anymore... you're not making it very
Everything BYU does is more relevant than Utes, they have 10 times more fans.
Cross Country, Really Guys? OK, if it makes you feel better.
I came to the comments hoping for a discussion of Heaps and his performance on
Saturday since I didn't watch it. Sadly, the discussion got derailed before it
even left the train yard.DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS!
Utah is far more interesting to ponder about than BYU at this point. The Nelson injury was easy to predict (which I did immediately after the USU
game), although I know we all wish him a quick recovery.I think the
attention in Provo needs to shift to hoops. The big games for the football
season have been played for the Cougars . . . although I would bet a nickel that
there's at least one more loss that BYU Football will absorb on the gridiron
before we see the end of 2011.I would like to see Samuelson and the
Board show more leadership in pushing BYU toward a more defined plan of action.
Independence has not worked out. Lipstick doesn't help this pig.
Jake did everything he was called on to do. He came into a situtation where the
starting quarterback was injured and stepped in to engineer 5 scoring drives. He
has a little rust, but it is a challenge to take it from the practice field to
the game. The next question is: Will OC Doman be able to put in a game plan that
will match the NMS high scoring team. And for those who think the
Armed Forces Bowl is not going to be a good game, the team that will represent
the C-USA will be the third place team in the C-USA. And no matter who that is
it will be a pretty good team. The top three teams in the conference
are:#11 Houston 10-0#20 Southern Mississippi 9-1Tulsa
7-3Tulsa's three loses were to #5 Oklahoma, #2 Oklahoma State, and
#10 Boise State.Playing any of these three teams would be a real
challenge and a game worth seeing.Facts speak louder than rhetoric.
"Enjoy the moment, even when it's wrestling in the mud with the
If Houston wins C-USA, they are on track to an auto-bid to a BCS bowl. SMU is
in third place after taking Houston out of the mix. (And of course, Armed
Forces Bowl isn't locked into third place, it's third choice.) But combine
location and history, and I think SMU is BYU's bowl opponent.
For 2011 season, Utah played a tougher schedule than BYU and when BYU played
against Utah, it was defeated badly. That is the cold hard facts! PAC-10 teams
schedule is tougher than BYU, look at the power rankings. If BYU wants to stay
indedepdent and not accept an invitation to the Big East, than please schedule
teams that are from BCS conferences instead of teams from Football Championship
Subdivision as it dilutes BYU strength of schedule and the possibility of
playing in a BCS Bowl. If BYU is trying to emulate Notre Dame than it needs to
follow they way they schedule teams. BYU game ticket sales are down from
previous years, because of the schedule and it was noticed on ESPN. It will
impact recruitment as players want to be seen by NFL scouts playing against
teams going to a BCS bowl or from a BCS conference.
