Good for Boise State. Football travel won't increase much more than in a
regular season where they play 2-3 eastern teams. This year they flew to George,
Toledo. In the old WAC travel included Hawaii and Louisana Tech, not short
hops. They get out of the MWC TV contract and back on ESPN regularly, have a lot
more eastern exposure (e.g., eastern sports bias), make more money and have a
guaranteed pathway to a BSC game. With TCU leaving BSU staying in the MWC would
be worse than the WAC.'Would be nice if BYU were to be added to make
the complete Western Division. They would still be able to schedule early
season games with whoever and have a complete October/November schedule with
better competition than might be available when BCS conferences begin to shut
down out of conference scheduling in October-November.
That just sounds strange, the only thing Boise is East of is Oregon. Half the
people living on the East Coast still need to Google Idaho to figure out were it
"BYU in a western division with Boise State, Air Force, Houston and SMU,
may be better than Big 12"I would agree... this would certainly
be an easier path to the BCS than either the Big 12 (having to go thru Texas,
Oklahoma) or PAC 12 that Utah has if the BCS stays intact. My biggest
question is what happens to the Big East if/when the Big 12 decides to go back
to 12 teams and comes along and takes Louisville and/or BYU?
I'm pretty sure Louisville and UConn are working as hard as they can to get out
of Big East. Only a question of whether and when Big XII and ACC invites them.
If Mizzou leaves the Big XII (as expected), then the Big XII could also go
after Cinncinnati. Boise may be conference hopping for a while here. While I
believed, and still do, that BYU really needs to get into the Big XII and am
disappointed that will not happen, I think BYU stays patient regarding the Big
Nonetheless, the MWC is now a joke of a conference. Craig Thompson and the
remaining schools get what they earned with their decisions.
Please get rid of this Blue Turf Snurf.
@ DEW CougarsBoise State is not likely to ditch the Blue Turf. It
has become an iconic nationally-recognized brand in college FB (e.g. the Hedges
in GA, touchdown Jesus @ ND, etc). Unless they are paid a lot of $ to do so the
Broncos would be foolish to abandon the Blue. Besides, it gets in the heads of
visiting teams and their fans. We like that too.
To: DEW Cougars | 11:16 a.m. Nov. 4, 2011 Sandy, UT - When you can come North
and beat the Bronco's, they will change their turf color. I have not seen BYU do
that yet in my life.
