I love watching this kid play. Best in the state.Keep it up John!!!
"White is currently the third-leading rusher in the Pac-12 and ranks 15th
in the nation."He is actually 2nd in the Pac-12 in yards
rushing behind Washington's Chris Polk (1,016), and 3rd in rushing yards per
game behind Oregon's LaMichael James and Polk. Kinda makes you wonder what might
have been if our defense hadn't fell apart at halftime of the UW game.
White is amazing. Hope we can keep his carries to 30 or less though. No need to
riso injury.Number 1 key to every ute victory is white's success
át rushing.2nd is defense and third is limiting turnovers.Utah will be bowling again this year which is a pretty amazing feat
given we have a ton of first year starters, lost our starting qb, and just
enterred one of the top 4 conferences in the country.Gu UTES!
From a BYU guy who loves to see the Utes lose (yes I'm a little bitter...) I
have to say, this White kid can run! I actually find myself enjoying watching
him pick O-State's defense apart. Good luck to him!
of all the running backs i've seen at the U, John White IV is by far my favorite
to watch. I could watch him run all day and never get bored... What a stud!
JWIV is totally awesome. It is absolutely astounding how well he runs the ball,
given his small size.
I'm concerned about the number of carries he's being asked to do given his size.
It's got to wear on him and I hope the coaches don't wear him out or get him
injured by overusing him.He is fun to watch and a great player. At
least we got one major positive from the JUCO ranks this year. Now we just need
the rest of the offense to catch up with him.
one of these days the Utes will face a defensive coordinator smart enough to
load the box and stop White. They are one dimensional and if White doesn't pick
up yards they are in trouble. Of course Roscoe at BYU wasn't that smart, but
the pac 12 schools should have coaches smart enough to figure that out.
@plyplexThough I don't like how you're saying it, I have to agree
with you on our offense. Our defense is insane and has kept us in so many games
for the most part, the teams who beat us were the ones who loaded the box.
Looking at the stats, we've won every game where the opposing D let White run
for more than 100 yards. Cal, ASU, USC, and Washington all just focused on
shutting down the run and they killed us in the end. That's why the OSU game was
surprising, the fact that it took them till halftime and White going over 150
yards on them for the DC to think of stuffing the box. But, I think we can
win out at least the two games needed for a bowl. One, Arizona has one of the
worst run defenses in the country, and even stuffing the box, I don't think
they'll be able to handle White once he gets past the D-line. Two, Colorado is
terrible and we get them at home. Three, WSU can be beaten. Four, the toughest
one, UCLA, has consistency issues.
He's turned out to be an awesome pickup. If he's the only guy from his
recruiting class that pans out, it will have been a successful class. He's that
good. This has to be a thrill for him.
I notice at the end of the article that the game is being carried by KJZZ.
Reports last week indicated that the game would not be carried because FOX would
not release the rights. Apparently, commissioner Larry Scott got involved and
those rights were released to KJZZ so that the game can be carried in Utah.
Duckhunter and some other BYU fans have stated that Larry Scott has no respect
for Utah. Those statements were all hyperbole and this incident once again
proves how great a commissioner Larry Scott is and he does look out for every
team in the PAC 12.
MN Ute, I hope they make it to a bowl game as well, but it's pretty simple, the
Utes go as White goes. If he runs well they win, if they don't we all know what
happens.I don't know what Arizona will do, but I would guess they'll load
the box up, try and punish White, and force Hays to make the plays to win the
game. If they have 7 or 8 in the box then Chow will have to call pass plays and
it will come down to Hays being able to read the pressure and throw into the
pressue to his hot reads. I would like to see Hays do it, but I doubt it will
actually happen, he just hasn't shown that kind of composure to this point.
I still can't believe that OSU didn't load the box against the Utes. That would
have been a lot closer game. I know that UofA will and Jon will have to throw
to win. Go Utes.
John White IV is spectacular! The heavy workload is troubling to me,
but what a workhorse White is.If White keeps up the consistency,
Hays expands his game just a little, and Chow has the game plan, the Utes can
win the next four games. Part of expanding his game, means still
eliminating turnovers for Hays. I am not saying Utah will win out, but they
could. They are too one dimensional to be dominant, but I could see them
Whittingham's boys scratching and clawing there way to victory for the next
month.Likely, Utah finishes 6-6. They are a good football team with
a lot of key injuries. The Wynn injury is obviously the biggest. Losing Dalin
Rodgers is tough, but Murphy is developing. Devonte Christopher being hobbled is
a big deal. Outside of White, he is the second biggest playmaker on the team.
The WRs are talented as a whole with Dres Andersen and the others, but
Christopher does it all (deep balls, intermediate, and slant routes).
Run John, run!Arizona will likely stack the box. Teams like Pitt and
OSU knew White was the biggest threat on the Utes, and he still burned them. I
hope the Utes are dedicated to the run. Play action will open up if Hays can
make the reads and accurate throws. Go Utes!
