Perseverance is really paying off
Finally has a good coach. It will be interesting to see how the season turns
out, and how the years turn out. Harbaugh is the guy and will be in SF for a
while. Smith has had to learn a new system just about every year, it will be
interesting to see how good Smith can be with Harbaugh as coach.
Jim Harbaugh was a God send for Alex Smith. His passion for the game has
rejuvinated a stagnate San Francisco team. I hope it continues to pay off unless
you meet my Steelers. Keep it up.
Alex Smith is hands down the best Utah QB ever. Fans forget to quickly. The
Sugar Bowl year under Brian Johnson was the pinnacle of Utah's recognition, but
Smith and Urban still started it all.Alex made a huge transition in
the NFL. The #1 pick on a horrible team. He was thrown to the wolves early and
hung out to dry. Alex has had a couple of tough injuries, an endless slew of
coaches and coordinators, none of whom had his back. Until this
year, Alex wasn't able to be a part of a legit NFL offense. He was a spread
offense college QB trying to learn a new NFL system each year under a new
coordinator. He is still doing that with Harbaugh and the current coordinator.
But now the Niners are stable like Alex.Alex is tough and has
persevered.I would love Alex to keep up the good play, and I think
he will now. What I am optimistic for, is Alex not just winning, but becoming
more comfortable in San Francisco, and putting up top QB numbers down the road.
This Coug is happy for and proud of Alex. I can be a proud niners fan again,
which hasn't been fun since Steve retired. Go Smith! Go Niners!
So he was a good quarterback who was struggling due to poor coaching. He's the
same person and the same player but he is successful now because he has a good
coach. Some in Provo might do well reading this article...
I agree with Uncle Rico's comments. Finally, Smith has a decent coach and
offensive coordinator, and the stability is showing with Smith's confidence on
the field. (Great winning pass at the end of the Detroit game, by the way!)Good luck, Alex! Ute Nation is behind you all the way!
The vast majority of QB's that are number 1 draft picks struggle and many never
succeed. Mostly because they are brought into terrible situations on teams that
are lousy. One player cannot by himself turn around a team and an organization.
Finally, San Francisco has put all the peices together and the results are
showing. I'm happy for Alex and as a long time 49ers fan I'm happy to have
something to cheer about again.
I am really happy for Alex Smith but I still would like see them allow him to
throw more down field. Last game he was making some bad plays but he still won
the game for us. @oldcougar | 8:32 a.m. Oct. 21, 2011What? We had some good years after Young. In 2001 we were 12-4 and lost the
WC game, and in 2002 we were 10-6 and won the WC game. So losing Young wasn't
the issue, in 2003 management made a bright decision to let go of Steve Mariucci
and went downhill from then on:Dennis Erickson 9-23Mike Nolan
18-37Mike Singletary 19-22Now we have a REAL coach!! Go
Nice job Alex. Keep up the good work!Go Utes!!
Nothing shuts up the detractors like a little success!!! AS won't be
in the hall of fame but he's shaping up to be a good to great QB on a good to
great team. This year isn't a fluke, he's finally found the stability and
quaility at the skill positions to let him succeed. He's finally got
a coach that builds an offense around his skills rather than expecting him to
adapt to their offense of the week.As a 30 year 9ners fan I'm loving
every minute of this year.Go Alex Go SF 9ners....
Sometimes different personalities and coaching philosophies make a huge
difference. Season isn't over yet, but so far 5-1 isn't too bad either. Go
Like any NFL quarterback, Alex is as good as his offensive line allows him to
be. He has the arm and the talent. He just needs a bit of protection!
Alex still hasn't had 2 years with the same offense. If you think he looks good
now, wait until next year!
dennis pitta and paul kruger have been good for the ravens as well we should
beat jaguars monday
